deja vu

Neutral is the 'Neutral Zone', there is lawful/chaotic and good/evil what can change, its not just good/evil, black/white. PS: a LG character could do it because he's lawful, and not becouse he's good.
-
Yes? I know you are. No need to worry doh, I am watching over you. ^_^
-
That's exactly my opinion. Most rulers organized mercenaries somewhat, and supported them with laws, so these mercenaries could be mostly 'Lawful Something', so the action to ask for payment for something could be considered lawful. If it's considered unlawful to ask for payment for something what's simply right to do (as saving a child), then that can be considered chaotic, evil, or both depending on who you ask about it. You can't in RL walk around and point on people that 'He's CE!' or 'She's NG!'
-
It all depends who you ask, where, when, and about what. It's all about opinions, cultures, events, faith, and regional laws These all can be very different, and it can be that two LG persons look at each other, and think the other one is CE.

It's a weird world if a hungarian understands the meaning of alignment better than some american guys. :D <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WTF are you talking about? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That I know what lawful, chaotic, neutral, good, evil means more than many people in the nation where DnD was created.

Yeah, like that freak Hades. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ? He was more normal then you are! (and i also liked him more) :D

Obsidian Art Challenge Turkey Style!
Jorian Drake replied to Jessica Edge's topic in Obsidian General
Umm....what was the idea behind it, did you ask them 'how many turkeys did you eat that day?' I guess its better than misunderstanding the word for 'turk-s' -
Its stupid. Playing the part of a mercenary is not evil, it would be more neutral than good or evil. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you keep doing it over and over, I could see an argument otherwise. Especially given that Evil seems to mean selfish in the D&D world. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that's not true, how alignments are used depend on the DM who interprents them

Romances in NWN 2 and RPGs in general
Jorian Drake replied to Azarkon's topic in Computer and Console
Interesting. Have you ever played Spellforce? It mixes RTS and RPG very well. Not the extent you write about though but it's a start. And dialog is horrible. :'( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i played it, it was a try to combine the two genres, but it failed. I am definetly sure it can be made much better, and i guess Obsidian and /or Bioware are capable of it. A game what also tried to combine the two -but with a more deeper RPG and hack&slash than the strategy part- was Jeanne d'Arc, I liked the alternate story outcome and the slowly evolving troops. But as said, it was a nice try, but sadly not a successfull one. -
What you couldn't do/say in KotOR II...
Jorian Drake replied to a topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I got Atton to tell me about his past after I started to train him as a Sith Lord, A lot of bad things led his way, like killing jedi left and right, I can't remember a whole lot more...been a while since I have played kotor2. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> that was during the Jedi civil war... AFTER the Mandalorian wars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> before that he was an officer of the republic -
Romances in NWN 2 and RPGs in general

Exactly! (and as for myself i also like to give strategy options to the mix, the keep in NWN2 comes near it, but creating a city and expanding + politics would make it superb ) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wasn't Torment exactly like that? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Storytelling and dialog was like an adventure game, deep, involving, magnificently written. The gameplay was RPG, almost exactly like BG and the combat was just as strategical as any IE game before it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> strategy: building up a city, decide what building where to, get trade routes, interact with neighbor cities, get some societies going on (like thiefs guild) or stop them, bribe bandits to attack enemy cities merchants, ask an archmage to build a tower and live in your city, get alliances and go to war, improve your armies and inclued allies (like elven archers), ect. connect this with RPG elements: get to know a princess and be in love with her, marriage and intrigues strenghten/weaken some relationships, and your city (nation), be attacked by heroes who investigate on the attacked merchants, roleplay out how you get enemies/allies, and where, kill some dragon or make it a slave/ally, hire mercenary troops to double your army size, then backstab their leader, ect. -

if you incist on +2 or 4 and such you can't really show the small difference between elf/half-elf/human. If you want to chage ability scores , than just add +1 Dex and -1 Con, that's between the two 'parent races'.

Romances in NWN 2 and RPGs in general
Jorian Drake replied to Azarkon's topic in Computer and Console
I think the real RPG spirit has been split in two by PC games: 'RPG' and 'Adventure' genre These two combined sum it up quite good what real good pnp RPG is about. -
Yeah, I figured it out last night. Quick question for all you D&D brains, why is a Warlocks powers dependant on him staying Chaotic? His powers arent spells nor divine grants, they are abilities born into the person. AFAIK, Sorcerers share this trait too and arent restricted to an alignment so why Warlocks? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Warlocks drain their power from Limbo (I hope you understand what I mean)

I feel this is a very strange complaint and has more to do with your personal preferences and isn't a fault in NWN2. All new games i've played recently have also put their savegames under My Documents. This protects your savegames from other users and makes them easy to backup and copy when you reinstall windows or move to a new computer. Storing savegames under My Documents is actually a good thing for most users. If you must have so many savegames and antivirus gives you trouble then simply tell your AV software to ignore NWN2 savegame folder. Also if your AV software is decent and you act responsibly then there's no need to run scans so often that it would be any trouble no matter how long the scan runs. Leave it on while you go out for example. Btw if you're going to call something stupid then please at least explain why it's stupid. I don't know anything about the reasons behind those large savegame files but i'm curious. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> His point is: What other users!?

Exactly, in a world there are things that are just stronger than other things one way or the other, or even in anything. No need to make a rabbit the same as a T-Rex
