  1. yup i'm in the pit itself facing hanharr!
  2. i\'m on nar shadaa and i did all the dark side quests, but i still can\'t get hanharr?!! i\'m about 20% towards dark.. you can see the creases on my PC\'s face. been trying to get hanharr cos he\'s the only NPC character i haven\'t seen. i was so amazed when i was granted control of mira instead?!

  4. right on the ball. i really agree with you on how subtle te romance was. romance doesn't need to be in your face obvious to be romance. it can be so subtle that you knw your character and atton/visas/brianna/mical have something going on... that is more realistic than any scripted kiss or iloveyou. when carth onasi told my female revan that he loved her, i laughed out loud cos it sounded so ridiculous. it was purely scripted. in terms of story, TSL beats the original kotor hands down!
  5. i never got him to come out. what was he? like... what species, what was his name...
  6. how do u get all these funky crystals? i only ever came across some gemstone after completing both dantooine and onderon trade routes quest on nar shadaa
  7. Upgrade: Biorestorative underlay Mark IV Robe: Barad Dor Robes (Maybe have gotten the spelling wrong...) Also the upgradable Jal Shey Neophyte Armor. Yum. Melee weapon: Arg'garok (You can be armed with two Arg'garoks and its as good as a two lightsabers. Woohoo. My Mandalore was running around with two of those on the Ravager. He was just as powerful as my Sith Assassin.) Crystal: Viridian (The colour is just so pretty!)
  8. i just got a bronze crystal for the first time, and it seriously looks EXACTLY like orange. bummer. anyway, i was doing some upgrades on the ebon hawk workbench when i finished, turned around and realised that HK-47 was glowing blue?! and i walked around the ship and mandalore, go-to and mira were all glowing according to the respective shields i had equipped them with. weird!
  9. i think kotor 2 was far more subtle than kotor 1. kotor 1 was a good game but kotor 2 was a good STORY. thats a pretty rare achievement for a sequel... what makes the difference in 2 is: 1) the realistic voice acting 2) the carefully crafted script and the superior writing 3) the complex, subtle structure of the entire plot sometimes i felt like i was watching a 40 hour RPG movie. oscar-winning.
  10. i just killed zez kai eli in a DS playthrough. how come i didn't get ANY dark side points?
  11. The Vatican is a lousy parallel for the Jedi. The Jedi are samurai-inspired keepers of the peace. The Vatican are religious figureheads and keepers of the peace. The Jedi have a duty to sacrifice their lives, and the combat training, hence they have the capabilities to help in the Mandalorian Wars. The Vatican are just a religious posse. A better parallel would be the United Nations, who have combat capabilities. Maybe think about what it would be like if the United Nations "did nothing" during WWII... I believe that's a better analogy for the Council and hte Mandalorian Wars.
  12. i finally managed to trigger that conversation in the game... that was definitely a major "magic" moment for me. i was so angry when mira asked me about my glow, if it was due to me and atton hooking up a power coupling... and i didn't have any options to say yes. if your heart melted at that pazaak line, my heart broke at my lack of appropriate conversation option! honestly, atton is miles better than carth onasi. carth looks weird. his eyes are too small... atton is far more believable (and unattainable) as a love interest. when carth told my female LS revan that he loved her, i nearly puked onto my keyboard... it was just sooooooooooo cheesyyyyyy.... i'm definitely an Atton fangirl! on my first playthrough, mira asked me about disciple... and i didnt even look at the options before hitting the "no we don't have that kind of relationship" option. it was my instant reaction! i just don't like disciple. is there an option to say yes for disciple? or is it a dead end like atton?
  13. Replied! Here's my post here for reference. Hey Dan, I need to replay II to refresh certain aspects of it in my mind, esp for Visas. I was more interested in the Disciple/Atton problem and cos I never played Male, I never got to see as much of Visas as the Male players did. Gonna playthrough again soon as LSM, just to find out all I missed from the first time around. I'll let you know once I've done that and formed an opinion on it. I do remember bringing her along with me on Onderon, and losing influence with her because I chose Queen Talia over Vaklu the ass. I really didn't like that But I really agree with you on how Obsidian structured the characters in a very interesting way, with the top layer given and the rest left to you to find out or figure out. The influence device made things very frustrating to gain information but it added stunningly to the believability of the characters. I especially admire the way the writing left a lot of us to figure things out. Look at the numerous posts on this board regarding the story. It made TSL a thinking game, in a very un-Star Wars style. It has totally reinvented the spirit of Star Wars - in many ways TSL is an extremely sophisticated game for adults, in a way the entire StarWars franchise is a more simple story targetted at a General audience. I hope Obsidian tries again, with a longer deadline. If Obsidian does KotOR III and it comes out in like 2 years time I really don't mind. I'll be the first one in line to buy it

  15. I'm one of those rare people who got their introduction to the KotOR world with The Sith Lords, and I was able to see II without any biases from having played I. Twas an experience that gave me a very unique viewpoint and I'll just tell you what I saw from my point of view from playing the two games backward. Prepare for a long post... Plot Advancement/Game design The Sith Lords: Influence made finding out about characters prohibitively difficult. This aspect of the game wasn't intuitive enough such that the average gamer would be able to tell when and where to do what, in order to get what they wanted. It was a bad decision to base an important plot advancement aspect such as character background, on a device that didn't guarantee the gamer would be able to find out everything. Lots of "huh" moments cos of that. One very interesting thing about the sequel was that light and dark side choices began to blur. You could select what you thought was a light side choice and dark side outcome could occur (e.g. giving the beggar on Nar Shadda money, and seeing him getting robbed cos of it). Original: Gaining character backgrounds based on experience points was a good way to let the gamer know about the back stories in stages. This guaranteed the gamer would be able to find out everything, and also keep interest piqued throughout the game. In this sense, it was good to keep things simple to avoid giving gamers a "huh" moment, which occured pretty often in TSL Bosses/Combat The Sith Lords: Definitely more difficult than the original. The end game, where you fight on telos/ravager, has Mandalore as a forced character, which means that you're weaker cos he is non-Jedi. Not to mention, Malachor V, where you are forced to travel alone and where you face Storm Beasts that really threaten to whip your ass. I found those were much more difficult than the Sith army waiting in Trayus Academy and that was only the preliminary endgame! Bosses were a walkover, however, except for Kreia and her lightsaber grandchildren. I liked the feats. My TSL Guardian was more powerful than my original game Guardian. Original: When I played the original's endgame I was like huh? I actually have a PARTY with me for the endgame? This is so easy compared to Malachor V/Trayus Academy, where I was saving every two rooms - I was that terrified of dying... Malak and his Jedi grandchildren were so repetitive. It got boring after awhile cos I used my run-and-saber technique. Was a Guardian so I saved my precious Force Points for Master Speed. I found Bastila reminiscent of Darth Sion (the resurrecting aspect) and also Kreia (a member of your party who becomes final boss aspect). I enjoyed turning Bastila to light side. That was the only combat aspect that I preferred over the sequel. I didn't like the animations for feats, especially Force Wave. It was fine-tuned in the sequel and much better done there. Storyline The Sith Lords: The writing is simply brilliant. Where the original failed in depth and dimensionality, the sequel succeeded in creating a dark, deeply disturbing and most importantly, resonant storyline. Who would have conceived of Force "wounds" and a final boss who was neither Jedi nor Sith (Kreia, who wants to get rid of the Force)? Here's where the game's ambitious complexity succeeded very well. The plot devices simply absorb you into the story. No one ridicules the storyline, it is only weakened by the ending. The game asks pertinent questions about light and dark as well as the Force itself, and gives them a depth that transforms these concepts into more than children's science mythology. George Lucas should shake in his Stormtrooper boots. Original: The light side and dark side are flat, 2-dimensional concepts with a very clear line drawn between the two. Yawn. Boring. So Enid Blyton. Characters The Sith Lords: I far preferred the sequel in terms of characters. They somehow seem to resonate very deeply - and they provoke debate, as seen in the countless threads and polls on this forum. They have a lot of depth and believability. I think this has to do with the absolutely superb voice acting and the superior writing. There are very few cheesy lines here and all characters are very 3-dimensional, like real people. Original: I found the characters extremely 2-dimensional and flat. They felt forced, more like caricatures than real people. Not to mention the voice acting was terrible ESPECIALLY for Bastila Shan. Well admittedly she's probably the best looking female character out of both games, but her voice acting was terrible ("You cannot win, Revan" at the start was groan-inducing ) There were just cheesy lines galore. Romance The Sith Lords: Do you ever think Obsidian MEANT for girls to hate Disciple and want Atton? It gives so much more depth to the story when you think of all the unresolved sexual tension between your character and Atton that is simply expressed in this one line in the entire game: "If you ever think you're alone, play pazaak in your head because when you do, you'll be playing pazaak with me." Just ONE line can have worlds of meaning. Slam me for being a fangirl, but I think it's Obsidian's way of creating believable romantic tension. I don't know about the male options though. I always played as LSF Guardian Original: Carth's voice acting and line scripting were so bad that when he said "I love you" on the Unknown World, I nearly laughed out loud. It wasn't written well enough not to look cheesy and forced. There was never any feeling of romantic tension building, and suddenly wham, he thinks he loves you? Ugh. This is not Mills and Boon... Anyway, I think Atton was better looking than Carth. Carth's animation looked like crap. Conclusion KotOR was revolutionary for its time, but TSL has taken it one notch higher in terms of sheer complexity and storytelling finesse. RPG games are all about the story, and while the original came up with a fantastic game engine, Obsidian has fine tuned it for a truly ambitious storytelling attempt where the original's story fell flat. Of course, this backfired in some ways e.g. the influence factor which over-complicated things and was not fine-tuned enough, as well as an ending that did not give a conclusive ending. Perhaps Obsidian merely wanted to add to the open-endedness and sense of mystery that pervaded the game? Who knows. There may be some questionability about TSL's quality with regards to the cut endings, but when seen from the perspective of how it improved over the original, it's a really brilliant game. I absolutely prefer the sequel. Now I'm all prepared to get slammed by the TSL-naysayers... ;P
  16. it's going to be very difficult if u dont have a lot of advanced medpacs/lifesupport packs. just whack him with master flurry and stock up on any stims you have.... beast trick/stasis/force wave don't work on him... save your force points for master speed, and when your health gets low, RUN! and this way you shld be able to outrun him fast enough to restore your health everytime it gets low. then turn around, whack him again, and run to heal. its kinda a slow process (something like run and gun) but it gets the job done... guns dont work well on this fella, its even slower than run-and-saber cos his health is so huge
  17. i had two ultima pearls at the end of the game. i got one from onderon and another at trayus academy, from one of the footlockers next to the final workbench. :D my luck was good.
  18. what exactly is he doing for the republic and why? i never understood the T3 transmission part, abt him hvg to report back etc etc. why is the republic interested in the jedi? u can use spoiler tags.
  19. I have a really dumb question about Onderon. I just wrapped up a game where I was playing as a Sith Lord but I still ended up supporting the Queen and sending Master Kavar to Dantooine, even though I wanted to support Vaklu. Did I miss something? I'm sure there was something you have to do or a certain dialogue option you have to choose to trigger the support of Vaklu, but I was watching closely and I missed it. Even after the confrontation in the Queen's throne room and you have the option to either kill Vaklu right there, or differ to the queen's judgement. And then I didn't have the option to kill Kavar while we were talking. Huh? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I had the same situation as you, except in reverse. I was playing lightside and accidentally killed the guard captain who was guarding the sky ramp. so from then on, the entire onderon quest was geared towards siding with vaklu, even though I arrived there as a lightsider and met kavar in the iziz cantina. When combat mode triggered in that scene and i had to fight vaklu's guards, he came running in and said that there was a mistake and that I had done things to support his side (that is, killing the guard captain). So even if u kill one guard captain, u'll automatically switch to vaklu's side, even if u tell the guys outside the sky ramp that you support queen talia. It was a bad mistake, i played all the way to killing queen talia before I realised there was no going back. so i had to replay onderon, korriban, the tomb on dxun before i could finally kill vaklu to achieve the proper lightside objective. so yes, all u have to do is kill one of the guard captains to get the darkside quest. my favourite planet was telos. the sidequests there were the most coherent, and you could travel using the monitor. I found the ones on nar shadaa didn't make much linking sense, as you couldn't see how they all related to each under, unlike on telos. I spent a lot of time there wandering around, which made it worse considering I didn't fix the airspeeder
  20. i actually have kotor 1 but i can't seem to install it, sadly. played TSL already and i'm itching to know more about all these old characters that were so integral to the game. wish i'd played number 1 first. in the conversations with atton that decide things like what kind of revan you played in number 1, i had utterly no idea what he was talking about. such a spoiler to know you're revan in number 1 too. ugh. UGGGGH.
  21. Going to begin on KOTOR 1 soon, by the way... :D I knowits weird playing 1 after 2... But I got 2 free and so I played that first. Any tips? ;p
  22. Whenever I use the stealth field generator or any other stealth belt and turn on stealth mode, I go into solo mode where my NPC characters don't follow me. There's a little notice that says "Press Back to turn off solo mode" but when I turn it off, my NPC characters STILL don't follow me... Nothing works! I can't add them back into my party cos they are already added into my party. I had to finish GOTO's yacht alone, leaving Kreia and Atton all over the place cos I couldn't get them to follow me again after I accidentally switched on stealth mode. How the hell do you fix this problem? It's freaking annoying and also very troublesome cos this means that I can't use stealth mode with my party or I'll ruin my game.. Especially when I switch it on by accident. Playing X-box, by the way.
  23. really agree. nothing beats navigating kotor 2 maps with a joystick. somehow the feeling totally beats navigating with a mouse... it really makes you feel like you're right there in onderon. not to mention, if u have a huge tv like i do.............. woot. (my family had to stop watching their silly cooking shows for awhile... haha!) xbox rules man. but i'm going to start playing kotor 1 pc version soon... borrowed it from my boyfriend. lets see how that goes.
