  1. Phew. I thought you were referring to a mass slaughter. Edit: No Zagor, you didn't offend me. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Was that a bit of sarcasm?
  2. Ah, the perfect drug is religion. 11XHoorah any group that thinks that its possible to justify a holocaust thats 683 times bigger then then the jewish one (1/3 tthe population) is sick, do we really need that kind of hate? Edit:When i say holocaust i mean the eternal damnation of nonbelievers. BTW I know your not one to justify this.
  3. ... And so religion will continue to fulfill this role, because science will not. QED <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I disagree.
  4. I do not beleive in religion, and neither do many people already. People of faith are conditioned to religion. Man has always had a hunger for answers but now we have a better way for answers. do we really need the traditional methods any longer? Yes but only because the need is their dependancy on it already due to their conditioning to religion. are you born with knowledge of this god? no. is there a God gene? no. Religion is a meme, an idea that is spread throughout society by conditioning. I don't doubt that some people who may have a genetic predisposition for mental illness might find themselves attracted to that meme. Meme Wikipedia Link Religion is spread as all knowledge is, by conditioning. Have you heard of memes? Humans tend to have a drive to understand and give meaning to themselves and the world around them. Religion is a cheap and easy meme to fulfill that drive.
  5. So how much longer would you guess? Common sense defies that god exists. The Information age is here. There is little intellectual support because... they are intellects :D Science does not point to a God. there is no God gene, it has to be conditioned, so it comes down to brain washing the new generations. How Much longer will religion last? I heard a rumor of another Rapture date of 2012AD When God saves us from his followers.
  6. I thought space moved not time, that time was like a slice of bread that you can slice anyway, am i wrong, time DOES move and change, not space?
  7. Gabriel Knight Series Zelda Knights of the Old Republics
  8. actaully Philip K. ****'s book A Man In A High castle is quite good. its about what if the nazi's won WW2.
  9. Budda describes that the perfect person is highky intelligent and equally compassionate, i know this is subjective atleast in my opinion but i agree. Jesus seems to match this decription accuratly. Anybody here ever read the Ender's Game series? this is another example of this perfect person who saves the world. anyone else know of anyother fictional characters like the 2 i mentioned? "
  10. Julien My perspective is evil is an illusion, it doesnt exist, it only exist in your minds. You think im evil because i don't believe what you beleive, thats a typical viewpoint of one belief to another. so im going to "hell". Its just an abstract thought. We are not fundementally flawed. What kind of programming do you think a person has when he lives in a perfect world (Adam and Eve, with everything given to him. without right and wrong a person can't learn a view of good and evil. Also if you put yourself in anothers shoes, they typically justify what they do, many times that justification is bad, they might have a misunderstanding, or maybe you have the misunderstaning. Its all a point of view. your reality(how you intrepret the world) against his. Maybe there is no evil but rather the consequences of the species developing adaptive strategies that tend to be accompanied by pain, suffereing, unhappiness, and conflicts of intrests, all part of evolving and growing up. I can tell you have a different idea of good and eveil, i just wanted to show you another.
  11. Why must you take relativism to extremes? lets take christianity to the extremes, ok 4.1 billion people arent christian out of 6 billion. so you 4.1 bilion all go to hell. Times the holocost by 683 literally. How do you justify that, the same way the nazi's did? oh thats right you hide behind the invisible guy. atleast you can sleep better now knowing we're all gone.
  12. I just love to debate, and sometimes i have to put my gloves on. I beleive in relativism. You can have your beleifs, i can have my beleifs, it doesn't mean either of them are wrong. we can still be friends
  13. Ten Commandments Thou shalt have no other gods before me. I'm talking about the religions themselves, and the handful of people that take religon to the extreme that try to impose their will on others. JulienW The christian population i read in the enyclopedia is 1.9 billion. the world poplatiopn is about 6 billion. 1/3 nearly are christians that means.
  14. I have a general rule of getting the midvalue cards always around $200 You get full performace but doesn't have the longevity, then again will the $400 card have all the new features the ones next year will have? nah
  15. Don't worry about it Eldar, I'm getting use to christian fundementalist screaming out of anger and confusion. I just like the debates to learn new information and perspectives. Also for other people to learn this information more importantly. My point i wanted to get to is, can anyone prove that Mithra is any less true then lets say christianity? What about islam, Hindu? no you can not. people simply pick the religion nearest to them. some fancy another juice like Buddah juice instead of jesus juice. Its all subjective because none are more truer then the next. Its just a matter of taste. My taste leans to the Atheist juice. Its lets others worship in whoever they want as long as they were leading a good life. Also Atheism treats people equal, it does not discriminate on who one loves(Homosexuals). Also i do not think Eternal Punishment is Justice either. if I lead a perfect life except if i grew up in the china so i beleive in something else "No Sorry your going to hell for that one." Or to push all of man kind for eating fruit. People beleive because they want to beleive. Hold on to your lottery tickt eldar, maybe your religion will be the one.
  16. Humans rarley ever have original thoughts. Did the bible collect stories from other cultures, borrowing here and there to complete a book? Here are a few similaritie... The great flood coming from the tigris River and euphrates always flooded during mesopotamian era, this was not a story but a fact, and also could have been the idea the world flooding. Mithraism was a secretive religion of Roman times, passed from initiate to initiate, and hence with very little documentary evidence before the 1st century A.D. Man-made caves named 'mithraeum' were the location of the religious meetings, and are scattered over much of the Mediterranean area. (Not a story
  17. I Am on shadow of the Hegemon
  18. I disagree with you X10Hooah Stem cell research is human. embryos have a potential for life, its not a person with a consciousness, its not aware. that potential life is being used for the saving of a concious one. but since you beleive in the supernatural souls and the rest of the religion bit with demons and angels, its hard to argue sinse your first assumptions are quite radical to me. once somebody makes there mind to beleive in something, from that day on they start building a wall to protect it. its hard to knock down.
  19. The elites who founded the U.S. Goverment were mostly Diests. A rational belief in god, that he created everything but does not interfere. They believed in no revelation, unlike christianity.
  20. the khanster Can anyone really intrepret the bible correctly? its been revised about 7 times now. metaphors lost in different languages. the writers even misintreprted the birth of jesus, because there are 2 very different versions. also the whole book is pretty vague. The intrepretations change over time also. wasnt rapture suppose to happen on the millienium, 1000 AD? God save us from your followers.
  21. An Absolute prison. No abortion, or stem cell researchare allowed, but I know one christian with a bear stuffed in his living room. where does life begin? I think its kind of selfish to say that life begins when a human becomes an embryo. what about when a when a egg is laid from a fish? Or how about the smallest living organism being a nanobede. "No life starts with a HUMAN embryo" why? "because we have souls" what about my dog? "what about him?" So what makes humans so special that they are the only ones to go to heaven? Wait a minute, only about what, 12% of the world is christian, so the rest of the 88% go to hell. I have doubts about his god guy. Who is he again? Oh thats right the all powerful, who created us and destined us all for sin. who stayed in the tree laughing as adam ate the apple. who flooded the world killing everybody but one family and 2 of each animal. and who led a crusade. also he likes to burn bushes and talk through them. Schizophrenic? Indeed the Lord does work in mysterious ways. But the christians can hold on to whatever they want. They are free, which is ironic since i thought freedom is what was going to kill religion, but it has sentimental value, maybe its the addiction called love. but why does god get all the love in the world when the world should get that love. where will man kind be without it? Yea i know the stars look brighter, the sky looks clearer when you beleive in such a entity, but doesnt it look that way in fairy tales also?
  22. Atleast they are trying to fit into other cultures!
  23. Taks Calling Roosevelt a communist? I thought McCarthyism was over with. Did you know they even called Martin Luither King a communist, even the declaration of independance, pathetic. Its Amazing Bush hasn't bankrupted us. <_<
  24. Simplified, maybe Eldar, but it was accurate. There is Normative Relativism. That no one should ever pass judgement on other with substanitially different values, or try to make them conform to ones own values. by David Wong Your putting relatism down because of its most extreme forms. Sure its going to be messy at points, did y ou expect different from such a new idea?
