  1. My new NMS pet - TulipHead. It was simply spawning all over on one of my home bases now. I haven't explored much/seen any of the other new exotic fauna. On the 55" OLED TV, this is way too white-bright/blown out. The visual upgrades are mostly nice/good, but bright white noon sun/clear skies/water on some planets were ugh. Turning TV settings down a bit more (I already have such pretty low, since dark room) helped tho.
  2. No Man's Sky --Since I don't build giant bases, and I also build most of them hanging in mid-air, so far none of my chrs/larger bases were an issue. And I lucked out where most of my main "planets" didn't change too much, either. A little here and there, like foliage shapes or fauna, nothing big. --the new water is nice, although it's mostly a big difference on oceans/coasts. Overall cleaner graphic looks. Maybe sometimes almost too "clean." And some lighting is ... overblown re:whites/contrast. I do not have any HDR settings on. Still had to turn such settings down on the TV to not be blinded occasionally. --performance is about the same at native4k, did turn more things to High vs. Ultra to be 60fps/safe, don't notice a visual difference. But I think I'll go back to 7 Days for now. NMS supposedly will have a "Worlds version 2" update coming later - maybe that'd be a better time to jump back in.
  3. I guess I'm on a "are they still alive/how they doing" kick. Happily the answer here is yes (he's 68 now). I think I might actually like this live, slightly (I think, could be wrong) lower pitched version more than the original English/MTV version. Or maybe I just like a live version better. But what I've always wanted to know - is Major Tom dead? Does coming home = crashing/burning up in the atmosphere? That's what I always thought but ... shrug.
  4. --On the one hand: haven't played it in a long while, this is a massive world/everything generation update! Exploration might be fun/feel new again for a while! (new ships/space station designs in earlier updates I didn't care one whit about) --On the other hand: probably a 20% chance any old saves and their main bases are broken (misshaped, half deleted, underground, whatever) by planet generation changes under your feet. Your fave planet could be entirely different/a different biome all of a sudden, stuff like that. If hit by that, one has to deal with, or just write those saves off (which would include your ships, freighters, collections) and start anew. ---either performance fix patches will be incoming, or might need a 4080 to run it at 4k. Might give an idea how Light No Fire might run tho. ---And do I try to preserve my install of older version of game to play it totally Offline if I can't stand/run this new version? More work. Sigh. I'll think about it for the weekend. But it looks nice!
  5. Out of curiosity, do you get much satisfaction from that thing others call "achievement?" I mean, sometimes it does feel nice to finally get a thing off your to-do list crossed off, don't get me wrong, but I mean in a larger sense. A lot of my youth was spent chasing the notion because "everyone" told me that's what you're supposed to do/feel. My inner turmoil quieted quite a bit once I realized I didn't need "goals/achievements" to be content. I'm not geared that way is all. I would like to not feel stuck in emotional neutral all the time tho. I would also like to create more memories. After many years, one starts to realize sitting around the house doesn't make many memorable memories. And yeah, people tire me out too. But I don't mind if they're simply around - like at a park - I just don't want to interact beyond a nod as one walks by. Social interaction isn't the kind of memory I'm looking for.
  6. Probably about 50/50. There's a few things involved for me: ---lost interest/enthusiasm in things that entertained me for 45+ years (books, films/tv, games, parasocial net, music, camping, parks etc) ---a desire to find things that take me outside of the house for at least a few/several hours a week but don't involve other people, and exercise reasons ain't it (EDIT: that one is the easiest to attempt in a way, by visiting new places/shops/events around town etc) ---no desire for ever more physical/material piles of things, thus no interest in anything that would create such, or require tons of material prep just to do 2nd Edit: While this has been going on slowly for a while, I do still feel like it accelerated after the diabetic almost-coma. By that I mean, the feeling that nothing triggers much emotion/reaction, hence it's all neutral reactions. Sometimes the only strong reactions I seem to get much any more are visual cue ones, and by strong I just mean that I notice. Like a field of flowering cherry trees.
  7. The wanna be assassin apparently didn't spend enough time at the shooting range. There, I said it. More seriously, as much as I don't like Trump - or Biden at this point for that matter - no one would "deserve" that. I'm only surprised, with the state of things for a long while, that no one tried a bit sooner. And I don't think it's faked/set up. The next 10-20 years of US politics is going to be nuts. I keep wondering about civil war/internal terrorism potentials lately. Depressing.
  8. Relying on childhood memory watches again: (the first few seasons I probably saw in syndication, I was a bit too young for 1st run etc )
  9. ^ ok, thanks, sounds like it would update me to next-gen automatically then. What made people feel ripped off tho? Quick search makes it sound mostly like a graphical/performance/bug fixes (the latter being always in question re: Bethsoft) update with some added quests/outfits.
  10. I am slow brained - if I bought the release version of FO4 and that's it, but I'd have to reinstall the game because I already uninstalled it ages ago, what version of FO4 would I be playing? Is it like Death Stranding where there's a "new" version of the game and the original release store page is delisted, but if you bought that older version, it's still there/that's what you'd download, if you didn't pay/opt in for the update/new version? Edit: not that I'm sure I'm interested in this London mod either, but knowing my options are nice.
  11. ^ I don't even know what I'd do with a net speed that fast. I suppose in 10 years we'll need it to download games tho. >.> ========== Unrelated: my search for entertainment these days mostly has my face doing this. I don't know what to do, guys. I'm not depressed. It's just still that syndrome of being an introverted, non-social, recluse where I just find nothing interesting to my tastes (or tastes have changed?)/been there done that/too similar or predictable. The brain just doesn't light up and I don't care. You know how some experiences are just once and done, never care to repeat it in any form, even if you liked that singular experience? It's like my whole life is currently like that. I keep trying different things and it's just ... no. So I sits under the porch and watch the birds fly by. Maybe the ducks will show up in the pool today.
  12. Based on what I've read/seen people comment on, there are two main reasons for Gamepass: ---you would buy/play a lot of games per year vs. only a few/several at most, and generally don't care about replaying them (once and done) or that they might get yanked off the available list in a few/several months (thus the monthly would still end up cheaper) ---you want to be able to try any new games out for "cheap" to first decide if you care enough to fully buy it ---you're console only anyway and/or need the MP/online functions so must pay on some level anyway (?). Me, I never paid/signed up for the PS sub that gives you online access stuff. I don't need it, don't care. I still have zero interest in Gamepass, even with MS doing its best to acquire a lot of franchises. "Owning" a game may be ever more of a precarious illusion in these days of non-physical media, but I still like what illusion there is left.
  13. This seems more my current speed than Pacific Drive. It's by the same people who did Above Snakes. So I expect it to be nothing special but fun, fairly simple and relaxing.
  14. Me with 7 Days to Die: --*create several RWG maps* --*some hours/same evening later* - "This seems like a good map, and this base I made is awesome. I'm digging it. But I wonder" --*fiddles with .xml files* --*create several RWG maps* Repeat forever. I don't think I've played a save of 7 Days for more than 4-5 hours in years. ...wouldn't mind if Manor Lords had a big patch soon. But I think they're upgrading from UE4 to 5 (because Xbox won't take UE4 anymore, I hear), so it might be a while. >.>
  15. To be honest, after Another 48 Hours (which wasn't as good as the first, ofc), I think the only thing I've seen of E. Murphy's that I liked since then (besides "DONKEY!") was Tower Heist (2011). Coming to America2 was ok but eh. But yeah, from that perspective what I saw of BHC/AxelF was one of the better things from him in forever. Doolittle, Nutty Professor, Daddy Day Care etc - no thank you. I haven't seen Dolemite. After Daddy Day Care I stopped paying him any attention outside of "DONKEY!"
  16. ...at last, a city that might be big enough. ...unfortunately I don't like the way the RWG generator works anymore - well, for stupid mega cities anyway. It's still "ok" for normal maping. But even there they come out a lot more ... generic ... then in past versions. The illusion of the random is disappearing. Just simlar splat patterns and repeating/repetitious city tiles.
  17. Also: My parents/family had me liking this version: But the 80's had me also liking this version.
  18. I'm similar. To be fair, despite having a very musical parent who kept trying to get me to play instruments, I was never a huge music/bands is life sort. Outside of the brief age 13-16 stage. Parents got me into their generation stuff. Brother got me into the Beatles. Hubby got me into the 60's/70's rock. I think my interest in general popular hits or even searching for new music waned in direct proportion with how much my PC gaming interest peaked. eg, the mid1990's. Also, I stopped listening to radio because I stopped driving a zillion miles every year, so exposure dropped to almost zero. Hubby and I rarely listen to any music and I only listen to it while gaming or a nostalgia wave hits. ...these day's I mostly only know of music or big popular hits thru films/TV, games, or occasionally a random YouTube recommend or something. And even more rarely, a specific search because I suddenly get a hankering to hear some choir/orchestra or monks chanting or drum solos or ....
  19. Wait, he's part of the Ringo Starr and His All-Starr Band, in the past and now? Colin Hay still has that voice. The man playing the bass/back vocals was cheery-infectious to watch. Had to look him up, had no idea who he was. I still have no idea who he is, but his name is apparently Hamish Stuart.
  20. The new Beverly Hills Cop, too. Although only about half. I fell asleep. That first half tho - well, it was certainly trying to follow the formula, and in that I think it half-succeeded. Certainly brings nostalgia. But I wasn't loving it - may not finish it. I can still watch the old film today and love it, and to me that's better than seeing something that's new, yet not new. Just me tho. What I saw of AxelF seemed light, homage-filled and entertaining enough, for what it is/supposed to be - not saying I disliked it, I chuckled a few times that first half. I just don't really see the point. Series should have ended with the 2nd one, anyway. *grumpy old and is bored of everything, fart*
  21. ...when it's warm enough outside that your house A/C setting of 80F/26.5C feels like opening the freezer door (for the first few minutes you walk inside, at least). ...midnight last night: 85F/29.5C -- 5am this morning: 70F/21C -- Yesterday/Today-currently: 113F/45C Now, no mistake, we're in a normally warm area. So it's frequently 95F-102F/35C-39C in summer regardless. I'm kinda used to that by now. But ugh, could it just stay there and not ever go higher? No? Ah well. Definitely more a of nightowl in summer here than ever before. It's the only time it's "nice."
  22. 7 Days to Die - Alpha 22 .... er, I mean Release 1.0 ---fps is a fair bit worse (at 4k anyway), if I try to use all High/Ultra like before, but it's so smooth I didn't notice without a fps counter on. Mostly it's the shadows/object shadowing. I had those up High/Ultra before w/60+ fps still. I had to knock their quality to Low. But now there's hardly any difference visually between High/Low shadows. Only Off looks terrible. So, it's fine. ---Traders are now specific to specific biomes. "Trader Jen" is in burnt forest. "trader Rekt" is in forest biome, because of trader quest "progression". And by default the map generator will not create "big cities" in the Forest biome at all, also in the name of progression/forcing players to expand to other biomes. Which sucks donkey sweat if Forest biome is your favorite biome and don't give a hoot about "trader quests" anyway. Good thing I know how to open Notepad and alter .xml's. There, all fixed, big cities everywhere and multiple Traders in multiple biomes when I want. ---map generator is way way way faster. I can now make 10k+ sized maps in 90 or so seconds instead of take-a-nap amount of time. ---actual gameplay - well, it's 7 Days to Die. Some item/loot/quest mechanics have changed, and a whole lot of new POI's, but it's all largely the same. ---I'm still guffawing at the "1.0 release" for console naming, shenanigans. It's still an Alpha, stop pretending.
  23. *stares at the big banner selling Avowed sweatshirts and such* "Is Avowed out yet? .... ah, apparently nope." *returns to her sleepy/quiet life and lurking*
  24. It works, I like it better than the original, for some reason. More soothing, less sentimental. I haven't listened to John Denver in a long time. I wasn't a huge fan of his but my mom was. I remember him most from that "Oh God" movie (mom "dragged" me to it), actually, haha. I had one of his greatest hits type albums, liked about half of that. Probably my fave of JD's songs was actually this one
  25. Just to say, I also do not have 2FA enabled/used - outside of financial institutions I avoid the hassle of it. This is a game forum, I don't need/care/want. I also do not sign in with/do not have a Microsoft account. Or any other type of account so many sites may ask if you want to login with, these days. >.> Didn't have an issue logging in right now, but who knows.
