  3. Have you guys noticed the $150 price raise for the top of the line video cards? Anybody thinking about buying the AGEIA Physics card? Its suppose to help your games as much more as a graphic card does. Thats pretty extrodinary if they can keep the price below $200.

  7. Awesome!
  8. I'm fine with Creationism being taught in private schools.
  9. I see some of us think that science isn't backed by science now? Like i said before, show us A POSITIVE PROOF that ID is plausible. Not something like "Well evolution is wrong so ID must be right!"
  10. Heres some scantily clad photos of Miss Alba herself! the first photo is me, when i dated her in highschool. Yep "
  11. The big bang can't be proven. If it was then this would happen! On a serious note, CERN a scientific organization is trying to figure out more about particles by crushing them in a particle accelerator and then looking that the remaining pieces. also there is the cosmological constant, how the planets are all moving further apart from a point. and the microwave in the universe left over from the explosion, if you want to detect this yourself, turn on your tv and unplug your cable, the fuzz is the detection of microwave. The big bang is caused by a Super Cooled Higgs field. The Fabric of the Cosmos, page 281-282 A Higgs field that has gotten caught on a plateau not only suffuses space with energy, but, of crucial importance, Guth realized that it also contributes a uniform negative pressure. In fact, he found that as far as energy and pressure are concerned, a Higgs field that's caught on a plateau has the same properties as a cosmological constant: it suffuses space with energy and negative pressure, and in exactly the same proportions as a cosmological onstant. So Guth discovered that a supercooled Higgs field does have an important effect on the expansion of space: like a cosmological constant, it exerts a repulsive gravitational force that drives space to expand.
  12. by EnderAndrew He who controls the words, controls the debate! Well when it comes down to it, everything takes a first assumption. so then everything takes faith because of that assumption. As i said, all science is are statistics. if you can beleive scientific theorys such as plate tectonics and gravity that are here today, will also be here tomarrow then you can believe in science. Its easy for me to beleive. but thats just my perspective. Also, science does not claim facts. they humbly claim scietific theorys which is as close as they go. They think that way because they know they cannot know EVERYTHING about one thing, that would take a lifetime ATLEAST. unlike Zues.
  13. Well, I'm back and i see ive missed a few points that i could have shared darnit Ender, you have brought up the main missing link in evolution. but scientists right now are doing just that, or should i say trying to. They have built a scenario of how the earth was like before it created living organisms. to try just that. so my advice is, never say never. Einstein also said " "Thus I came...to a deep religiosity, which, however, reached an abrupt end at the age of 12. Through the reading of popular scientific books I soon reached a conviction that much in the stories of the Bible could not be true.... Suspicion against every kind of authority grew out of this experience...an attitude which has never left me." ~Albert Einstein "I do not believe in immortality of the individual, and I consider ethics to be an exclusively human concern with no superhuman authority behind it." ~Albert Einstein "I cannot imagine a God who rewards and punishes the objects of his creation, whose purposes are modeled after our own -- a God, in short, who is but a reflection of human frailty. Neither can I believe that the individual survives the death of his body, although feeble souls harbor such thoughts through fear or ridiculous egotism." ~Albert Einstein Barth, evolution is very complex when it comes down to knowing everything, but what about Ocrams razor? well you'd think believing ID would be right right? well no, because ID has to many holes. its like jumping into an abyss of no reason. Its just an idea, not even a hypothesis, not even science. Evolution is testable and you can witness it. You can see information increase in a nylon bug, you can see a change in bactria, you can watch the fossils as they evolved over millenias and look at birds from different islands with evolved traits to help them survive better. Is evolution a religion? is science a religion? NO, all science is are statistics, thats it period! its just a system to reason, and its been doing a great job(opinionated i know). some people may believe in science yes, but that is not a religion. A religion sets a complete way to live ,not just on belief. Is my atheism a religion? no its just one belief, just like theism is just one belief.
  14. Can anyone here prove a positive proof for Intelligent design? Once a theologist can do this without holes in his/her logic, then i'll start to take it seriously. Enough trying to proof a positive with a negative like saying evolution doesn't work because of irredicable complexity, that it doesn't fit in with the second law of thermodynamics, and the mutation of more information. How science isn't backed by science.
  15. Great, another thing to worry about. I think ill put this bit of information where my phone #'s were, perfect! "grumble-grumble" <_<
  16. How did you like The Stranger? I found that book fascinating, a bit depressive. I found his view point (indifference, world irrational just like life) fascinating, yet unhuman. also, how since he didn't choose a meaning for him, society(that is the court room) choose one for him. What did you get out of it?
  17. What books are on your topshelf? Mine are- Enders Game Series (my favorite!) By Orson Scott Card Fabric Of The Cosmos- By Brian Greene A Brief History Of Time- By Stephen Hawkins The Stranger- By Albert Camus The Selfish Gene- By Richard Dawkins The Man In The High Castle- By Philip K. ****

Anybody ever notice the similarites of Jesus Christ and Julius Ceasar?
  19. just curious to see what my makeover would look like....
  20. haha!! i like it! classic So to be aware of everything. Your shoes the pakistani children made. The ciggerette warning on the box. To come out of the cave and leave your comfert zone. Thats where the matrix went wrong, we don't walk out, we get dragged out kicking and screaming till we realize whats going on, unless we dont realize then we run back in.
  21. What would it be like to live life fully, instead of just merely existing?
  22. Are you a fruedian? ^_^
  23. It is a tough question, because you have to ask yourself that question for that is the only answer! Some might be more conscious spritually with a dualistic perspective. focused on a God. Others might look to themselves inwardly and try to understand how they tick. Why they smile when they are nervous and realize that they smile because its their subcosnscious trying to make them happy once again. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I can't ask myself a question when I don't understand what I'm asking. And I still don't understand. What are we talking about? Are we asking what makes something concious? What makes something alive? Are we talking about free will? Intelligence? Obviously, everyone here who is managing to respond to the topic of this thread has grasped something about the topic that I don't see. That's because I don't know what the question is, not because I don't know what the answer is. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> We are talking about conscious living mainly in a philosophical way. Conscious living (to be aware of thoughts and your reality, surroundings.) Each mind is different because each one has a different perspective on life. If you mention the word love, you might think of your mom and father, i might think of a one legged prostitute getting topshelfed. We each intrepret the world radically different. So how are you conscious. Sprirtually: Do you more oftern then not look to a god/s for the asnwer to the situation? Emotional: Do you stress or become joyful about the situation? Intellectual: Do you more oftern then not use your knowledge and seek to rationalize the situation? the philosophy answer - which, for many, is the foundation of philosophy: The Life Examined. To me, this entails a state of non-commitment. A philosopher is an observer more than a participant. His influence is indirect, as inspiration of participants. On the one hand, this setting can be viewed as an even more pitiful form of existence
  24. Haha that would have been funny "
