  1. It was at least better than the rocks in ST:OS. Where Nimoy valiantly makes the effort to try and appear to be pinned down. https://youtu.be/PyN_6BeJ8KA?t=186
  2. Looper was pretty good. I don't think I was quite as enamored of it as some, but it's not like Star Trek save the whales type time travel or anything. I watched The Great Battle yesterday. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6931414/ Do not expect historical accuracy or intelligence, this is primarily an action movie with several long battle sequences. Actual dialogue is very limited/brief, with "story" moments that feel more like a few seconds of character snapshots here and there, so if you dislike reading subtitles, there aren't that many to read. Seriously. It also injects a bit of light humor here and there. If you like sword, spear, arrows, storming-the-castle and violent action, this is pretty decent for that. Kind of like a cross between Braveheart and the big combats in LotR in that sense. Occasionally the CGI help sticks out but considering it was made for I think 20 million, it's fun. Could have been 15 minutes shorter however.
  3. So I accidentally discovered something. And it's repeatable. I might've woken up hubby with my laughing. Hey Ignis, you might need to make more. ....this has so much potential. Although my fps did drop to about 30ish. I might have to drop the game to 1080 to make more than a few hundred...
  4. You know, I sort of like the actress playing Rey. She has a great stoic/determined expression. But that alone doesn't make a movie and yeah, that trailer is a snooze. I don't even find it bad-it's-funny, just uninspiring and static. Is it wrong that I'd sorta like to see Rey and Kylo Ren get together, discover there's a middle-ground to be had, make lots of little Grey-Side babies and rule the universe? *runs away*
  5. The Silence - outside of Stanley, not worth watching. That is all.
  6. Trying to watch The Silence - which is the new Quiet Place/Bird Box like movie from Netflix. Only reason I clicked it was because, Stanley Tucci. Not really expecting much from film itself. I'm only 15 minutes in and I had to log in here to say - if you're sensitive to anykind of tinnitus-type whine noise, don't watch this movie. Main chr. teenage girl is deaf and often they do her PoV with a loud tinnitus like sound. MOST ANNOYING thing ever. Movies that do that once or twice I can deal with it but...many times... I'm hoping as the show goes on they'll stop doing it but even at low volume, GARGH my ears.
  7. Islanders. $5, why not. It's simplistic and more along the line of a puzzle scoring game than a city builder, but it's quaint, relaxing, and fine to play while eating lunch or waiting for videos to render. eg, it's a nice distraction. Also, I liked their honesty and humor in the store page/video (not trying to pump it up to be more than it is). https://store.steampowered.com/app/1046030/ISLANDERS/
  8. I'm more in the mood for "cute."
  9. I like having hair that can tuck behind my ears. Motion habit from youth. I keep the sides fairly short these days but I still do that motion with what little hair can tuck (even tho it mostly just falls right back again).
  10. ^ And that there is one reason I was interested in that game. It's so beautiful. The combat tho, I just can't.
  11. Well, I like to edit things I quote a lot of the time to save space. And about 3/4 of the time if I highlight something within a quote in the editor and press delete, the quote coding freaks out and disappears. Thus I have to hit the BBCode button up there and do quote editing that way, then go back the wysiwig editor to finish (sometimes, not always necessary). Also, whenever I embed large images, hitting Enter afterwords deletes the image I just embedded instead of creating a new paragraph/spacing underneath it, so again I have to hit the BBCode button, hit Enter a few times, go back to wysiwig to embed another image link, repeat. It's annoying. Maybe it's just me but it's been like that for ages and through many many versions of Firefox. I don't remember when it was, but they did some forum change/updating long ago that initially really fubared quotes IIRC ... it's gotten better since then but it's still sorta broken imo. I suppose I could always use the code editor and never the wysiwig, but its weird formatting is a little hard to read/work with when creating a post.
  12. As long as the reply editor and quote functions don't get any worse I'll be fine with any other small changes. I think.
  13. I don't care too much about having such a weapon in a game (not that it wouldn't be weirdly cool), but I had to drop in and say thanks a lot for posting a video link that ended up with me wasting spending all evening watching that guy's videos.
  14. Agree. If I'm going to play an MMO where that's just the game genre, that's one thing. If it's supposed to be a single-player game, always-online is a no-buy. I shouldn't have to be always-online for SP, which maybe I want to play on a laptop or when the internet has gone out or whatever else. And if the always-online is simply because they want to make sure you can always buy their microtransactions or get "important announcements" (for a SP game...), pffft. If I want to buy mcrot's I'll go online when and if I'm ready to spend.
  15. Day After Tomorrow has arrived?
  16. Speaking of anime, I noticed they decided to make an updated version of Fruits Basket (an anime I have a physical copy of). Different voice actors, updated animation (the original was in 4:3). I watched the first episode ... I think I like the original better (the animation feels a bit "warmer" to me) but they did a good job on this remake, voices (Japanese ones) are all fine etc. I don't really see the need for it, but it's still a charming show so why not I guess?
  17. ^ I don't even like thinking about our (self-employment) taxes anymore. The check we write keeps getting bigger and bigger, although we have reached the max for certain increase potentials so we expect it to slow down. At least we don't have any inheritance tax, that's mine, all mine. Take that IRS/SS. Also: when you know it's a SSD but your mouse finger still starts to twitch and itch when you see this, because, decades of HDD "training":
  18. I'm so "bored" I almost feel like creating a new domain/website for uploading videos, partly because I'm sick of Youtube (in terms of uploading, vs. just watching). Which might be cool until some company sues me for copyright infringement for using 20 seconds of some song in a 5 minute video. ...maybe I'll get some music mixer software.
  19. Not a game, but I bought it via Steam so - Wallpaper Engine. It's interesting to be able to turn brief game video clips into actual animated desktop wallpapers, but not sure I love the program itself. Wondering if there's anything better than Wallpaper Engine for creating/using such. I don't need Steam/workshop attachment, in other words. I just want to make my own.
  20. I still haven't seen Cowboy Bebop. "Everyone" says I should since I loved Samurai Champloo but the 1st episode doesn't click with me and I've never forced myself to go farther to try to get it to grow on me, yet.
  21. "...running on a mainstream PC with only a single 1080ti." https://store.steampowered.com/hwsurvey/videocard/ (Joe Garth starts talking around 2minute mark)
  22. I have a lot of free time. I have a new PC. I have money. What I don't have is a lot of developers/publishers who create games I care to play. (...also lacking brain-motivation to learn a new hobby) I did run across a Jeff Goldblum shower curtain however. Which is hilarious and creepy at the same time. Especially with the description "Soft and Comfortable Handing Feeling." https://www.amazon.com/TalentHover-Goldblum-Curtain-Waterproof-Curtains/dp/B07Q5CW19T/
  23. Ultraman - finished it. My overall take on this new series is that it should have been called "UltraBoy." It's basically an origin story for Son of Ultraman. Where the boy spends most of the series being a rather angsty teenager (the 'needs to grow up' tropes), which is rather annoying. The first subplot re: some teen girl pop singer in danger might work for teens and I'd guess it's a humanizing (vs. violence of superheros) device but doesn't work for me. At times it feels like a strange cross between Ironman and Men In Black (not humorously). That said, there are elements that did work, like the Moroboshi chr., the one-eye alien (I find myself curious if he has any hidden long term agendas), a couple other chrs. Once you get past Episode 8 or so, there's a new subplot that works a lot better with new chrs introduced and makes you see possibilities for a season 2. P.S. I watched in Japanese/subbed.
  24. Heard about a new Ultraman animated series on Netflix. First episode I was all "what? who? this doesn't feel like Ultraman" - not that I know much about Ultraman beyond the 1960's, poorly dubbed, men-in-rubber-suits live action version the US played way back when. By the end of the 2nd episode with all the intro stuff out of the way, I was kind of liking it as its own thing. We'll see. Still doesn't beat people in rubber suits, however. Now that's entertainment.
  25. BL3 - well at least it seems like LAN is included. Don't care about these types of micro transactions since one can just not buy, like I don't have to buy orbs/anything else in DMC5 just to play/finish it. I read that the Steam version of BL1 removed LAN (disc version had it) which sucks. But in that case you used to be able to run more than one instance of the game on the same PC (I did that to self-mule all the time) and I suppose they were too lazy to make it not work that way and removed it entirely for Steam.
