  1. are these shots from the PC version? i dont see how u can clip a xbox pic.
  2. i forgot to get the vocabulator on peragus and now i cant turn the stupid thing on.
  3. jedi guardian, cuz azure is the color of the guardians blade.
  4. Anyone know if Lucas made this up, or is it a real Japanese? word. I've been crawling the net for days and can only find references to Star Wars. I'm guessing it could be a word like JEDI... ie there is no real word jedi, or if there is, it doesnt quite mean what it alludes to.
  5. I disagree with there being only one Dark Lord, because Vader was called Dark Lord of the Sith in ANH and the Emperor was still his master. imo, they all annoint themselves with grand titles (they could all be Dark Lords of the Sith), but the key element is there is always a master and an apprentice. course, show me some proof and I'll change my mind.
  6. its latin nihil = nothing loosely translated, "empty of life" the latins predate the english and the english language. thanks.
  7. bane means the nemesis of. nihilus is a spin of the latin word nihilo/nihil which means nothing, as in "empty of life" yes its used in the political term nihilist which means "nothingist" = supports the theory of no government. anarchy = ana or chaotic, archy = government
  8. um actually [and by that i mean scientifically]... its just not tfeasible. First of all, if you go the plasma route, you are just containing the plasma in a magnetic field which basically means u have to strengthen the magnetic field to the strength of a dense solid [ie steel or better]. You're better off just making a sword out of steel [cost: 40.00 less machine stamp] instead of making a hand sized nuclear cell and magnetic field generator. Say you want to make one actually out of a laser, or light. Well you still need a magnetic field to contain all the light protons. Even if you didnt, you have to control the atoms to create a steel strength material. Again, for 40.00 you could just stamp out a steel blade instead of making a portable magfield reactor-emitter-controller. And if by some crazy miracle you were able to make the magnetic field/atom controller, why would you just make a sword. Why not make a beam weapon and make someone's brain implode from far away? I think realistically, it would be more feasible to just make a flourescent of phosphourescent steel sword, that "glows" when attached to an electric charge. And then you still need to get close enough to use it.
  9. Ex nihilo, nihilo fit. From nothing comes nothing, latin. I think Darth Nihilus is a translation on that, whereby nihilus = nothing = empty of life. As for mendacious, it is a good word but imho its not as good as the Lucas current set of evil words Sith = sin Vader etc S V M K are all the [basic] evil vowels. Sin, Murder, Kill, Evil
  10. Bad: now that Im in my 70th hour, why couldnt they create some new planets instead of just taking the old KOTOR ones and adding new guys? Good: cmon, u start out as a guardian/sentinel/consular and not soldier/scout,etc. New classes are good, as is turning other folks to the jedi side.
  11. Congress? what do they vote on? I think its more like Highlander. There can be only one.
  12. imho, if u want to write a story, go ahead. its just u needn't create the origins of the sith and the long lineage. part of lucas plan is to make the stories 'timeless'. its sort of like the bible -- In the Beginning there was Light. a lot of people question, well where the smack did the Light come from?? and as much as i hate to say it, there are inconsistencies between the movies and kotor1/2 (<3 u KOTOR1!)... ie the naboo PM saying "there hasnt been a full scale war since the formation of the republic", and then in KOTOR1 we see a full scale war (btw I sooo dig the full scale war). i also wonder, as much as we all love seeing a Sith Empire, the starwars databank said they were shrouded in secrecy for a long time, so the Sith rule can only have happened in the ancient/Bane era, prior to the Republic. Here's two extrapolations for you; - Since Lucas based the jedi/sith on samurai, the Sith probably would resemble the samurai wars of feudal Japan with 1 Emperor and many vassals duking it out for ascension. - Every article in the SW databank indicates it was always fallen jedi who went and started these Sith clans. I would guess they are violent variations of the jedi. So if you need to detail the creation of the Sith Order, start there. In terms of the Sith world, think of feudal japan with samurais being upper caste and the common citizenry worshipping the samurai. maybe i should write something. Then again, feel free to create your own ideas. Half the fun is reading a new idea.
  13. i find the names interesting. most of them have excellent dichotomy darth vader = father/invader... v is the primary sound of evil darth sidious = insidious, or Working or spreading harmfully in a subtle or stealthy manner: insidious rumors; an insidious disease. (dictionary.com) darth maul = mal, the latin prefix for malefic, malicious, or bad/evil/dark darth tyrannus = tyranny, rule (intriguing because he was trying to "rule" the galaxy through seccession). i dont think there's any rhyme or reason to why they are what they are.
  14. mmm no. JTB baptized Jesus but Jesus ultimately looked to God for guidance. Luke was guided by OWK and Yoda and Im pretty sure they do not equal God.
  15. There is no "cannon" to the Sith, or even the Sith golden age. If you are talking about the dark jedi Sith and not the feeble aliens that worshipped them, then the caste structure should be: Sith "Emperor" Sith Lords Sith Knights Sith Soldiers (non-force users) And if you follow the cannon, then these Sith ALWAYS plotted against each other until Darth Bane who whacked everyone else and ascended as the Emperor.
  16. zahn makes me barf. imo the films are about adventure. do SITH WARS and have full on dark jedi vs. jedi (KOTORI). KOTORI was so well done, i actually cried JK about the crying part.
  17. sorry bubba The SITH (www.starwars.com) An ancient order of Force-practitioners devoted to the dark side and determined to destroy the Jedi, the Sith were a menace long thought extinct. The current incarnation of the Sith is the result of a rogue Jedi dissident from the order. Two thousand years ago, this Jedi had come to the understanding that the true power of the Force lay not through contemplation and passivity. Only by tapping its dark side could its true potential be gained. The Jedi Council at the time balked at this new direction. The Dark Jedi was outcast, but he eventually gained followers to his new order. Awakening beliefs from the dark past, the new Sith cult continued to grow. With the promise of new powers attainable by tapping into the hateful energies of the dark side, it was only a matter of time before the order self-destructed. Internecine struggle by power-hungry Sith practioners dwindled their numbers. One Sith had the cunning to survive. Darth Bane restructured the cult, so that there could only be two -- no more, no less -- a master, and an apprentice. Bane adopted cunning, subterfuge, and stealth as the fundamental tenets of the Sith order. Bane took an apprentice. When that apprentice succeeded him, that new Sith Lord would take an apprentice. Thus, the Sith quietly continued for centuries, until the time of Darth Sidious and his apprentice, Darth Maul. By that time, the galaxy at large had believed the Sith to be extinct, a fabled threat from the past. Qui-Gon Jinn's report of a Sith attack on Tatooine was met by the Jedi Council with hesitation and skepticism. Surely if the Sith had returned, the Jedi would have detected it, they reasoned. The dark side, for all its power, is ultimately hard to detect when required. A shadowy master like Darth Sidious was able to keep his presence a secret, even when sharing a world with the Jedi Temple. With the death of Darth Maul at Naboo, the Jedi Council realized that the Sith menace was true. What they hadn't puzzled was whether Maul was the master, or the apprentice. Years would pass before the Sith menace arose once more, a menace that would eventually come to engulf the entire galaxy. The JEDI ORDER (www.starwars.com) A noble order of protectors unified by their belief and observance of the Force, the Jedi hearken back to a more civilized, classical time in galactic history. Their order is ancient, spanning over a thousand generations. As the Galactic Republic throve and grew over the centuries, the Jedi came to serve it as guardians of peace and justice. Headquartered on Coruscant, the Jedi trained, studied, and planned from the impressive Jedi Temple, a towering edifice rising high above the surrounding structures on the city-planet. They are governed by a High Council of 12 Jedi -- most of them Jedi Masters -- who contemplate the very nature of the Force. To become a Jedi requires the deepest commitment and most serious mind. It is not a venture to be undertaken lightly. As such, Jedi instruction is rigidly structured and codified to enforce discipline and hinder transgression. Only 20 Jedi have ever voluntarily renounced their commissions. It is with great regret that the Jedi order recognize the so-called "Lost Twenty." A Jedi who fails in his training can be a very serious threat. The dark side of the Force beckons to the impatient, and students in the past have been lured to its call with devastating consequences. Jedi candidates are detected, identified and taken into the order as infants. One method of detection is through blood sampling -- those with great Force potential often have high midi-chlorian counts in their bloodstream. A prospective Jedi begins training in infancy. All connection to previous family life is lost. In this early stage of training, a single master instructs groups, or clans, of Jedi hopefuls. As the Jedi mature, the apprentice is paired with a master to continue the next phase of the training. According to the Jedi Code, a Jedi Master may only have one Padawan at a time. Near the end of the Padawan's training, she must undergo trials before ascending to the rank of Knight. The next level of rank in the Jedi order is the Jedi Master, reserved for those who have shown exceptional devotion and skill in the Force. It is from the ranks of the Jedi Masters that the High Council is chosen, which is the main interface between the Jedi and the government of the Republic. The Jedi dress in simple robes and carry specialized field gear for their missions. Their signature weapon, the lightsaber, is both elegant and deadly when in the hands of a trained master. The sworn enemies of the Jedi are the Sith -- a cult-like order bent on domination through subservience to the Force's dark side. Founded by former Jedi, the Sith abandoned the precepts of knowledge and defense, and instead seek abandon and strength through the Force's hateful energies. Centuries ago, the Jedi destroyed the Sith order. A dangerous complacency set it, wherein the Jedi believed the Sith extinct. Little did they know the order would arise anew, to destroy their ranks. At first, the signs were few. The sudden appearance of a Sith attacker during the Battle of Naboo was startling to the Council, but that threat was dispatched. Still, according to Sith lore, the dark villains always traveled in pairs -- a master, and apprentice. For a decade, there was no physical signs of the remaining Dark Lord, but evidence of his power began to appear. The Jedi ability to use the Force inexplicably began to diminish. This, coupled with increasing violence in the galaxy sparked by a Separatist movement overburdened the valiant protectors. Their ranks were spread thin trying to maintain the peace, and many Jedi fell during the crisis. When it came to war, and the first shots of the Clone Wars were fired on Geonosis, only a scant 200 Jedi were readily available for the conflict. Most of this taskforce was killed in the battle, but reinforcements, in the form of the Republic's new military, secured a victory against the Separatists. When the Empire came to power, the Jedi order was exterminated by Emperor Palpatine, and his Sith Lord apprentice Darth Vader. During the time of the Galactic Civil War, the Jedi were all but extinct. A few survivors, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Jedi Master Yoda, were able to train the first new Jedi in a generation. As a sign of the desperate times, Luke Skywalker was taken into the Jedi fold well past the traditional age requirements -- he was already an adult when he first picked up the lightsaber. Nonetheless, his raw talent in the Force -- inherited from his father -- was such that his age didn't matter. Luke Skywalker scored numerous major victories against the Empire, and was able to lure Darth Vader from the grip of the dark side. Vader, once again Anakin Skywalker, defeated Emperor Palpatine, bringing an end to the Sith reign of terror that had seized the galaxy.
  18. i disagree with marines, or any us military organization. the fact is mandalorians appear to live to fight. the usmc is honorable and experienced and professional, however, they live to provide service to USA, whereas mandalorian invasions seem to be spite/battle driven. maybe thats the only difference? and btw; seals are primarily recon, small strike teams and not a full army as mandalorians.
  19. please quote your source. i imagine starwars.com interesting shizzle.
  20. the only things a guardian really needs is your main attribute (str or dex) and lots of feats. the skills and force powers are secondary since you'll be the tank in battle. basically anything u need to be created -- use bao dur or T3. make kreia or visas focus in your force powers. make sure u get your tank a dope lightsaber. very important.
  21. i bought a cyan crystal on telos. i found an orange crystal somewhere... i think dantooine/locked up enclave guy.
  22. And dont say you were away since the Mandolorian wars.
  23. The Sith are a little bit of a paradox. While there is always a master and an apprentice, the Sith also likes to have armies of evil henchmen running around. My guess is that everything starts with a horde of servants and usually ends up with the master and apprentice. If so, its not unreasonable that Revan had several top dark jedi aides and Malak was the one who superceded all of them.
