  1. "On the grand spectrum of writing, neither Dragon Age nor Bloodlines are particularly good" wut? Both DA and BL have some of the best writing ever to be seen in games. yeah, they both have some over ther top cheesiness; but that's okay. But, yeah, it should have been obvious that lacroix was untrustworthy. I don't know why harlequin plays BIO games. I may a BIO 'fanboy' (who feels KOTOR is overrated and the OC is only worthy of of 75%ish); but at least I like the games I play. He seemingly does not. *shrug* The idea that vampires can turn someone 'bisexual' simply by vampires is a tad silly and is not a part of the typical vampire lore.
  2. If they were neccessary, then one would need them in your party. But, you don't. It's a draw as they're unneeded in both. Cool thing about majority of games is no 'class' is absolutely needed. "trap disarming was pretty important in bg." Nope. Didn't need it.
  3. "with a party of two and utilizing the D&D rules, such a thing were impossible. having genuine lethal traps when your 2-man party might be absent a thief would be resulting in more than a little player frustration." Never needed a rogue in BG2 and that was a 6 character party. In fact, i have never played a D&D game where you needed any class let alone a thief. "is some sucky da spells, regardless of what vol believes" Never thoughtr you'd be so ignorant. I didn't say there were NO useless spells. In fact, I named an entire line of spells that I find 'useless'. Just remember, a spell YOU find useless may not be so 'useless' to someone else. Just like BG2, or any other RPG with spells. Or heck, same with non spell talents/skills. Also, there was some rather dangerous traps in NWN - just as many as in any IE game. My perfect strategy for an IE game trap - run through it. R00fles!
  4. Doesn't matter. DA2 could eaisly be set in the future showing the effects of what occured in the Dragon Age hence earning the moniker. *shrug*
  5. "The title "Dragon" Age certainly puts a limit on the time when a sequel takes place. If they fast-forward a couple of centuries, it can't exactly be called Dragon Age anymore." By that logic, BG2 isn't BG2; but A1 right since it isn't set in Baldur's Gate anymore... Certainly didn't hurt hurt the game in any way. DA2 could be set anywhere, and anytime BIO wants and still be called DA2. All the name really does is suggest what kind of gamestyle/setting it'll likely be. My idea for DA2 is SPOILER, SPOILER, and SPOILER.
  6. I gottsa echo... SECRET!?!
  7. GB DAL NYG AT BUF CIN NYJ PHI INDY SEA SD SF TEN MIN BAL NO
  8. Disagree. It's very realistic, and very possible. But, I doubt BIO has the ballz to do it. They'll probably do the usual cop out. *shrug*
  9. Did you know that ME and DA are set in the same universe?
  10. "Cunning does very little for dialogue, yes. Persuade and intimidate options are aplenty, however." Cunning effects persusasion options.
  11. Hey, at least delete the post that started the mess. Anyways, sicne I finished the game, I'll be starting a new game with a human mage. Should be fun.
  12. "tell us again how wonderful the mako stuff were in ME and how magic in a Game is necessary unbalanced. is always some new silliness right 'round the corner when vol posts." yeah, it is horrible for someone liking something you don't. OMGZ ! Volourn likes the mako! What a horrible, horrible person he is. R00fles! As for arcane warrior, I've never tried so can't say but for those who have it does seem to be the strongest specialty.
  13. Wow. Grom doesn't want magic to be magic. He wants it to be just like 'real world' stuff. Might as well not call it magic, then. Let's call it Alternate Talents. And, sorry, 1/3 of DA spells are not useless. That's silly talk. You sound like the people who said a bunch of spells in BG2 were useless. They aren't. Just ebcause YOU don't find them useful (cause you didn't figure them out), doesn't mean they were useless.
  14. I will never understand why people will whine about not having enough inventory slots. There is way more than enough. Way too much. If anything, the game should be bashed for allowing to carry way too many armours at a time. And, serious? Can't tell Ostagar and Orzammar apart? Gah. You saved Sten? I did too. Big mistake. Guy is scumbag on feet. Evil to core.
  15. As a Ranger fan, I'm just waiting til Gaborik gets injured long term. Probably near the end of the season when the playoffs are coming up. L0LZ Barring injury, he has a shot at breaking Captain JJ's team goal record.
  16. Game comaonies are always failing. Heck, even Atari, one of the longtime 'stalwarts' crapped over the decades even during their heydey. Heck, the current Atari isn't even really the same Atari of old. Sorry, but all you prove is that gaming is a tough business to survive long term since it doesn't take much to fail. Just to elt you know a little secret, EA cna 'bleed' all the money they wnat, it isn't going anywhere. Let's also not forget one of the reasons EA 'bleeds' money is because it spent a billion dollars on two companies (one of which they just threw in the trash). EA will live on. EA still employs how many people? Quite a bit. Even MS fires people left and right. *shrug* Look at Blizzard. Successful company but certainly not the same company as it was 10 years ago. Bototm line is the gaming industry is making lots of money. IIRC, a recently released game just broke entertainment records... Go figure.
  17. "Though I personally do consider the Mage to be probably the most powerful class." I agree that, overall, they are. But, if one thinks about it, it pretty much has to be that way with any system with magic. With the variety and 'specialness' of magic it has to be unless you make magic to be so limited that it is really no longer magic. I'd hate a game that had magic but made it simply 'equal' to physical prowess. With magic, almost anything is possible... only so much one can do with 'real world stuff' which most fighters/rogue abilities would fall under. Heck, even the hide in plain site/hide in middle of battles are edging into the 'magic' territory. "I can agree that the battles aren't "tactical" in that there's almost no consideration for the terrain. Outside of putting an enemy outside my LOS, not much advantage in that regard IMO. I do think that there is a variety of ways you can build your characters, and how they can compliment each other's parties though, that are all valid." Tell that to the people who whined about archers shooting at them from a top a hill or behind a barricade. Or, the enemy that has it happen to them. While it is true more could have been done with terrain, it's certainly a few steps up from the BGs. Though it tends to be in favor of the PC's enemies since largely we are enterting their domains. One way to fix this is have the camp attacked more and you have the option to set traps (magic or normal) for them.
  18. "Its funny gaming is such a huge industry yet for so long its been allowed to be run into the ground by terrible businessmen. This situation is being characterized as "Oh gaming may have to grow up! The honeymoon is over!"" That's funny since the gaming industry is more successful than ever.
  19. DA's system isn't shallow or simple. Not even close. If it was, people wouldn't be complaining about how they don't understand how x effects y, z, or m. Nor would BIO have made combat even eaiser yet some people are supposedly (so they say) crusing through the game claiming that the final boss was 'easy' (as they drink dozens of potions). DA gives players LOTS of options. Lots, lots, lots, and lots of options. Way more than BG2 for sure. Or FO. Or say x favored game. Just ask people what the best melee combat style is. One eprson will claim wepaon and shield as worthless while another will claim 2 hander style is worthless. One will claim that their meleers die too quick while otehrs have problems keeping their mages as non targets. Others will whine that rogues are useless while others will brag about hiding in combat and how overpowered it is. Etc., etc. At least in DA - unlike BG2 - fighters have more options than 'swing' their sword and their options actually vary depending on what style they use. Another example is DA ogre vs BG2 ogre. BG2 ogre does nothing but attack while DA ogre will charge, throw stones for area effect damage, scoop a player up and punch him (much like the overwhelm attac), and do a mass attack that hits all players in melee including knocking them back/down. That's a lot of stuff that you gotta to watch out for. DA encounters are awesaome. Plain, and simple. DA > BG2
  20. "Dragon Age seems a bit too easy on normal, to me..." If you are on PC, it's because the first patched made easy and normal modes even easier because of all the complaining about 'hard' DA is.
  21. Funnily enough, I found Ms. Mass Boobie one of the easiest if not easier major boss battle in the game. Others, on the other hand, give me shudders - like the one right after that. <> I just meleed her and ignored the underlings. I think she's the only boss battle that i beat on the first try with nobody falling at all.
  22. "And Volourn you're right, but I still never put points into constitution." I should clarify that I rarely do too. Con is certainly the most important stat. But, it does help. "*shrugs* I encourge you to take him in a few battles with default stats, tactics and equipment on normal setting and tell me how much you have to baby sit him vs the others to keep him alive. I'd enjoy hearing your feedback on that." *shrugs* I did.. until I got Ogrhen since I like dwarves I took him. btw, He's also into 2 handed weapons. Sten did fine with default AI as I'm concentrating on playing the mages. Sure, he takes damage, but so does everybody. My mages were more likely to fall than my either of my melees, or rogue (when I actually used Leliana). There is no clear cut built that outclasses all except I guess the arane warrior built since I haven't tried that one. But, outside of shapechanger, nothing is utterly useless. Some of the most tough enemies are the ones who use 2 handed weapons as well. Sure, easy to hit them, but they do mondo damge - not to mention the sweep attack ability or the auto knock down chance talent. WOWSERS!
  23. You only have 4 characetrs. Your tank is NOT going to be able to draw every enemy to him.
  24. "either neutral or supportive, about 15% being kamikaze Bio-shills who'd buy anything Bio make anyway" YAY! I'm NOT one of the 15% since I most certainly don't buy anything BIO makes. HIP HIP HOORAY! "Bottom line I don't think finger pointing with 'well they do it too!' is a very legit excuse which is in essence your retort." Hilarious since you've used that same retort...
  25. *YAWN* 2 handers are awesome. SAeriosuly, people who keep claiming x is sueless, y is the 'only' way to go simply aren't trying. I had Sten in my party for a bit before I kicked the murdering scum out, and he was pretty useful. He did damage, he made the enemy cry, and he did alright survival wise.
