  1. Fix the freezing after cutscenes bug on ATI cards!
  2. The problem when you say that is that KotOR worked fine for these people- and I've heard that if you get a saved game and load that, then you can play it fine on an unsupported card- until the next cutscene, but I have yet to try this out... Besides, I've read people who have 9800's with this exact problem.
  3. Ahhhh, LA, so helpful.... if it makes u feel any better, my video card isn't supported by any games at all that I can think of, and yet runs them just fine (except for this one). "Supported" only means that they didn't test it. I'm not sure ATI will fix it either, but hey we can hope. I'm placing my money on a patch to solve it... :D
  4. So... is the PC version gonna get a patch?
  5. Don't suppose anyone could send me a save game so I can see if its the whole thing that won't run or if its just after cutscenes? PM me if you can, it would mean a lot to me if someone could, cheers!
  6. If you co to the configure tab on the autorun screen that comes up when you put the CD in, then scan hardware- the report will tell you all you need to know.
  7. When you say 4.9 "classic" do you mean the version with the control panel as opposed to the catalyst control centre?
  8. ok, i will try to explain further.. after the intro movie, the game should jump to the part where your character is in that kolto-tank, but it doesent the screen just turnes black.. i am atm not able to send the game since im afar from home where i have it .. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no worries, I'll go home next weekend and try the same thing (unless anyone else wants to send one ), but by specs I meant graphics card, processor etc- sorry should have made that clearer
  9. cud u post a link to the other thread?
  10. You're gonna need to give specs before anyone can help... but having said that, you're not alone with this problem... the only downside to that is that nobody I've heard knows how to fix it yet... Of course, if it is just after cut scenes and not throughout the game, then that means it might me fixed by a patch... if we get a patch... P.s. don't spose u cud send us that save game??
  11. Yep, I've the same problem with a 345M. I have been wondering, of late, though if its just that bit... wouldn't mind getting hold of a saved game and seeing if it would work from that...
  12. Yep, I got the same problem, with the same card.... wouldn't happen to be crashing just as you get to the ebon hawk after the first cutscene would you? Not that I can help, it just feels better to know I'm not alone Anyway, I've searched a lot over the past year for OGL 1.4.0, but I can't find anywhere to download it... sorry. I doubt that's the problem though. Have you got windows Xp Sp2?
  13. I got that exact same problem, only with; ati radeon 345M- 128mb 384mb ram modded 'neutral catalyst' 4.1 drivers (and before you say it- I've tried 4.11 upwards ) pentium 4 2.4Ghz windows XP sp2 Kotor worked fine....
  14. I have it, but I can't play it coz it won't work... off to the tech support forums for me...
  15. does that include CTD ing after the first cutscene?
  16. Anyone tried 4.1's and 4.2's, just out of interest, because they ran KotOR better than any other Catalysts, according to the thread on Bioware's self help forum for the first game.
  17. I don't think any in the uk has got it yet. But i could be wrong. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sadly, I think you're right I went down today and looked in all the shops in the city centre that sell PC games (i was going to Tesco's anyway- no honest!) but nobody did. Ah well... guess I'll have to keep playin Rome Total War... bugger " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Only 1 more. Nice early night then it is TSL day! WooHoo! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Early nite? What is this?... I can't find it in the Oxford English Dictionary for Students anywhere, lol.
  18. The latest ones aren't always the best ones to use. Haven't tried the 5.2's yet tho, sorry
  19. The game seems to be getting along with the 4.11's on some people's cards, as far as i can make out, and KoTOR I worked well with the 4.1's and 4.2's, but KotOR II might not support them, because they're old. Have you tried using modded drivers like Omega, DNA or UniAM? Can't garauntee anything, but some people's problems have been sorted just by experiamenting with driver sets for the video card.

  21. Anyone from Liverpool got it yet?
  22. Apparently the 4.12 catalysts onwards have resurrected (cool word) the crashing problems of old (tho, I've got Omega 4.12's and never had a problem- but then I don't have a 9600M) so try the 4.11's.
  23. DS Luke has a point- spyware and viruses such as worms reeeeally slow down your computer, but you probably know that already Another trick I picked up was to go in to the Direct X dialogue box (start> run> type 'dxdiag') and turning off AGP texture acceleration in the display tab, then turning down the hardware sound acceleration level in the sound tab. Might help, certainly seemed to push KotOR over the edge of playabiltiy for me.
  24. Yer, I've got a ****ty card in my laptop, and while it will play KotOR, it ain't brill. If anything, Omega are slightly better drivers (tho, u may need to overclock the processor because- on mine at least- it initially underclocks the card. Set to bios default if ur not sure what the speed shud b), but there's really nothing in it- and the 4.12's are better than the 5.1's, generally. You're best bet for better performance is to get more RAM, but even that may not do much (I got sum, but haven't installed it yet, so if u want I'll PM you and tell you how it went). I'm gonna go home when I get the game (i'm in liverpool at uni at the mo) and play it on my mum's desktop, which has a decent Nvidia P.S. the Bioware forums has a thread on ATI drivers for KOTOR, and they figured out that the 4.2 builds are the best... though, I personally thought it was the 4.1's. The problem with them is that they're old, so while they will run KotOR quite well, they won't run newer games (Rome Total War won't work on them, for eg) Beyond that it really is a case of tweaking things on the control panel... sorry mate, I feel ur pain. BTW, how did the first one work on ur laptop? P.p.s ooops, this post was only 5 lines long at the first edit.... I've created a monster! lol
