"New patch = no more replenishing Teller books, no?| Don't download new patch, no? Not worth the risk. The game is working reasonably fine as is. A patch could add new bugs. No thanks. Besdies, it's evil that all the people who are finished the game aslready got to enjoy this 'feature' but us 'latecomers' would get nerfed. L0L I know the claim that it wasn't intentional to have them respawn those books every level but I don't buy that because it's common practice in the game for all (or almost all) shopkeepers to spawn new items to sell. To me this is just them hearing about people whining about it and them changing it after the fact. ie. People bragging about the awesome MR of man at arms at level 5 but that's also been nerfed. LMAO You'd think they'd know this stuff with their pre release play testing. Patching should be fixing actual bugs not changing the game. That said, not like you need the books since if have an IQ of 50 the combat shouldn't be hard.

Exactly. And, when you get to 2nd map you pretty much a guy who specifically tells you where to go next to find WW. there is some freedom but you simply can't miss where to go. The foolishness of telling you what level your enemies are is lame and also is a hint of what to do. if you encounter enemies 3+ levels above you you probably are meant to go elsewhere. This sin't BG2 where 'weak' and 'tough' monsters are mixed. ala You have a situation where you'll find something like Firkragg's lair where the enemy power levels are mixed. Plus, Firkragg's lair is completely optional while most areas in DOS are required to some degree.

They told you exactly where to go. Find the White Witch.

No, they won't. They shouldn't be. Outside of Lebron, the team sucks. And, the management won't allow them to win anything worthwhile.

"Puzzles like this are a part of every good or great D&D campaign." No. "Another thing about this game - it's so big and varied I can just play at one aspect and lose myself for a bit and not give a toss about the critical path. or, in fact, anything else. And because there are no instructions, I feel like the only bloke in the world figuring this **** out." The whole game is the critical path pretty much. You can't 'get loss'.

"where suddenly lvl 3 enemies where (I was like lvl 5 by then)." Which likely were a cakewalk with no challenge and got old real quick. That's why this game is linear. It's lame that they tell you the enemies' exact levels too (and you don't need the 'lore' skill for it either).

How does one get 'lost'? There';s only so many places to go. That article is horrible.

"- Sold a quarter of a million units. - Sales curve is still rising because of word of mouth" The math here is dumb. First 3 days = 160k sales Next 11 days = 90k sales (game has been out for 2 weeks right?) How is the sales curve 'rising'? Also, 250k? Meh. Larian is nto some rinky dinky tiny company. Their previous games have sold over a million copies.

Limited character system compared to what? Certainly no the IE games which most people (foolishly) compare it to.

"Sorophx I'm going to try to explain something to you because you seem to misunderstanding why people are criticizing you and you seem to feel you are the victim There are people who have played DO:S for dozens of hours and really can comment on what's good and bad about the game. You formulated a dismissive view of the game based on a video. You can deny this or not but this is what is considered an uninformed view of something. When this was pointed out you become defensive. The so called "fanboy" support of this game is from people who have an informed opinion of the game, you are not debating from this perspective. In life its good to sometimes admit you are wrong about a topic, it doesn't make you weak or make future comments less relevant. But your continued debating around this topic has just made you sound silly End of the day you cannot really comment on the game and all its flaws until you have personally played it" WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! Someone doesn't like a game I like. WAAAAAAAAAAAAA! And, no, you don't need to play a game for 20 horus to know if you hate it or like it or it's bad or good. In fact, I have the counter argument - if you play agme for 20+ hours you obviously are enjoying. It shouldn't take more than a couple of hours to know whether a game is crap or not. In fact, EVERY SINGLE potential consumer for any productmakes a 'quality determination' before potentially buying a game. We all do. You are lying if you claim you don't. Him hating the game should NOT effect your enjoyment.

"Cyseal is Athkatlala (or something, still not sure how to write it) Light." No, it isn't. Not even in the same stratosphere. " Many enemies that totally pound you to kingdom come rather than scale to your level." Pound you? The game isn't hard. And, the fact that if you go the 'wrong way' and face off with enemies well aboe your level doesn't make it hard. It makes it linear. Why would you go through the game with level 6 monsters when you can go and face off with level 3 monsters sicne that's exactly where the game wants you to go?

"for old-school players like me" This game isn't old skool. Anyone who actually played and understood old skool games would know. Old skool is more than simply 'turn absed combat'. The fact it uses RPS tod etermine dialogue outcomes makes it IMPOSSIBLE for it to be old skool. And, the game does handhold. I mean, the games hands out 'popup advice' like candy even now when I'm level 10. HOLY MOLY! If I hadn't learn to play the game already don't you think i'd never have made it to level 10, stupid game. Anyone who thinks the game is hard is an idiot. The game isn't hard. Not even close.

"Difficulty curve in game is high" No. No, it isn't. Only for dumdums. "I would say that combat is very entertaining, writing is decent enough to read through, exploring is enjoyable thing to do and there is quite nice rewards for doing so," Agreed.

"I love the combat, but sometimes it'd be nice if there were a bit more clarity in terms of how exactly an action is going to play out. Sometimes when things are cluttered (which is ALL THE TIME based on how I play and area spells going off everywhere and OH GOSH NOW THE ENTIRE FIELD IS ON FIRE *AGAIN*), and the game isn't precise in showing off where exactly a spell will land and who exactly will get it. Sometimes I cast a spell where the radius covers all my targets, but for some reason none of them get hit (stupid boulder bash spell!)" Yeah, the enemies' animation don't help. Go to cast a spell and next thing you know your mage goes for a walk because sometimes when you click a spell it don't register. HAHA! Btw, Mr. Spider is one of the most overpowered summons in a game since maybe cheesing with skeles in cloudkill or fire elementals with fireball but at least those would die quick. Spider lasts 2-3 rounds and then on 4th you can summon him again. HAHA! Teleport spell is definitely one of my top 5 fave spells of all time. Too bad that the Chosen One(s) story is lame. "(why 4 inventories for one player, that's insane, one inventory PER player please)" That's a silly opinion. BIO did it your way with i think ME or was it DA2? It's lame. Every character should have an inventory. It's bad enoguh you can transfer items even if they are far apart. However, the inventories are too big (unlimited space is lame) and the weight for items is way too low.

I dunno... I think the current Heat (assuming even a 'lesser' Wade signs) is as good or even better than a Lebron led Cleveland. as they only have Lebron, and overrated one dmensional PG, and rookie center with super high expecations. The rest of the team is crap. And, a crap owner, horrible GM, a wannabe coach, and disgusting piece of crap selfish, whiny, pathetic, ignorant fanbase that Lebron seems brainwashed into thinking they love him. They don't. They only love the fact that he *might* win a championship for them and at least brings some credibility to the franchise. I mean, one thing for sure. They won't be getting the #1 pick next season. L0L
-
"I'm undecided as to who got the better end of the deal. :shifty:" Only an ignorant can think Deng is even 1/10th the player Lebron is. Come talk to me when he wins 4 MVPs. Anyways, the Heat should have a pretty good team next season. At least it won't be a Cleveland disaster. then agin, better owner and management does that. That's the big issue with James going back to CLE just because of the city. It is still owned by a crap owner who hire crap manager who makes crap decision.
-
If someone dislikes something that means it is crap to them. Not abig deal. Him hating the game does not and should not hurt your enjoyment. This doesn't mean i agree with him ether (I don't) but telling someone they can't call a game crap is silly. Just call him poopy head and move on.

"You can criticize everything in D:OS EXCEPT the combat." Bull. People can criticize anything they want. Just because they don't spam stuff you agree with doesn't mean they can't. They are not your slave.

KOTOR2 is not better than KOTOR1. They are both overrated average games. - "chapter 1 is nothing but finding gold for an expedition - chapter 2 is nothing but being a noble and fighting Qunari - chapter 3 is nothing but choose between Mages and Templar" Basically BG2.

They are RPGs. Deal with it. Even if you go with the notion that rpg = story even a RPG with a bad story is a rpg. Quality is irrelevant. Just like a bad sports game is still a sports game. Quality doesn't determine genre. That's foolish talk.

"That's the foundation of the game and is huge factor, if not the most important thing, in a RPG as the narrative is the base for your decisions that determine your RPG journey. Without a compelling story what would be the point of an RPG?" That's funny but story was never the 'base' of RPGs. The base is building your character largely based on combat with non combat stuff. Story, characters, even 'C&C' came later. I mean, D&D "the Originator" was originally just a combats imulater based on old war games. It's evolved. As for me, story 8is* important and CAN make or break a game but it is one of multiple things that make a RPG worth playing for me. Story, (including characters and writing), character system, C&C, combat, and the 'loot system' make up the good and bad RPGs. Some RPGs hit hoom runs with some categories and not others. ie. PST = great story but has bad combat. It's why BG2 is the 'best'. Beacuse, while it may not to all those aspects the best it's easily up there in all categories.

Baldur's Gate 3?
Volourn replied to projectx's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You are going too deep. I'm just hateful. Nothing complex. -
"You don't get an 87 on Metacritic by making a crappy game. Original Sin is one of the best crpgs of the last 5 years." L0LZ All the NWN haterz here want to bash you in the head now. L0L "That ****ing teleportation pyramid. Seriously, now I've got a swarm of town guards on my ass because I couldn't unlock the door and they never clarified I should drop the first pyramid before using it. Teleporting back to the first one is useless when you're carrying the first one in your pocket. Which is currently adorning you in the same room as the destination pyramid. With an angry naked woman calling for town guards when you try to escape through the supposedly always-passable door. Despite passing the speech/reason/charisma/whatever check. YEAH THANKS LARIAN." Did you try the unlocked door that leads to the outside. It's unlocked and no worries. Don't go through the locked door connected to the rest of the house.

Baldur's Gate 3?
Volourn replied to projectx's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
"Baldur's gate was a product of the Bioware/Black Isle partnership." No. It was Bioware + Feargus. BIS gets way too much credit for being the publisher. OMG! They helped playtest the game. LMAO -
"I think it's old school. You wanna fight about it?" Old skool is about rock-paper-scissors battles to 'win' dialogues? What happened to old fashion 'skill checks'? Old skool my butt.
