The last three books I've read were: Regeneration by Pat Barker Porno by Irvine Welsh (it's not what it sounds like...honest) The End of the Affair by Graham Greene I'll stop here since this thread is rapidly escaping from the topic. In fact, someone should probably just delete the last four posts and lock it now.

LOL Sorry about that. I'm not usually so anal or childish But hey, you started it

Yes, and by the same rationale, Survivor's Quest is proof that Zahn has no business writing anything in the Star Wars world any more either. Ah, well, que sera sera. As Nur said, it's all a matter of opinion, IMO: The bulk of Anderson's SW work (especially TOTJ) > The bulk of Zahn's SW work.

Okay, the Suncrusher was an incredibly bad idea, but Anderson's characterization and exploration of the history of the SW universe is second-to-none. So much so that Anderson's background (both here and in TOTJ) becomes the "official" background according to Lucas. Indeed, I read somewhere that Lucas even based Darth Maul on Exar Kun. EDIT: I think you forgot an 'of' somewhere in there. Mentioning someone's stupidity and using bad grammar while you do it kind of undermines your point, don't you think? I expected more from someone who has a Frank Blake lyric as their sig

The only EU is really enjoyed was the stuff by Anderson, the first Zahn trilogy The Unifying Force and Shadows of the Empire (though Lucas has even said he considers it canon) That being said, a well-done Knights of the New Republic that ignores the Hambly, McDowell and co crap could give me a modicum of faith back in the EU. However, I DON'T want to see Knights of the Rebellion, or some such game that tries to weave an original story through the movies. They're trying that with the upcoming LOTR RPG, and frankly it strikes me as a BAD idea.

Unless he's not the main bad guy. Encountering him so early in the game makes me think that he's going to be the "Darth Vader" figure in the game. I wonder who the "Emperor" figure is?

Did you watch Developer Interview 3 clip?
sickboycp replied to funcroc's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Good find. It complements MCA's designer diary nicely. -
Yeah, I'm looking forward to these novelizations more than any other. But going back to the topic...I'd like KOTOR 3 to be Knights of the NEW Republic, set after the Battle of Endor. In fact, I seem to recall Feargus mentioning he threw the idea out to Lucasarts but they weren't biting. Still, I can only hope B)

Speaking of Drew Karpyshyn, he was one of the writers behind the original KOTOR, so we should get a few references to Revan & co in the books when they appear.

Bastila Shan vs Anakin Skywalker
sickboycp replied to KOTORFanactic's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
This is sort of off-topic, but tangentially related I guess. Does anyone more "in the know" about EU know where any information about the lightsaber styles can be found? How many of these were in practice during the TOTJ-KOTOR era? Thanks. -
Anyone else notice these

I think the oft-requested severed limb has just made its first appearance in the Knights of the Old Republic series. -
October XBN.. if avoiding spoilers avoid this
sickboycp replied to Stargate: 2000's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
They mention in the article that something involving HK-47 has a "megaton bomb" like effect on the game. The reviewer also compares it to the Revan revelation -
Okay, so it's not a rip-off. But it is NOT original. It owes a lot to all the Indy posters. IIRC, you claimed that the Emperor's Tomb was much more original. It's not. K2 is going for the same thing. And I think the artist did I damn fine job a lot better than I could do. I wouldn't go so far to call the artist hopeless.

sickboycp replied to Stargate: 2000's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I think it's smart. Obsidian is trying to make their own game. What better way than to have a shocking fate for one of the main NPCs of the first game (and probably the most well-known by the casual fan) It allows Obsidian to say "This is our game and not Bioware's) and it sets the stage for some uneasiness regarding the fate of other NPCs from the first game. We'd be wondering: Are they gonna kill Bastila? Or Canderous? Or Carth? (Please?) Makes for some compelling storytelling, IMO. -
A little vague. Can you be more specific? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On Kashyyk, if you help the Wookies overthrow the Czerka Corporation on the planet, later if you go to Korriban or Tattooine, one of the Czerka Reps will mention how horrible it was that they lost Kashyyk and how they heard the "barbaric" Wookies slaughtered all the Czerka on the planet.

Of course, XBN only played the first area of the game. There might be more hints and conversations as the game goes on and on, so the picture will be complete by the time you find Revan. -
Just kind of curious as to what ya'll are listening to right now. For me it would be: Pulp-This is Hardcore Har Mar Superstar- The Handler Ash- Meltdown The Postal Service- Give Up The Lost Highway Sdtk. I try to keep my selection ecletic, so there's a little something for everyone.

How so? I thought the Indiana Jones cover was basically a rip-off of the Jones trilogy...which is exactly what the box art for K2 is doing for the SW movies.

A few semesters ago, Holly Valance, a famous Aussie pop star appeared at my university. I was part of the team that 'welcomed' her to the university-that is, act as her personal gopher. I normally wouldn't demean myself being a celebrity's biayytch, but hey!-that year she was voted the hottest Australian woman. I couldn't resist :D Either that or I got threatened by Henry Rollins at a Rollins Band concert. Believe me, that was a scary moment. That guy is jacked!

Yeah...as much as it pains me to say it....it's going to be the Cards and the Yankees in the Series. Probably the only time in my life that that I'll be pulling for Tony LaRussa. The American League is a b@stard league...and the Yankees are the worst of the lot.

Most final regular season series go down this weekend. Are we going to get some playoff talk going on? I'm still sitting on the edge of my seat hoping my Astros don't blow it against the Rockies over the few days. I know we'll get spanked in the playoffs 'cos Clemens and Oswalt can't pitch every game, but it would be nice to get there again...especially after all the $$ we've spent.

IMO, there was only one moment where Bio got the DS absolutely, dead-on, right. When Bastila does the holocommunication with Admiral Dodonna and she is about to make the order to withdraw. Bastila looks to Revan who smirks and shakes his head very slightly. That was a definite "yes!" moment for me, where Revan's evil really seemed to be present. Almost everywhere else in the game....meh. <_<

It also could be that the Lucasarts Marketing guys liked the design of MSG and decided to use him/her as the "grabber" to lure gamers in. Not that anyone on this board would need lured in, of course...
-
I'd like someone more....contemplative about the Dark Side. Maybe like the Sith Master on Korriban on KoToR. I thought he was really well-drawn. Probably one of the best characters IMO that Bio has designed.

If Lucasarts stays true to form, we will get one "name" usually some washed-up ex TV actor who needs a few quick bucks. KOTOR 1 had Ed Asner, so I bet we're going to go back to the old Mary Tyler Moore archives and bring D!ck "Diagnosis Murder" Van Dyke into the world of Star Wars. Hopefully, he'll come complete with the pityful c0ckney accent he did in "Mary Poppins" D!ck van Dyke...you heard it here first. EDIT: I 'ad some trouble with the bloomin' language filter, guvnor. (/end bad British accent)
