  1. You have an antivirus on a UNIX machine ?
  2. Ok now, do you also want to compliment the artist about this? And I've been told there are even more jarring examples to be found in the BB. Maybe you and Sensuki can agree to disagree on fireballs, but you have to admit there's still A LOT to be done with respect to VFX in this game. To the extent that I wonder whether most of the spells fx are still just placeholders (?). Cause they can't possibly be all final. It's obvious that GREAT care has been taken in the environment renderings, I can't believe for a second that the spells will be neglected to such extent. PS: I'm not saying that to be overly negative, I am actually quite confident that the devs will fix this in time.
  3. Attractive and modern. Yup!
  4. Five naked guys hunting a lion. Wait... I've seen that before!
  5. I also play the mac build. However I haven't played as much as I would have wanted to. My laptop (2.3 GHz i7, 16GB RAM, 1GB Radeon HD 6750M) turns into an unstable nuclear reactor after a few minutes into the game. Which tbh was kind of disappointing, especially since I had been playing games such as Guild Wars 2 or Diablo 3 without any problems. I was waiting to see if other mac users were experiencing performance problems and maybe wait for the next patch. or maybe I should rather invest in a cheap gaming PC (something like this). EDIT: wjbaird, I think I may have exactly the same computer as you (2011 15" MB pro 'hi-end'). Are you really not experiencing performance issues other than the occasional freeze?
  6. Why? People can play like they want to. Just because you can play a glass cannon doesn't mean it's the best build...
  7. Yep this is really good news !
  8. I thought the loading screens were fine TBH. Maybe a bit sharp yes. And I agree a loading bar would be welcome.
  9. To me the most glaring issue about combat is the completely OTT visual effects. I was in the inn today trying to pick a fight with everyone. Then this happened: I think it's supposed to be some kind of spider web. It's completely opaque and follows your characters around (and before you ask, no this is not my own sloppy MS paint job ) Not only is this completely unappealing visually (ahem, to say the least), it masks absolutely everything around it and makes it impossible to tell what's going on in combat. EDIT: Actually, looking at it this image, there are so many things that are wrong visually. For instance look at the two (or is it more?? I can't tell) enemies that are still inside the room on the left side : It's impossible to tell them apart from the decor, it looks like they're inside the walls or something. You can't really tell where the doorframe is All the textures around them are semi-transparent. Look at the wall with the square painting on it. The brick wall texture blends into the painting.
  10. Thank god, I thought it was just me being notoriously bad.
  11. Funny, the game was running smoothly for me... I wonder if it is a Yosemite bug (I'm still running Mavericks)? PS: Also, unrelated but are the fans in your laptop also running full speed when playing the game?
  12. It's a bit worrying that you guys have found so many navmesh issues given that we've only been given access to a fraction of the world maps...
  13. Actually my initial reaction was: "Is the wood beetle still moving? Actually I don't even see a wood beetle here". I guess these giant beetles are quite good at hiding behind the grass
  14. Yes it was one of the first things I noticed as well. One really has to wonder how glaring bugs such as this can slip through the cracks
  15. Finally had a chance to test the BB. Installed it on my old macbook (2011 hi-end 15" model). My computers' fans were going through the ROOF throughout, really not enjoyable. Didn't think PoE would tax my GPU so much. Going from plusses to minuses : I enjoyed the title music and the general atmosphere. Liked the many options at character creation (lots of **Missing strings** though). I had a very tough time choosing which is a good thing. I haven't 100% figured out combat yet so I'm not going to comment on that too much. Generally (and although I have recently been playing BG2:EE so you could argue that switching to a game like PoE should feel mostly natural) I found combat a bit unintuitive. Especially Combat UI is quite confusing. I was very disappointed by the graphics, which have still not been fixed. I wonder how such a glaring issue has not yet received more attention. The first NPCs you meet outside the village are literally transparent, I thought they were supposed to be ghosts or something. Same goes for the beetles at the crossing. Plus they continued to move even when dead (!?!). Pathfinding is a mess. Especially in crowded areas such as the Inn. I'm sure it'll get fixed though.
  16. Actually you might have to enable Steam.app in the Accessibility preferences (Preferences > Security and Privacy > Privacy tab > Accessibility) EDIT: actually you're right. FYI osx users, the game is located in : /Users/yourname/Library/Application Support/Steam/SteamApps/common/Pillars of Eternity - Public Beta.app
  17. Short answer: yes. As of next Backer Beta update actually (fingers crossed)
  18. Doesn't that cause them to get trapped far beneath the earth? A windowless basement would suffice.
  19. Thank you I was starting to feel marginalised.
  20. Look at what we've come to, debating over RAM requirements. Come on Obsidian, please release the next patch already
  21. Well it's a matter of visibility. If your suggestion has accompanying screenshots and videos, it makes your post more visible to everyone. And more views mean more replies on the threads, which in turn is likely to draw the attention of a dev more. It's a virtuous cycle.
  22. The reason it's taking so long is because they want to make the next patch compatible with macs :wishfulthinking:
  23. To OP, while non of your suggestions rank very high in my priority list, all of them would be nice additions indeed.
  24. Is that the video you're referring to? Have all the animations been removed then? EDIT: also, just watched this again Is it me or all the character models in that video look much sharper (less transparent/fuzzy) than in the current BB version?
  25. Yeah, just saw that. Thank god, cause another day of surviving on 'Lessons learned from Wasteland 2 release' and 'Quest staggering' would have been too hard !
