  1. "All in all, Alpha Protocol is weak and poorly balanced like a 3-legged dog with an eating disorder." For the most part, he seemed to like it. It's not often that he openly acknowledges finishing a game.
  2. For Unseen Presence, it's actually possible to meet the requirement with Darcy's Saudi mission; Investigate Jizan Weapon Stockpile. At first, I thought it would be necessary to kill too many RPG militants. However, the chopper eventually circles the camp and those silly militants continue to track it with their rockets even if they end up aiming into an adjacent wall. A few ka-booms later and Darcy is giving you the all clear to come out of hiding. I completed it with tranqing just 2 foes and no alarms. Unfortunately, when they see the chopper and turn red it's enough to blow any chance at One With the Shadows.
  3. I've never found that dancer, but with subtitles enabled I often saw "The night is sooooo beautiful..." appear at the bottom of the screen. And now I know why.
  4. A great line that's even greater with subtitles enabled: My favourite line is not so much a line but can be heard in the elevator at the Moscow embassy if SIE is your handler. She's humming Wagner's Ride Of The Valkyries, the perfect nod to Apocalypse Now. Of course, Steven Heck belongs in a class all to himself. My favourite email:
  5. But then if you remove that substantial portion of panting Handmaiden fanboys who would never accept Kreia as their future mother-in-law even if she came out and admitted being Kae...
  6. :D lol You've hit the nail on the head. I still think there's an eensy-weensy chance that a Kreia/Kae connection will be revealed in KotOR 3. In which case, it would be cool to revisit the missing thread to see how our speculations held up. I don't mind if it got locked and even stays that way, as long as it wasn't chopped. Sounds good.
  7. I don't recall my thread being locked, but even so, why was it deleted? There are plenty of long threads, like this one, that got locked but thankfully not deleted. And where's the locked poll? I never saw that. Did it get deleted too?
  8. Hi everybody! Back in March, I posted a thread speculating that Obsidian may have originally intended for Kreia and Master Kae to be the same character. The discussion lasted several weeks and around 20 pages. The majority of participants ended up agreeing with the theory. But now, the link to the thread no longer works: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?showtopic=31591 Does anybody have any idea what may have happened to it?
  9. Woe to the bandwidth challenged amongst us.
  10. Let me guess. You have the domestic US version, right? "
  11. And you have had no opportunity to find out that the patch is ready and working now. This is just a theory you have. Let's just hope your assumption is correct.
  12. According to the Exile's first conversation with GOTO: "Revan did not intend to destroy the Republic. He deliberately left the infrastructure of many planets intact - and many military production facilities. ... I believe that Revan saw a war on another front that we did not, or saw the value in keeping a strong military force." The threat on another front is probably part of what Revan was able to recall after the end of KotOR. I believe Kreia reveals this threat as the true Sith in the unknown regions.
  13. The Malachor scenes with Mira, Hanharr, Bao-Dur, Remote and GOTO have all been left in as inconsequential filler to keep the game's finale from passing too quickly. It shouldn't really matter to anyone unless they actually happen to be following the storyline. And in that case, you can always defer your disappointment by pretending that these plotlines are going to be resolved in episode 3.
  14. I wouldn't exactly call this Kreia/Kae idea an "interpretation of the game." Most agree that, even if it was formerly written into the storyline, it is no longer a feature of the game. Furthermore, I probably haven't seen most of the evidence either because much of it only appears while playing DS or in conversations that require more influence with Kreia than I ever had. It's all in the dialog.tlk file. Darth Flatus, have you posted anywhere else in this thread besides on this page? I was hoping to read some of your counterarguments. If you haven't posted any then which counterarguments posted by others do you consider the most convincing?
  15. Another soul is mine. Thanks, FaramirK, but I especially have to thank everyone who posted all the interesting challenges to the Kreia/Kae idea. Without them it would have faded away quickly like a cry in the wilderness back on page one. Regarding Obsidian's story writing, it's always tough to release an effective cliffhanger like Empire Strikes Back. However, personally, I think a $50 game lasting 50 hours should be a lot more self contained than a $5 film lasting 2 hours. But that becomes another topic. Throughout TSL, Kreia is constantly revealed as a motherly figure, and I don't mean Mother Teresa. She is rather like a female Saturn, from Roman mythology, who was perhaps better known for his kids - Jupiter, Neptune and Pluto. Saturn devoured all his other children and was ultimately slain by Jupiter. To be Kreia's child meant to obey or be broken if you were not powerful enough to destroy her. From when she first rose in the Peragus morgue, to her domination over the resurrected Hanharr, to the floating lightsabres, it all reminded me so much of deeds out of classic Roman or Greek mythology. The Kreia/Kae connection only further extended her matriarchy deep into the past. She never wanted to be the greatest. Instead, she wanted to be the mother of the greatest. And, let's face it, a Jedi would have to have incredibly powerful maternal instincts to risk exile for the sake of bearing her own child.
  16. It's highly unlikely that they'd do a content patch, as the said they're happy with the way KotOR II turned-out after the content cutting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> In that case... um... it's not likely going to appear in any patch. (...thought I said that. )
  17. You're absolutely correct. It's not in the game. It doesn't count as far as the existing storyline is concerned. In fact, it probably wasn't even cut and it's not likely going to appear in any patch. However, it could become revealed in a future KotOR episode - perhaps a prequel. And if that will ever be the case then you can tell all your friends that you heard about it here first.
  18. Oops. :"> /Forna prepares 3rd cup of coffee
  19. Where does it say that? Didn't Revan and Malak enter the ancient ruins on Dantooine immediately before going to fight the Mandalorians? And didn't they continue their search for the star maps immediately after Malachor? So, if they travelled to Kashyyyk shortly after Malachor then, according to the they were there about 4 - 5 years earlier. That would place KotOR around 5 years after Malachor, no?
  20. You good. Timeline bad. Arren Kae has baby Handmaiden. It's probably not a planned event and so could have happened when she was already in her 40s, assuming fertility is not all that different in the Star Wars Universe. No where does it say she was young. In fact, she was one of Revan's first Masters. (10 years passes) The council finds out about Kae's child and exiles her. (unknown period of time passes) Kae follows Revan to fight in Mandalorian Wars. (unknown period of time passes) Revan, Kae and Yusanis go to Malachor V where war ends. (~4 years passes) Events of KotOR I happen. (~5 years passes) Events of KotOR II happen.
  21. Kae was first exiled from the Order for having a child and only then followed Revan to war with force powers intact. I got the impression that Kreia was not all that strongly connected to the force at the game's start and recovered much of it as events unfolded. (Who are we kidding? She recovered it with each level up. ) My personal theory about how she reconnected is that Revan helped her. I suspect Revan found her already cast down when he returned to Malachor. He may have saved her life, restored some of her force powers, gave her the Ebon Hawk and perhaps even assigned her the task of protecting the Exile from Sion and Nihilus. From there, Revan went off to the Unknown Regions to fight the "true Sith." Kreia told the Exile at the end that Revan would need all available allies, both Jedi and Sith, in his struggle.
  22. No. No. I totally agree with the first idea of setting Revan & Exile with a simple portrait/alignment selection menu before starting the game. At first, I actually got impatient with the Atton-chat and told him I didn't care about history. A short while later I realised the implications and had to replay that scene. However, none of this will reduce the number of options that have to be built around in the KotOR III game if Revan & Exile remain significant parts of the future story. That's why I think they won't. It will be much easier to keep Kreia.
