lol@even if it is bad.. you're pretty much admitting that in large part it sucks. If it doesn't suck then why has the ME franchise tried to copy shooter combat, while not ultimately succeeding, it's better than most other RPG games as far as combat is concerned but the straight up shooter mechanics aren't as good as straight up shooters. NWN2 combat is absolutely hideous - a game which I'm trying to play right now, but the combat is so boring that I don't know if I'll be able to manage. FPS and games like Ninja Gaiden are strictly combat games of which if the combat fails, then the whole game fails. RPG combat has been borrowing from action/FPS games in recent times because the RPG combat system is so dated and boring that it needs to borrow from other genres to be a success on consoles. RPG combat can fail to a degree and be overlooked since the game offers more than just combat.

RPG combat as a whole is one of the most goofiest and redundant parts of gameplay in gaming history.

Eh, I'm looking forward to it as most things seemed improved on, even if some are just somewhat so, and the engine looks great. I just wish the voice acting were one of those things improved on. It just feels cheap and fake, and so I guess I'm going to have to get the game for PC and hope that they release the language packs(or dunno if they'll do that for consoles as well).

Be sure to make some kind of Monk/Sacred fist, Fighter/Weapon master or Barbarian/Frenzied berserker so you can kill all the epic mooks with their ridiculously bloated HP quickly. Combat isn't much improved over the OC. Ah, that sucks. The combat is ridiculous in this game. My companions die in seconds, and I haven't even gotten into Neverwinter yet. And the game is around 40 hrs long? Jesus Christ.. Thanks for the tip though, I think I'll just do what someone else suggested and open up MOTB with a trainer and quit the OC.
-
Yeah, I have the Platinum edition which has MOTB already installed. Should I just quit NWN2 and jump straight into MOTB then?
-
Damn..I don't see how anyone can really enjoy a game like NWN2. Probably the most tedious games, with zero payoff, that I've ever played. So what's the difference between NWN2 vanilla and MOTB? The story? It must be an amazing story because if the gameplay and mechanics are exactly like NWN2, then I don't get the hype. This game sucks.

Playin NWN2 after starting it up and abandoning it for a while. Question: is there a mod for a better Journal system? The one in the game stinks.

While the idea is cool, it seems like it'd just get routine and not much fun or inventive after a while. For example, just walking up to evidence and clicking on it opens up a cut scene that basically does the work for you. So basically, after doing a few missions, you'll just be walking up to a crime scene and clicking randomly on objects to pick up just to get though to the next stage, instead of actually solving any puzzles. The aspect of interviewing subjects seems better realized though, I just hope the acting isn't so obvious that it leaves little to really think about or decide. It should be what the bulk of the game is about and it can either achieve something pretty intuitive or just fall into the category of scratching the surface as Rockstar games tend to do.

So I tested it and yep, it works now, however after installing the new Nvidia driver, my Windows 7 comes up as not genuine. Silly computers..
-
Yeah, I figured that was the case - I'll test it and report back shortly as the girlfriend is finished phone sexing me on Skype.
-
What with the World Map glitches in this game? It's pretty f'd up.
-
It ran ok enough on my system, and the controls, although not great are leagues above NWN2's of which I'm trying to play right now but I'm not sure if I can really get into it. But yeah, GTA IV got boring very very quickly to me. I'm bored of Rockstar's approach to gaming altogether.
-
Yeah it does but it's not very good as it's limited and the close zoom is intolerable, plus you have to press and hold down the button to swing the clumsy camera around.
-
One of the schemes(possible the default) is sort of what I'm looking for as far as character movement with W,A,S,D but the camera movement with the mouse isn't there. I guess I'll just have to get used to it. Thanks for the tips and especially the part about not worrying to explore.
-
So I got NW2 after never playing it before and for a more modern looking game, the control setup is awful to me. I know it's like this to suit the hardcore gamers of the old game but is there any mod or possibly an option in the game that I haven't seen yet that allows more of a modern game control with movements using W,A,S,D keys actually moving your character in said direction while being able to move the camera by a simple movement of the mouse? This setup as is makes me not even want to explore or play really.

Picked up NWN2 as I've never really been into that franchise but $10 is good for that plus expansions, and I am curious to see what MOTB is all about. Also picked up another Obsidian game in Alpha Protocol.

So... they hit the uncanny valley? One face was so well animated that for a moment I couldn't tell it was computer animation, but for the most part I know what you mean. I still think this is awesome tech and I'd love to see it applied in a RPG. Awesome tech but the acting is too obvious/forced with the facials and comes off cheesy to me.

I... er... what? ZOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRRK!

lol I wonder what's the funny part? Did I miss some obvious solution (very hard / hardcore) ? I didn't put any points on speech or barter. Ceasar was dead (I chose "do Ceasar still give you orders from beyond the grave") and battle couldn't be avoided. I'm buffeded with med-x, slasher, psycho and wear light armor (whole game in light armor to make sneaking optimal). Boss does power attack and I fall down (getting up takes long time and this was the only encounter where I'd hit the dirt). At this point there's at least 3-5 adds (tough legionares). Boss moves much faster then my Agi 5 character. And has huge amount of health. In hardcore mode health items ain't instant. That's not even the main problem as I could survive rather long time but my companions would die and at some point and then boss would stunlock me with the help of his numerous adds. If you manage to keep distance to boss, it starts to throw granades. Thankfully my character resist 'em rather good, thanks to certain perk but explosions can still throw you around. I was laughing at the solution of having to mine the boss's surroundings so meticulously and the way you retold your predicament. Basically, having a laugh at your misfortunes because it's funny in a way.

Well. The problem is, Baby. He speaks his lines. Like he reads. Them. And stops. Like I'm stopping. With what. I Type.

^No idea how anyone can attempt to defend Perry's performance. It was pretty absurd acting. Well, my main issue right now is spending far too much time trying to find quest people within the buildings. It sucks because it's pushing crappy design in between what Obsidian is actually good at, quests with depth concering choice and outcome opportunities.
