  1. What's missing? More like - why is there such a concentrated enemy force constantly rammed up the player's ass? The game would've been no telling how much better if the ratio of anomalies to human foes was slanted in the other direction.
  2. Proof that this game is borderline garbage.
  3. The lack of diversity in JE's combat system is offset by the number of styles you can choose from, or so they thought. Someone else nailed it earlier with the paper, rock, scissors analogy. The thing that bothered me most though is the whole locking on to a target and pretty much being forced to attack in straight lines which reduces you to jumping over your enemy and attacking from behind and performing the same 2 moves over and over. I'm sick of this half assed, real-time/rpg/action hybrid gaming trying to appease to fans of every genre. The combat could've been cool but at the end of the day it's just a whole heaping of blandness. I don't know why it's so hard to implement a great combat system into these type games. Why not hire someone whose past involves nothing but fighting/action oriented games to have control over that aspect of the game?
  4. This is the "version" I've been waiting for all along. I'm definetly on board, though it seems too good to be true.
  5. Could someone be kind enough to give me a little rundown of the combat? I'm too lazy to read through the reviews.
  6. ^^ Yeah, pretty much. I would have liked it if some of the doors were open at all times instead of them becoming so as the story sees fit. It is like "free roam with a hitch". You can walk around and explore some stuff, find collectibles, take some side missions etc, but the bulk of the game is following through the story, which luckily is still good fun.
  7. Snapshots of the Darkness to give a glimpse of the general area, no spoilers.
  8. Agreed. The true to life environment is part of what I loved about the game. That part was awful.
  9. Yep. I rented Riddick, beat it in 3 days then got the PC version that came out some months later. Fun game. I'll keep you posted if I see anything regarding a PC release.
  10. I haven't read anything on it yet. I hope so though. I would get it again for PC. I like the more intimate experience that comes with playing on the PC.
  11. It's one of those games that you could beat in one sitting if you had the time. A good bit of cool little surprises and breaks from the action part of the game that keep it from getting repetitive like most FPS. Something I really like is that there's practically no interface, nor is there any health or armor to worry about picking up. I just had to get used to playing a shooter on a console again. It feels awkward at first but now I'm really enjoying putting a bullet in some poor guy's skull. The story is well implemented too. It's just very immersive and feeds you along as you go. Great voice acting too.
  12. Just got The Darkness. This game is ****in' cool. The environment feels like a mix between Bloodlines, FEAR and of course Riddick. Very cool that you can just walk about and explore and interact with objects such as TVs, phones, light switches and various crap like that. Speaking of TV's, it's hilarious, you can sit down and watch full length movies if you want. To Kill A Mockingbird was one of them and along with some music/cartoon channels. Also, the use of phones is really cool. You can just dial any number and get some random person's answering machine or business to answer. If you find collectables you go to the nearest phone and dial the number for that specific one and usually get a funny message that unlocks extra content. The humor factor reminds me a bit of Bloodlines, which of course is welcome! Just walking around in the subway is cool too in waiting for the next train to come along. I've had more fun just looking at various craps in the game than I've had with the whole experiences of the last two games I've bought. The only problem really, is that the AI is a tad weak. Well, the guns aren't that great either but the Darkness powers are cool(you can eat hearts out of corpses). Don't expect some FEAR type engaging battles, but really, what other games have great AI like that one? Oh, and the visuals are really f'n nice!
  13. Bwaha, that's true. If everyone had their back ends though, the world would be a better place.
  14. Just you. Fakefactory makes Alyx look like Michael Jackson. Bringing this back up 'cause I've got nothing better to do. Little fun comparison. Lips and eyes look better in FF. Default doesn't look as good in this angle, otherwise I agree it's overall better. Looks Brazilian in FF. More natural here. This pic just owns.
  15. Normally I like hard games. The shooting aspect just seems a bit dull. Not as much feedback as I like for a shooter.
  16. For some reason I just can't get into the right frame of mind to play this game. I've opened it up about a dozen times and have only stayed in long enough to complete one quest. I guess the shooting aspect just leaves a lot to be desired at this point. My first great experience was wasting 80 bullets of my pistol on a single enemy and then just saying "screw it", pulling out the shotgun and sprinting from tree to tree to blast this **** point-blank. Oblivian with guns does seem about right. Though of course, I haven't given it a fair shake yet. I just hope the battles become a bit more exciting.
  17. Now that my MJ fetish is out of the bag, I think I'm done.
  18. I'm pretty sure the faces look better in fakefactory, or is that just me?
  19. The performance is so bad just from the second lighting option, my guy doesn't know whether to sit or just ****in' explode already. The game looks so much different between the static lighting and object dynamic lighting that I can't even imagine what it must be like at the highest setting.
  20. I haven't played anything Valve since my last reformat, so I guess it's time to change those settings. Fact this: my PC holds a bias against you now. Really I'm using the fakefactory hi res pack too, odd.
  21. Great news!!!!!!!!!!!! I love Butcher Bay even though it was so short. The combat/shooting/stealth/hand-to-hand is better implemented than anything else out there. The game's action sequences make most others seem like generic pieces of crap by comparison. Starbreeze is my new favorite developer.
  22. It looks that good? Blame it on Valve's screenshotter superiority.
  23. Atleast so as I can come back and complain. Sure thing. Still another day or so before the game arrives. I haven't seen anyone complain about bad performance. That, I must say, is a shock.
  24. Thanks for always being there, the butt sniffing and all. You too guys, you were great!
