Bad thing happen to good people...
Darth Somethingorother replied to Bobba Fett's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think that would actually be a really good idea. I think we need more failure in RPG's. It might make the game more challenging if there were actual consequences to failing a quest, rather than just a "sorry, I didn't find the parts. Ah well" "yea, ah well, now i'll just have to leave my cart. Darn" -
Comment on Release Dates...

Who is Canada's head of State? The Queen (of Britain+the commnwealth) therefore not GW. Who is Canada's PM, or president or whatever? Not Dub'ya. Is Canada the 52nd state? No. Is, in fact Canada in any way related to the USA other than the fact that they share border. Border as in USA one side, Canada the other. Border as in December release one side, February release the other. Surely it's not rocket science people? EDIT: I don't mean to get at anyone by that, and I'm sorry if anyone felt offended by it, it's just that that has been a question in the air for a while, and I simply find the whole scenario very unlikely, what with Canada being an independant country and all. Not like the American rebels. -

They only ever say that the US xbox version is out in December, and the last time I checked, Canada claimed that it was a different country. Maybe there's been a war? I doubt it though. At least you guys at Obsidian care enough to explain the situation, thx. -

Also, if the US xbox version has bugs, then they'll have 2 months to correct it for the international and PC versions Mwahahahahahahahahaha! BTW isn't it a bit insulting to the devs to say that they will make a crappy PC port? They've clearly been working hard on both versions, it's just that the code for Xbox was out sooner than the PC's. That's not favouritism, that's the way it is. Secondly on that, KOTOR is way easier to play on the PC, did anyone notice on that Aussie video that the guy kept pausing to make another move in battle. U don't have to do that when you have a mouse.

NEW KOTOR 2 footage
Darth Somethingorother replied to Craftsman's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yea thanks, I feel better now! -
I've noticed too and it worries me a bit. With everything going on all over the world with wars and famine it strikes me as a little silly to get all huffypuffy over a video game. Just calm yourselves and go play Fable until february or go try Star Wars Battlefront if you need some Star Wars action. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i agree with both these people....although it is terrible that the pc version is coming out 2 months after the xbox one it is only a video game....its not like its torture for every second that we r waiting for kotor 2 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> lol, Speak for yourself!

I think the most awesome message anyone could send, PC AND Billy Gates Box gamers could send, is if everyone started pulling their preorders, even if they do intend to go out and buy it as soon as it hits the shelves. Myself, I'd sure get a chuckle out of seeing it actually go 'Un-Gold'. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ahh, yes. wouldn't it be great to see the look on that chubby git's face? -

You're assuming america is representative of the rest of the world...no way .5 of world has x-box. That's absurd. Also, not even 1/5 of AMERICA'S population has an x-box. I"d guess more like 1/100th of population of China has x-box (absolute conjecture, so if anyone could find stats...), if that. Really, the american assumption tends to be that the rest of the world is relatively rich like us...we don't understand that if you have an x-box, you're probably not poor. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't expect you guys to read the entire thread like I did, most of you actually have a life, but you could at least read the last two pages before posting. It's 8.6 million in the entire world excluding the US. Most of those were in Europe. That means that Asia has significantly less than 1/100. <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So, whatever the facts and figures, LA have still pissed off the majority of their paying customers. -

a million millions is 1,000,000,000,000 or in other words thats 1 trillion not 1 billion or 1,000,000,000. I have to ask where where did you learn that 1 trillion = 1 billion? in the first arguement you state that the world population is "6 billion" by your standard of measure that would equal 6 trillion? I know this has no relevance to the given topic but I just had to ask and by no means to I mean to offend or sounds like an arse I just had to ask because it was bugging me. As for below the poverty line that would consit of someone making less than I think $10,000.00 US or $20,000.00 Euro/CAN if I am not misstaken though I could be wrong someone from the states might be able to give the proper info for the US. Now on topic: Good work on finding that info on the number of Xbox owners in both the world and US, Servant of Eru and Atomic Space Vixen. I came up with one thought as to why LA might have held back the PC version till Feb (saying they are going to release the international version at the same time), because they figured it would severly limit the ammount of loss they would incure do to P2P file transfer and ilegal coping. The way I figure it is they thought that if they released the PC version to the US and then had to wait till feb to release the internation version that most people who have the internet would just download it in order to avoid the wait. I know that alot of games now come with anti-copy protection built in but with the proper knowledge it can be easily usurped. Thus in their eyes it would make more sense to release the game on the Xbox and maybe risk loosing some sales rather than releasing the game on both platforms and risk loosing a greater number of sales from people either obtaining the game iligaly through pirating or purchase in the US and Canada. As far as I know there isn't a way to copy a Xbox game and make it work on another xbox or PC though once agian I could be wrong on that. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just to clear this up; a million millions is only a trillion in the USA. everywhere else (or at least in the UK) it is a billion. A billion billions is a trillion and so on. I have a GCSE in maths. that's where i was taught it. -

I agree. Although I think the difference may be that the XBox version sells for, what, close to $80 per game? PC versions can be had for $49.99. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 80$!!! What in the World are you talking about? its like 50$ for xbox. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was certainly more expensive for the Xbox in GB than it was for the PC. -

The number I've been able to find as of the end of 2003 was 13.7 million XBoxes worldwide, 8.6 million in North America. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Great, now add that to all the pc users worldwide. I'll admit I got it badly wrong, it's v. late where i am, but it's not just xbox users. The fact remains that US xbox owners are a tiny percentage of the target demographic, and so it is patently unfair of LA to favour them like that, k? -

Darth Somethingorother replied to Adria Teksuni's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Wait, wait, wait. If I'm misreading what you wrote, then I'll apologize right now. But did you just say that probably HALF of the world's population owns an XBox? Do you realize that probably close to 70% of the world's population lives BELOW the poverty line, meaning that they probably don't even make enough money in a YEAR to buy an XBox. I know it has very little to do with the topic, but your estimate of half of the world's population owning an Xbox is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY off. But if that's not what you meant, then ignore this post. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Fine, but w're still talking billions, not just millions, and theres a big difference, especially considering my billions are a million millions, not the US thousand millions. And, define, "below the poverty line". My cousin is "below the poverty line", but he still has an xbox. -

There is nowhere near 50 million XBoxes in the US. Maybe worldwide, so you're actually hurting your argument by estimating so high. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not exactly helping your by saying that either are ya? P.S. I'd sell it in India, as they have at least the second largest population in the world, and also plenty of them own PC's (india's not as poor as a lot of people seem to think) Anyway, lucasarts don't lose money by holding it until February, just their Xmas sale figures. All it is is companies doing the company equivalent of "my ****'* bigger than yours. -

I've very curious what the heck these numbers you're quoting are. I can't think of anything that comes anywhere near these (except the population of the planet, which is greater than 3 billion). <{POST_SNAPBACK}> America's population is about 300 million taking into account mormonism, if each houshold has an xbox owner your looking at 50-60 million people who actually own and play an xbox. I could be wrong, of course, but its only common sense. The world's population is over 3b, yes, in fact its over 6 billion (before you tell ME to get MY facts straight) Around half of them probably own an xbox, again, I could be wrong, but the point was that u get the idea right? there are, in fact, other places in the world than America, and that America isn't even the world's largest country, therefore giving KOTOR2 early to a small percentage is unfair on the rest of us. Darth Sirius, i couldn't agree with you more. -

I've given up on the lawsuit, though I was actually insane enough to do it, had the funds ready to go, and all. But since I invisioned it as a team effort of KotOR community might, and I was really the only one who seemed interested in pursuing it.... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's a pity, u had my vote, it would've been interesting to see. -

perfectly good song. what would be the big deal with it being held back? Who would be treated unfairly? Had they issued simultanious release dates, would x box users in the US be complaining? No, they wouldn't because we'd all get it at the same time. This way there is an element of annoyance. So what exactly would be wrong with "my way" as you put it. Would it not have suited everyone? I don't expect the release date to be pushed back. All I'm saying is that they've handled it in a way which has upset some people, as you can see from the sheer amount of reaction to it. People aren't reacting over nothing. They're reacting because they've been treated very badly, and haven't had so much as an apology. "If i remember the trailer they showed the xbox version of KOTOR 2.....and at the end of the trailer....it said winter 2004......maybe they meant xbox version to be released in 2004 since the start" No because it showed the Xbox and PCCD logos, sorry. -

How's it unfair on PC gamers exactly? They get the game ANYWAY in February....it's not like waiting 2 months is going to hurt them. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just like it wouldn't hurt US xbox customers, you mean?
