  1. I know, right? It's ridiculous/funny. With 13+ difficulties and greater rifts going past that, not surprising I suppose. ...at least you can turn the numbers off. I only run them when I get curious about numerical "progress."
  2. (video stills, extra fuzzy) Me: routinely/very frequently do 1-3billion crits Mages: routinely do 300-500million Skellies: routinely do 100-200million So far: That plus gaining another 50 or so Paragon levels = still not quite enough to beat GR70 in time-limit (req. to have chance of Primals to drop). Some of it's rng on the dungeon and enemy types that spawns but I keep missing by 30, 60 seconds...bah. Edit: at least I'm close. Maybe another 50 P-lvls...
  3. I believe that was kind of my point.
  4. For the longest time my favorite remained the reddish fugly half-formed golem thingie pet which came with the ultimate/necro edition. I just liked the way it was animated when it ran around picking up gold, it was too funny. The two cows and the floating skulls are the only others I've liked much. Haven't gotten the Bumble yet - probably missing 4 or 5 pets (on non-seasonal chr). lol - that's a pretty apt description of the current version of D3.
  5. Documentary: "Fyre" - Never heard of this guy or his island party fiasco. Might've seen the cheese sandwich picture but with no idea of what it was about/its origin. Anyway the doc. is train-wreck-fascinating and makes you scramble all over the 'net wanting to know more/look up all these people, so I guess it works. Kingdom: S. Korea's zombie series airing on Netflix now. I'm not big on zombie-genre in general but it's only 6 episodes so I took a gander. Mixes a lot of palace Royal politics and scheming (typical of period SK dramas) with zombie outbreak. Although the zombies in this case seem like a mixture of zombie and vampire, but whatever. The political stuff doesn't work (or meld) with the zombie stuff too well and it's fairly slow paced for 2-3 episodes (for zombie/horror fans who like action, I mean) but it's not too bad. The action/zombie sequences are well done visually and it doesn't shy away from violence at those times. The end was a bit ... well. Disappointing? Unexpected? Not great, not bad, but doesn't even come close Train to Busan.
  6. Got any recommends? After really liking Hakuoki, Cinderella Phenomenon and Lake of Voices almost everything else I've tried (I've only bought from Steam) has been ... not very good. Or too much like Hakuoki and thus been there/done that. I don't mind, for example, a VN being classed as an "otome" but it has to have more story/depth of chr. than just "pick choices just so you can get in bed with the hot trope guy (or gal) of choice." I did try looking at some other non-steam sites but it's hard to tell quality tales vs Harlequin romance from descriptions/covers so I gave up. Edit: I did buy Ken Follett's The Pillars of the Earth but haven't tried it yet.
  7. Inheritance is going to be a lot more than I was expecting. When it finally arrives/gets out of legal, most will go into savings etc. but contemplating splurging on something I wouldn't ordinarily splurge on. Just can't think of anything. I live a quiet life with quiet (mostly) inexpensive hobbies and ... Hm. Hubby is likely to talk about doing something like building a greenhouse all day long and never do it - maybe I'll just do it for him (eg, hire people). ...or maybe I'll build an attached fenced in cat-run/house for indoor kitties to play in the sunshine. I'd have to get more kitties tho. ...couple-hood peace is better off with the greenhouse vs. poking holes in house walls. I can grow my own jalapeno's, bok choy and romaine lettuces at least.
  8. Tried to start/read through early Psycho-Pass VN. Couldn't figure out how to get to any options/save menu for ages and by the time I finally did I lost all interest in reading. Then tried to play Torchlight2 again (never did finish the "story") but I've forgotten all the controls etc. so it's that syndrome of having a high level chr. but feeling like you have to start over. Nah. ...Divine Divinity 1 I never even came close to finishing, but it was a lot of fun as I recall, maybe I'll give that a go next...5 bucks says I won't get far in that endeavor either. I know I'm not as into gaming overall as some days past, but I still hate being "between" games.
  9. I didn't find the Han Solo actor to remind me of Harrison Ford in any way, not even in overt imitation sense. Outside of the costumes he just felt generic and without a lot of true charisma (I mean he was ok, like I said earlier, just nothing that stands out). Although perhaps that's because the actor's face kept distracting me by reminding me of someone else, and finally I placed it: Harry Hamlin - '81 Clash of the Titans. It's the jaw/cheekbones mostly I suppose. Edit: that said, it is a tall order indeed to fill the charismatic shoes of Harrison Ford as the iconic Han Solo, younger version or not. Edit Edit: or maybe it's because I didn't see the latter half and he becomes more imitation at that point
  10. I sometimes think about buying a newer (and better) laptop to replace the utter crap piece of plastic I bought last time, but when I look, anything remotely like what I'd want is $2000+ (and I don't want a laptop for gaming but what I want would still be in that range). And for me, more than $1200 for a laptop is like, no. Can't be any worse than plasma, and hubby's played countless hours of Borderlands on the one we still have. No perm. burn-in yet.
  11. Tried to watch Solo via Netflix, mostly to see what any "fuss" was about. I got about half-way through before walking off to do other things (hubby watched the rest). Not because I found it terrible, I just didn't care enough to continue. The guy playing Solo was all right, the jokes were all right (although predictable), some of the winkwink stuff to the original films (and Mr. Wookie bits) made me lightly chuckle, and the action was all right. But that was the problem. It's just "all right." There's no suspense (we know his future already) so there's little story motivation for me. Thus even tho I wasn't disliking it, half was all the time I felt like giving it. But I can some folk liking it as a by the numbers type of adventure film. Oh, there is one thing I didn't like - Woody Harrelson. I do love him as an actor most of the time, but for some reason I felt like he didn't fit into SW-verse. He sticks out too much or feels too real-world modern or something. Lesser known actor would've been better in this case perhaps.
  12. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't call it a good movie. I have a feeling some may get turned off with a "nothing is happening" feeling. It's a quiet movie. The trailer makes it look more ... active or thriller-y ... then it really is. But for some reason it kept me watching where a lot of flashier movies don't anymore.
  13. In this age of streaming video and when I watch everything at home, sometimes I have no idea which thread to post in - movie? TV? If it's 1.5+ hours long, I always think of it as a movie, but if it was basically made for a streaming service, is it really TV? Should there be a "streaming media" thread? (not really, just joking). Anyway, I saw the Netflix trailer for Io, a post-apocalyptic drama tale with no zombies or weird mega-viruses or space aliens where the focus is on two people. Trailer is the sort to make you guess that either the film will be "deliberately"-paced but still very interesting, or "ploddingly"-paced and really boring. Turns out it's a mixture of both. Decent ideas/acting turned mediocre to average (I won't mention the "science" aspects). I did finish it, however, probably because I ended up liking the actors/characters more than anything else.
  14. I'm sure it was "accidental". That's what I said to hubby those times I've locked him out by accident .... while we were both still at home (eg, I didn't realize he was outside/in the yard). I think he carries a housekey in his pocket at all times now.
  15. The problem I have with sets is that I feel forced to play a certain way, not my way. I almost never use/like the things they're designed around. Although the boosts Sets got this patch was nice. I've tried some on other chrs/classes as testers (not just in D3 but all rpg's really) and I definitely understand why people use them for high dps but I don't like being locked in. So that one 2-ring "set" is the only one I'll use. That set got me to Greater Rift 67 but even at Paragon-630+all Ancient gear I can't quite finish GR68 within the timed limit and I stopped trying since for me then it largely becomes only about Paragon leveling. One thing I don't like about the 2-ring set is I can't use Brigg's Wrath for the pull-in effect (since the Cube Power is taken up with double-mages cast), which is/was totally awesome and super efficient for use with curses and corpse explosion. Pull them all into a pinpoint clump, kill one with Bone Spikes, use CE and kabam, all dead. Now I have to deal with scattered enemies again. If I ever reach Paragon1000+ (ha.ha.) I may take the ring set off again.
  16. The new Season in Diablo3 started last night so I played that long enough to get the "free stuff" they do every Season. Because I'm like that (collector). No pet this time tho. Now I'm back to having no idea what to play (if anything) this weekend. There's this fine line I tread nowadays between wanting something that doesn't require tons of brainpower but more than the average arpg of today. I suppose I can try Wiz8 ... if I can manage to sneak down the road without being ambushed or something. Nice thing about old games? They take up hardly any disc space.
  17. Agree about Up. Glass is being mostly downplayed by critics, although I've read some more positive ones as well. Which is not to say one should make critics one's decision maker. Most aren't completely trashing it tho, if you read the whole review and not just headlines. I think it would be funny if 150 years from now M. Night is hailed as a film genius (even his later works) not recognized in this own time. It's been known to happen.
  18. I tried a rotating round head toothbrush (Braun) for the first time. I suppose it cleaned my teeth well enough, but I'm worried it rattled my brain around the skull too much and might give me concussive symptoms. ...ok not really, but holy batman the thing is like brushing your teeth with an industrial-strength vibrating massage unit. It'll either clean your teeth or rattle them loose, take your pick. Maybe I'll get used to it.
  19. I remember buying that ages ago, mostly because screenshots and descriptions reminded me a tad of Might and Magic's. I recall emerging from some tutorial area, walking forward into some forest for a bit and being trounced by some mobster mobs. Then for some reason I never went back to it. I meant to, but...hm. Another disc I should pull out.
  20. I love Benedict Cumberbatch and I still largely snoozed through Dr. Strange. I mean it was fitfully amusing here and there but... I'm not tired of superheroes. I'm tired of "Marvelverse." Haven't seen most of the more recent ones, gave infinity War a chance, meh. I'm also tired of all-CGI-fest and almost no dialogue (outside of one-liners and a couple dramatic short "speeches" or whatever). They're starting to remind me of Transformers in the sense all sound and fury and not much else. And no, purple-face going on about for some seconds with a sad-face doesn't make me think he's deep. ID4 probably had more actual dialogue and that's saying something. I was watching some of those low-budget, disaster mini-series/movies with a couple semi-famous ppl in them, from the early 2000's (back when SyFy and others made a ton of those) and as bad as some of them are, I actually found a few of them more interesting than most current big-budget actions of today because ... dialogue. Then again, I'm just a grouse these days so.
  21. I don't have a lot of RL stuff to do(just a boring job from 8 to 16 o clock) but even I lack the motivation to play games like I did some 10 years ago when I was 25. Part of it also has to do with the fact that I have played and finished about 300+ games on various platforms and after such a long time, you do get the feeling of 'I have seen/played this before'. Still, there are games that I am curious about, I am just not sure if I will ever get to play them. This is so me. Indie, big budget, doesn't matter. I think in my case - especially since I have a pretty obsessive nature - my desire to commit to devoting a long period (even tho I have time) to master new rules/mechanics or make constant micro-decisions (that item, this item? this perk, that perk?), has dwindled, and the "seen that, been there" doesn't help. Even if it's a game I'd like to check out/play, more and more I'm likely to instead just go back to an already familiar game (or a very simplistic/short game) where I won't care if I wake up the next morning/next week suddenly not wanting to game at all for weeks or months (meaning if I returned to the game then, I'd likely feel like I have to start all over....).
  22. I'm tired of buying compressed air cans (for initial further-distance bursts) and then squeezing rubber air-bulbs until my hands ache (for closeup/detailed air dusting). Time to try one of these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00VAYIWSM/ ...it's cheap enough. If its air movement capability sucks, no big loss. Edit: oh, and you know how most people on gaming forums have "game backlogs?" I've never had one of those. But these days I do have "streaming video" backlogs. I must have 100+ things in my Netflix watchlist, 60 in Amazon's, more on other sites. Why do I keep adding when I know I'll never bother watching them...at least it costs me zero to add to them.
  23. A long time ago I tried watching How to Train Your Dragon: Riders of Berk, a TV series. I couldn't get into it at all - to me didn't feel much like the films - altho I probably only watched 3 or 4 episodes so it may have become better later. Apparently after CartoonNetwork gave up broadcasting it (2 seasons/40 total episodes, kids are 15ish), Netflix took it over (6 seasons/13 each/complete, kids are 18ish) and it was renamed Race to the Edge. So I decided to give it a go again, but starting from season 3. It's much better (imo), feeling more like the films except it focuses on the kids and their Dragon Rider organization set against those that would hunt/profit/kill dragons (it's set before the 2nd movie). There's a central baddie, Hiccup's dad and a few other adults show up now and then, etc. Animation is good. Less attention to background details but the chrs. and dragons are animated quite well. Marathoned season 3 and 4. The rather otp comedy sequences (those twins...) goes on a little too long at times perhaps but it's punctuated with moments of more serious themes like the films do. I occasionally ffwd in 10 second increments but not too much. Thumbs up overall. And ... there's plenty of Hiccup/Toothless moments.
  24. My mom liked to sew. So I grew up learning all that stuff, dragged to sewing shops, buying patterns, all of that. Sewed my own costumes for Halloween a few years, knew all these little "tricks," would do my own pants hemming, made cat sleeping pillows, the like. I've never owned my own sewing machine however (I mostly hand-sewed things after I moved out of parents) and my life has had little need for sewing so I haven't bothered to maintain. But I can still sew a button, correct poor seams from cheap clothing and mend tears better than my husband.
  25. Is your old rig actually about to break or do you just feel like you want a new one now? There's always a reason to wait on hardware etc. to the point where if you keep waiting, you may find you never buy, haha. Take it from someone who's been considering building a new rig for maybe 4 years and still hasn't done it. I definitely know the feeling of being out of the loop (not to mention "too old for this ****" and no idea what direction to turn. The last time I/hubby priced out a new rig (Win10 one, intended for more 4k gaming but not in a super-picky way) a few months ago I was in the realm of $3000 and that didn't include new monitors. I was going for the intel 9600 I think it was, and an RTX 2080ti, w/32 RAM, 1TB SSD and a couple internal storage HDD's, a case, etc. I'm very (probably irrationally, but there it is) stuck on intel and nvidia tho. By the time I think about it again in 3-6 months, there'll probably be a new cpu or something. Pfffft.
