I've bought it and played it for several hours yesterday. (Gamersgate had it in the morning). So, some points. First, there is some strange "date" protection activation. That is, it checks if the date is valid for activation of the game. Maybe it's due to different release date in the world. Second, I'm playing the game in french and VO and dialogues are somewhat normal for a translated game. As a comparison, BW games have the same quality of VO in french than Gothic 4. About combat difficulties, there are 4 - easy, medium, hard and gothic. I've not tested the gothic mode, but it seems to be close to the gothic 2 combat system, but I may be wrong. Story, quests...I can'ty say much after less than 10 hours into the game, but it doesn't seem to be that original. But it's not to the level of a MMO. RPG system is between Gothic and AP/ME : you have hit points, stamina and mana points. You don't really have skills, you have some main pathes (like discipline, concentrations or those kinds of qualifications) with levels giving advantages like percentage bonus in HP, damages, mana... But at some specific levels in the "path", you gain a specific move/spell/change of effect in spell or move. I would say the game is Ok for the moment. Maybe not full price or only if you really want a RPG to play waiting for FO:NV

Players banned for cheating in SP Campaign
Orchomene replied to Bos_hybrid's topic in Computer and Console
If one can play offline and have intern cheats disable achievements, then it's fair. That means that the one that wants to cheat can do it but not gain achievement for it (which seems logical). Besides, trainers are very limit as a cheat tool since it's modifying the program itself and the licence generally does not allow the buyer of a video game to modify the binaries. Distribution of trainers, specifically for a cost, is also very limit. -
Try to disable the movies and see if it still crashes.

Vic 2 is out already. A good game, but I'm waiting for the 1.2 patch to have a better balance.

Just finished it last two days ago. Fun game, a bit short. Must be played as a parody. Now playing King's Bounty again.

Mass effect 2 and Dying True Rpgs
Orchomene replied to The Transcendent One's topic in Computer and Console
ME was a more or less ok light-RPG game. Not a game I would play again, but not one I didn't enjoy at all. On the other hand, ME2 is far from being close to a RPG. It's played as a shooter, has the depth of story of a shooter, it is a shooter. Maybe a shooter with some originality (like having some minor powers and a bit of dialogues), but not a RPG. -
crashes after "along time ago..."

I have no good ideas. You may try to update visual C++. You may try and disable your anti-virus and test if that helps. You have not a lot of ROM, but your RAM seems ok. One potential issue may also be the graphic card driver, sometimes installing an older one helps for old games. Sorry if that doesn' solve your issue. -
Help increasing performance for KOTOR 2
Orchomene replied to Dinner's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The best compatible with your mother board. I'm not sure you will have a lot of choices with a P4. I don't remember mine, but something like a 6800 or 8800 Nvidia should be good. -
Help increasing performance for KOTOR 2

Well, of course, with this video card, you will suffer a lot. Your PC seems a bit limit too, but of course, it's not that bad for a five year old game. -
"How To" KOTOR 2 On Vista
Orchomene replied to Bass-GameMaster's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Try renaming "InstallShield" folder in "C:\Program Files\Common Files". Confirm UAC prompt (if you have it enabled). Then retry installing. -
Ok, fine. I thought you had mixed a bit things. Did you talk to Geeda to update the quest ?

Alpha Protocol Walkthrough and More
Orchomene replied to BuckGB's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I've never registered there for an account, but I've been following the site since PS:T. That is, something like 8 or 9 years long. -
I won't play TOR, I'm not into MMO games because of some annoying people you can meet in those games and the bad overall quality of the MMO games story-wise. Too bad that it's what it's been decided on the SW franchise.

Help increasing performance for KOTOR 2
Orchomene replied to Dinner's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Two things that can help. First one is a site for tweaks that can enhance the performances of the game : http://www.tweakguides.com/KOTOR2_1.html Second one, try and find a bit more RAM, you are pretty short on this field. It will help you a lot. -
Can't install - c:\\LucasArts\SWKotOR2\Data\Models.bif
Orchomene replied to Jehdai's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sometimes just cleaning the disk is sufficient. You can see if the problem really comes from the disk by trying to make an iso copy of it using something like magicdrive. -
See bellow the topic about ms32.dll

Do you launch the game directly or via the launcher ? Did you run the configuration manager at least one time before launching the main program ? If so and still not working, open the swkotor2.ini with a text editor like notepad++ and check the refresh rate, the resolution and verify the compatibility with your monitor. Then disable sound and most of the graphic options and see if it still fails. If with all disabled there is still failure, I can't think about anything but to uninstall properly and reinstall the game.

Did you install it in C:/Program files (x86) ? If yes, try to install it elsewhere or run the game in admin mode.

C&VG: Sega rules out Alpha Protocol sequel
Orchomene replied to funcroc's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I agree, compared to FO3 or Kotor 2 I've had to restart multiple missions due to glitches/bugs in ME2 (which I don't recall ever having to do in the original). In FO3, I had the Jefferson Memorial crash that made my game crash every five minutes if I get too close to the JM building and would corrupt all the subsequent saves. Thus, for the main quest, I had to use the console and teleport to various locations to be able to do the quests involving the building. Kotor 2 had more glitches than real bugs, true. But some were really annoying. At least, not game breakers. Bloodlines had a game breaking bug that made a crash when taking the boat to escape the Leopold society. But then again, you could use the console to circumvent the issue. That's a good point for games having consoles : the possibility to debug the game yourself easily without needing a patch. -

I'm stuck on the Ebon Hawk!
Orchomene replied to thesinikil1's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Did you fight the handmaiden after having taken back your NPCs ? If yes, that may be the origin of your bug (and several other issues linked to Telos). A load of a save before the fights should solve this if you either havoid the fights or fight before taking back your NPCs. Otherwise, I can only propose to load before entering Telos and replay the whole academy.
