  1. Last Bioware game I remember playing was BG2. I bought Neverwinter but at the time the game crashed a lot on my rig and I never got around to going back to it. I think I bought Mass E. 1 quite a long time after it was already a hit, but never installed it. Yes I'm terrible. Anthem seems like another game where an attempt is made to mash different gameplay styles/trends together hoping to attract a wider audience, but the mashing doesn't work well and the gameplay is mediocore, hence its attraction ends up being even less than if they had stuck to one focus. Maybe Bioware will be ok, maybe not, maybe EA will let them try again, maybe not. Either way it won't change the way the big-money *industry* does business overall, imo. Not when it's so much based on shareholders and unrealistic ballooning of annual/quarterly profit expectations because every "AAA" publisher wants to be the next Fortnite or whatever the current giant-win title is.
  2. Now I'm watching some Korean youngin' play Dragon Quest Builders *2* - I can occasionally understand some words he says but I can't read any of the game stuff, lol - it looks so much improved, I want it. But apparently the US has to wait until summer or something. Sigh.
  3. So am I. We didn't/don't bundle because our 'net is separated via Comcast Business. Bundled packages don't give hubby the 'net features/abilities he requires to do work from home. So our comcastTV was separate/no bundle. Comcast Business is becoming expensive for what we're getting, now, too, so at some point we're likely to switch to ATT/fiber. Just have to get around to it. We're procrastinators. As to news - yeah, youtube or I just check headlines/articles on the internet from local network or cnn or whatever websites. I don't need talking-heads.
  4. Ok so this is the list I/hubby have come up with. Anything "wrong" with it? ======================================= CPU: i9-9900k 8 core CPU Cooler: Hydro Series H100i PRO GPU: EVGA 2080ti (haven't picked specific evga version yet) RAM: 2x16(32), Corsair Vengeance LBX MB: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Master LGA 1151 (300 series) SSD: Samsung 970 Pro 1TB HDD: 4TB (maybe two...) Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 750D Airflow (edit - only maybe 20lbs. ) PSU: Corsair RmX850 Series
  5. Redacted, wrong thread, sorry
  6. Watched some streamers play Anthem today. Some of the graphics are fantastic and the chr. face animations are actually a fair bit above what I usually see in games, but overall gameplay looked ... boring. Not bad, exactly, just boring. And there's an early quest where there were a lot of ... energy circles? high in the air that the player kept flying into/through (reason I don't know, wasn't paying close attention), which for some reason called to mind Superman64 and those green rings. I'm not saying it looked or played anything like Sup64, mind, just ... well, I laughed. Also watched someone playing the Resident Evil HD remaster, which was much more engaging. DQ:Builders freeplay continues to be very fun in that casual fashion. I keep getting new town npc's tho, I wasn't expecting that in freeplay. Haven't taken them into combat yet but they make good foundy and kitchen slaves. Get to work and make me more mushrooms on a stick, stone windows and bathtubs!
  7. Getting married in a park with jeans or casual clothing, 10 min. ceremony, and a BBQ and frisbees all for maybe $300-400 (I forget, renting the park for the afternoon was the highest cost), ftw. Oh, and $6 silver rings bought at a jewelry fair. Some people really like all that huge fancy stuff tho. Whatever works for you as they say.
  8. We have Netflix, Amazon-Prime (rarely used, altho we rent movies from Amazon occasionally), Hulu+ (I hate ads) are the main ones. I have personal-interest subs to Crunchyroll (anime) and Viki (Korean/Asian drama), so about $55ish/month maybe? Our Comcast cableTV "HD" package with HBO/Showtime/Starz was around $170-$180 a month without renting a single movie. On top of having the streaming stuff. Once I lost interest in 1st run Supernatural and Walking Dead (and pay-station originals don't interest me either) I pretty much had no reason to keep cableTV out side of watching HGTV while eating lunch. It took another couple years before hubby came to the same conclusion. We don't care about/aren't going to sub to every network streaming thingie tho. What we have is enough - we don't watch all that much TV most of the time anyway. Occasional binges.
  9. @IndiraLightfoot - half formed golem still my favorite. The tiny calf-cow runs just fine on my ps4 version. I mean it looks a little funny because its 4 legs move at comical keystone kop speed but it looks/feels smooth. I wonder if that's a 30ish fps vs. pc-higher fps thing.
  10. lol at the "heavy" sticker. Now I want to know how much it weighs.
  11. 4k is the main reason I want to upgrade. I like 4k.
  12. Nooo! ...not as affecting to me as Davy Jones, but still. My TV-watching childhood. *sniffle*
  13. (referring to some of the last postings) ...I remember trying to watch Creep a month or two ago or something. I got about 15 minutes and then FFwd to the end. And I don't remember the end. ...Ethan Hawke in a Western? I'll rent it just for that alone. Although as usual the trailer makes me feel like I've seen the movie. Maybe I'll forget about that by the time I see it. ...Frozen 2 trailer - I'm going to assume ice-woman is stuck on an island (or just thinks she has to leave and has no boat) and that's her method of trying to escape it. And yes, it's a weird trailer. ...The Wandering Earth is one I'm looking forward to coming to Netflix so I can watch it.
  14. I guess my main concern is do you have to replace liquid coolers more often than physical heatsink ones - do they have more parts that wear out due to heat or age. I'm rather a set it and forget it for years and years person. I *am* going for a larger case this time - current rig is a tower but not quite that ultimate full size type. Eh. We'll see. I suppose I could try liquid and if I don't like it replace it later.
  15. The one with the biggest after-market (bought separately) cooler on it. If a cpu comes with a factory cooler included it's typically not very good - I mean it'll work but it's not meant for high-stress cooling. Some cpu's don't even come with a minimal factory cooler and are just the cpu, now. ....lol. You can get smaller/shorter ones that work better than factory-included ones might, for basic, non-overclocked cooling. Those may keep a cpu 5-10C cooler than factory. Or go liquid cooling instead (which I barely know anything about technically).
  16. DQ:Builders, finished chapt 1 and got into freeplay. The map is huge and I like how they separated things - no monsters on your main building island but teleport to other islands that have enemies (since you need them to drop crafting stuff) and other resources. There's also chests and secrets scattered around for other bonuses. But I did look at Chapt. 2 - the quest/story mode is very simplistic but they do design the islands pretty well so that makes them interesting to wander around/build in. Camera still sucks tho. I have no idea how one is supposed to finish them in 20 game days or less, for the speedplay challenge. Even if my chr. never sleeps, I can't picture less than 50-60 days. I'm just too slow.
  17. Oh, that's a nice link, thank you. I know what processor and GPU I want but sometimes all the other stuff is "I have no idea." I'm going to try to slowly order parts to have something built by the end of March (famous last words but..). I'd fall in the mostly-overkill category I guess. Worst part for me is it may be the first time I buy most things online, it's just the way it is now. Hate it (I like being able to return/exchange things the same day if need be etc) but, sigh. Anyway, I'm wondering, "everyone" always recommends what appears to be liquid cooling units for the i9-9900k. Does it really need that, if one isn't going to overclock? I know they don't come with any cooling thingie when you buy it, it's just the chip ... but would one of the popular non-liquid coolers still be fine or does it really run that hot? Still not sure I want to deal with liquid cooling, since I've never used it before/have no clue. I dunno. :/ Edit: talking to hubby he thinks I should go for the liquid cooling this time I guess....
  18. First two episodes of The Umbrella Academy: the show does a good job of hooking you in fairly quick. Nice sense of dark humor. I like Ellen Page, nice to see her. The kid/young teen actor playing #5 is killing it, imo - I love his snark. As usual I know nothing about the source material but the music, mood, and scene set-ups are fun. Definitely will continue watching. Also, not plot but mood-scene spoilery:
  19. Too much spam on a couple of the email addy's that I use for net access and after a year it's not dying down much. Deleted one I never use/have no record of using for anything important. Created a new email addy to replace one which is not used too often (only maybe 6 or 7 important things). But the other one is the main online use one for several years and the idea of figuring out/logging into and changing it for dozens of sites/services will be a big PITA. Pfft, I want to game now, let's see how much less spam there is from the initial action, first .... procrastination-rationalization.
  20. Well, after another few/several hours (some of that was me just farting around) playing DQ:Builders this weekend, I've reached Chapt 1: Part4. Looking at the cheatsheet, seems I have a few quests then 3 rounds of combat/castle defense and a final boss fight. I might get to finally freeplay this evening if I push myself to finish. Maybe.
  21. The guy in the hat was my favorite bandmember. Why? The hats of course. Edit: oh yeah...the days of constant lip syncing, even at the AMA's. lulz.
  22. Spent most of the last couple days zoning out rewatching/skimming through fave Korean tragi-weeper-dramas and eating takeout. And if not doing that, pacing around the house like a caged tiger. In one of those moods. edit: apparently 2019 is a year for many of my fave korean actors to exit their military duty, so perhaps in another year or so some will have a new show. Yay.
  23. I had no idea they were making a live-action Aladdin. *looks up trailer* Bwahaha, that trailer is so bad. Well, it could still be ok/decent in the full film, who knows. But that trailer. Bwahaha. They should have just gone with all animation/different looking genie and just Smith's voice or something.
  24. ROFL at that Nimoy video. I know it's being applied to the Discovery series but in a way it could also apply to film/TV entertainment in general (action/violence over anything else). I miss Leonard.
  25. I'm at 10 hours now and I think I'm only halfway through the 1st chapt. Dangit. The thing is current quest says "go over here" and I'm blocked by this giant mountain cliff. So I keep banging away through it hoping to make an upward tunnel path to it or something but keep getting blocked at every turn and backtracking. Taking forever. When you're in a tunnel the view camera is also absolutely horrid, can't see jack. If there's some fancy easy shortcut I have no clue. Guess I'll try just dirt-block placing/jumping my way up the outside of the cliff instead. What a waste of time. lol Reading more, sounds like the freeplay maps are unlocked by chapts as well. So you get 1 or so or whatever per chapt you complete? Dunno? At this rate I may as well go back to 7 Days to Die as a free-builder.
