"couldn't go back for a week" Equivelant of a time out? LOL
-
I play my character. If he is good he doesn't go around killing people, and if an innocent dies I deal with it, and make it a part of the character experience. If he's evil, the character kills wheoever whenever if it will benefit him.

"At which point they just become funny shaped humans. Driizt is no more a dark elf than Eliminster is. Now he's a human with dark skin and odd shaped ears. " That's silly. Drizzt is who he is because he is a drow. He is who he is because of what he's had to deal with in his life. His experiences growing up has shaped him forever, and that's because of what he had to deal with as a drow. Drizzt is no human.

Kirrutu, that's because BIO has decided a strict modding style. They feel they have to because of the number of posters they have so they don't have time to deal with flames, and the like. That's said, there's a lot of flames, and trolls that BIO doesn't touch. And, they have no problem with critical posts about them or their games as long as they're posted reasonably. "My problem is the Biowarians themselves. They think they are the gods of gaming which they are not. They believe their own hype." Nonsense. You just don't like the fact that a few BIO devs have no problem putting you in your place when you go in trolling mode. LOL :D

"agree I suppose that is what I was trying to get at. In D&D monsters are sterotyipical and if you change that too much, then it's not D&D anymore." That's weird. D&D itself has done itself to alter the 'sterotype'. The existence of Drizzt, Athas halflings, dwarven bard characters in novels and in games, and the list goes on proves this. Yet, the funny thing is, all these things are very much D&D. D&D stereotypes are menat to be just that. Stereotypes are meant to broken. In fact, the Forgotten Realms has LG tribe of orcs that are nearly their own race, and culture.

What's so hilarious about Eldar's silly post is that Rhomal is not a big fan of BIO. R00fles! As far as obnoxiousnes goes; ther'es enough of that to go around to all forums including this one.

Around here, it's easily NWN. What's really funny is that many of the same people who constantly bash the game are some of the people who are still playing it. Go figure. Three + years, and I still play it full time. Every other game, no matter how much liked it ie BG or FO or the Ultimas, I play them for 6 months if lucky, and then I throw them in the trash 'cause they have outlived their usefulness. But, not NWN which is the Everlasting Game tm.
-
"Oh, I made some posts in the Mass Effect forum as well, Volourn." Didn't see those posts; but I'm sure when I do; it'll be basically the same as what you did in NWN2 Forums. Doesn't relaly bother me; but you shouldn't be surprised when people jump all over you for silly stuff like that. P.S. Just read your ME thread. A tad more reasonable than your NWN2 one and if you noticed the responses in return ar emore reasonable too. Still repetitive, and illogical considering how much you like NWN, KOTOR1+2, and espicially JE.

"I'm surprised no one is throwing any gold box D&D games out there. RPG's had a solid renaissance in the late 80's-early 90's with Might and Magic, Ultima, Wizardry, Bards Tale..." Eh. I played all those games or at least mostly the early ones in thats eries. Outside of the Ultimas, those series are horrible role-playing wise. They're basic exploration + levelling games. Fun; but not role-playing espicially matched up with the more modern type role-playing game starting with the Fallouts. I'd have put a few of the Ultimas on my list; but frnakly, I don't remember much about them. Hehe. Even games I pick on for their lakc of role-play like TOEE, IWD2, or even POR2 are as good or even better at role-playing than most 'old skool' CRPGs like M&M and Wizardry. P.S. FF games are a different type of role-playing game if you are wwondering why i put them on the list.
-
"Well, the fanboys jumped down my case which is to be expected." Eh. Many of the 'fanboys' that were stomping all over you were Obsidian fnaboys; not neccessarily BIO fanboys. Afterall, all you were doing was attacking Obsidian's work on NWN2 over some of the silliest stuff. Big whoop. No jumping, flying, or climbing. Oh the horror of it all!
-
Lists rock! 1. BG2 1. FO2 1.NWN 4.BG1 5.FO1 RU: FF8, FF6, and JE.

BL is good; but nowhere near that level. Not with the bugs, and some of the worst combat ever. Not to mention the unevenness of the story and role-playing progression.

Microsoft sued over alleged Xbox 360 glitch
Volourn replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
That was their choice. MS didn't force them to stand in line for 2 days. They're owed the money (either through refund or a new working x-box 360), and that's it. Anything else is legalized theft if the court decides in their favor immorally. The only obligation that MS has to those who may have bought defective x-box 360s is replacement ones or a refund of equal value. Just because someone decided to wiat 2 days in a line for it is not MS's responsibility just like it isn't the Harry Pooter writer's responsibility that people spent days wiating for the newest book or the theatre's fault that someone waite days to watch SW. That's silly talk. -
Microsoft sued over alleged Xbox 360 glitch
Volourn replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
Everyone should sue Bioware, Obsidian, Troika, and every other company then. Theys ell defetcive products! Hahahaha! Quite frankly, suing over something like is another way to legally steal money. If you buy soemthing that doesn't work as intended bring it back and get a refund. And, don't tell me you can't 'cause you can. The only thing people who bought a defective x-box 360 deserve is their money back. That's it. It's a waste of the court's time to dela with such frivilous lawsuits. -
I am the absolution of perfection. I am the all in allow. I am the one who made it all possible. P.S. Many have done it better. P.S.S. Why is it when anyone dies they automatically becaome the 'best ever'? Very, very silly. It's one thing to mourn someone passing; it's another thing to make up stuff.

Hmm.. Weird. Last i checked, FO is classless by the very definition of the term. Afterall, all skills, perks, and so forth are available to every character that have the minimum requirements that do not include classes. There is no 'fighter' or 'rogue' class in the game.

"Your really not getting though are you. You say that killing Golems was fun when you were clearly not using the most powerful or even sensible method available. Yet you critisice KOTOR for being easy when you took every advantage of the system." Actually, I didn't use the 'most powerful' stuff in KOTOR2. I played whatever role I decicded to take. I was role-playing a Monk Caster in JE so I played it as such just like I would in KOTOR. And, I didn't do that in JE until my third time through. The problem is that neither KOTOR was worthy enough for me to play a 2nd or espicially a 3rd time through. My first time through JE, I played my character and 'took advantage' of the 'powerful stuff'. Heck, my KOTOR2 characetr never used missle weapons at all, and would only use sword type weapoins ebfore he got the lightsbare. Even with the light sbre gems I would only use the gems that fit the character; not simply the more powerful ones. I don't consider it 'limiting'; I consider it 'role-playing'. "Since your definitions are now out in the open for all to see (and maybe laugh at) no need to continue this." If me role-playing is soemthing to laugh at, laugh away. LOL :D
-
"Fun taking 10 minutes to kill a golem was it?" Absolutely. Fun, and challenging. Unlike Kreia, and most KOTOR series combat.
-
"Even without Golem once you know the pattern its no different just add 10 seconds or so." That's nice. You consider something easy afetr you've died a few times, figure out the best way to beat it then kill it quick. That doesn't make it easy at all. As for taking off my armour to fight Kreia? 1. I'm not gonna play KOTOR2 again just to prove a point. I played the game once, enjoyed it, and (semi) moved on. 2. Taking off armour won't make all that much off a difference. On top of that, supposedly like Li is balanced for what characters are an dhave so should Kreia. preusmably she was balanced for character who had all that ph@t lewt. That's what we should be testing to see if the combat is easy. Might as well, take out all gems in JE or all items in KOTOR2 to test. then again, depsite being a Martial Artist in JE; KOTOR2's unarmed characters are much more powerful. Hehe. 3. All taking my armour off would do is me being hit on around an 8 or so instead and with 300+ hit points I'm not too worried... "And that character got crushed by golems." That character learned how to combat dance. Hehe. "No they all work the same there are no active increases in JE its all passive." Not quite true. You fight differently depending on the weapon. Staves have longe rrwach, swords are quicker, and axe is slower but can push enemies even frther back than normal. So, no, they don't work the same. P.S. To get back on topic, to me, role-playing itslef has very little to do with how the combat plays out. Both BL and JE have some of the best role-playing in any game I've seen yet both have RT combat. Go figure.

"Never said it didnt. I said it reduced the range of character customisation." Of course, this discussion began with Hades saying JE wasn't a CRPG, and me disagreeing. One of my quick points was the fact that the fact that JE has a limited inventory shouldn't stop it from being cosnidered a CRPG. You countered, and said it does. Now, you saying it doesn't? Hmm.. "Kreia was only easy because of your stuff Li is just easy period." No. Kreia is easy period. The stuff is because of ph@t lewt. "Golem and attack, dead in less than 30 seconds no uber equipment or even using gem stones." I cna beleive this. Golem is a little too overpwoered. Anyone doesn't use golem will have a lot more challenging time with Li, hwoever. With kreia, no matter what you do or what strategy you use, she is likely to be easy. There is only one way to make Li easy and its golem. When JE2 come sout, I hope BIO has balanced that power better. Cool idea - afterall, who doens't enjoy walkinga round as a golem - but, definitely a tad overpowering. Heh. "Really ? Didnt all your characters have at least one weapon skill, one MA skill and one magic skill ? Sounds pretty carbon copy to me." Nope. Becuase the differnet skills even those of the same category work different. For exmaple, having skill in the sword or having skill in the staff or having skill in the ax are three different abilities. And, my magic user character put absolutely no puts in any weapon skill. None. Zilch. Zero. My characetrs should didn't feel carbon copy, and they played differently within reason cosnidering they are all Kung Fu Masters much like all KOTOR characetrs are all Jedis. Talk about carbon copies. LOL
-
"No loot reduces the customisation options. Added to JE only having three stats made for some very samey characters." First part is true. But, just because item customization is lowered doesn't make it a non role-playing game either. JE only has 3 main stats, it also has 3 substats plus 3 dialogue skills. Not to mention all the other powers one can get and modify. I played and finished JE three times. All three characters played differently espicially when you throw in the different experiences you get with the different way of dealing with quests, npcs, and the like. In fact, my third character was all about magic and summons with no wepaons except against enemies that wer eimmune to them so I had to 'struggle' with melee weapons with my worthless abilities in that regard. "Fine if you want all your characters be carbon copies of each other in the way they play." Nope. No carbon copies. "Really, well why dont you share what you did to beat Kreia and then I'll tell you how to beat Li without any effort." Eh. Not much to say. I was a Jedi with super high ac (50+), super saving throws and ph@t lewt. I pointed my attack button on her and her sabre guardians and pressed it. Game over. They could only hit me on really high rolls like 19 or 20, and her force powers wer emostly a joke as I never failed a save. P.S. JE's engine ha svery little in common with KOTOR. Combat is more challenging, the role-playing is deeper, the quests are better with more ways to complete them, an dit has much better endings with 3 actual endings + varied endings for the different npcs (most of them, anyways).
-
"I was able to get him down to zero health in a single flurry though" Impressive.
-
Both KOTOR bosess were easier than JE's. Well. Malak could be tricky if you came unprepared without healing kits. And, you didn't have to fight Li at the end either. "Phat loot does define much of the customisation process and thats what JE lacks." Collecting ph@t lewt isn't role-playing. Role-playing is about making meaninful choices that effect your character, other characetrs, and the game world. JE allows this. It may not be the best Ph@t Lewt Collector Simulation; but since that isn't the genre it's in; no worries there. "Any of those sub 30 seconds and involve pressing only two buttons ?" Kreia. And, it only takes one click of button. Or a few more to beat up on ahc of her light sabres. I used a whole bunch of buttons to fight Li. "It doesn't feel like a CRPG. It feels like an action adventure game. Yes, it is bloody arbitrary. Deal with it." That's ok. It is still a role-playing game.
-
"Well, I like Jade Empire a lot and I don't consider it a CRPG." Why not? It has every thing a CRPG should have. Character based stats, and skills, multiple ways to complete quests, story based, joinable party members, role-playing in general. The only thing one could could argue is the real time combat it has; but that's balanced out by the fact that a character's stats are important to the combat (though not as much as say in FO or TOEE). So, why isn't it by your definition, not a CRPG? Because it's inventory system doens't allow yout o pick up ph@t loot ? Ph@t lewt collection doesn't equal role-playing. JE is more of a RPG than either KOTOR or TOEE, or even BG. Even BL is a RPG even with its RT combat.
-
"Given the stupidity evident on the bioware boards it wouldnt suprise me. But the fact still remains that TOEE requires more and faster knowledge of the rules than NwN." TOEE is full turn base. This means you aren't rushed. On top of that, you will have a party of at least 4. Include the fact that the various starting areas that have combat are really easy (even eaiser than the full game). P.S. Weird. I've seen the goblins in the prlogue do as much as double digits with a crit. They use short swords (and morningstars) so that's 1d6 -1 'cause IIRC they're strength is 8. But, that's old news. Heh. P.S.S. Enemies with 320k hp in a d20 rules etting (even one as simplified as the KOTOR series) just wouldn't work. The rules don't work with that. I know, I've seen some NWN PWs that think that's actually cute. LOL "White Wolf did a really good job at 'Vampire: Bloodline'. When you fought through the game, the difficulty changed. During battle is was realtime, and it worked out great. I felt like things keeped movine, and I didn't have to wait my turn to strike." WW didn't make it. Troika did. I enjoyed BL; but its combat was very poor, imo. Too easy, too boring, and simply not fun for me. however, one or two combats were. They weren't the norm. However, BL's story telling, dialogue, and role-playing was very, very good.
