An odd little Inconsistancy
phiont replied to kitty_with_a_lightsaber's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The same happens in the room adjacent to the Onderon palace museum. Breathe Mask, poison immunity implant, Master Valor, Force Breathe, etc - nothing keeps you from choking on the fumes. -
The script writer inserted an interesting comment into the dialog texts for the final conversation between Exile and Kreia. Kreia: {Slight contempt, actually making a comment on the fact that there's no, "Luke, I am your father" event in this game} Perhaps you were expecting some surprise, for me to reveal a secret that had eluded you, something that would change your perspective of events, shatter you to your core. {Shakes head} There is no great revelation, no great secret. {Quiet, but important, like conveying the player is the most important treasure in the galaxy} There is only you.

An odd little Inconsistancy
phiont replied to kitty_with_a_lightsaber's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
One of the first inconsistencies I noticed in the game was that the mining droids on Peragus were also attacking T3-M4, even though they'd only been reprogrammed to mine organics. -

If you're not able to get that conversation option from Visas while aboard the Ebon Hawk try again after disembarking with Visas in your party. It may have been just a momentary glitch, but that's how I got it to happen, last time. -

According to Bao-Dur: "Telos' atmosphere has been turned into acidic vapor. Landing a ship in the wastes would be like sealing it in a hangar full of hungry mynocks. There remains the possibility of an unsanctioned landing site. Still shielded, but not a Restoration Zone or other listed facility. That's why I need to access the shield network. Here: a small anomaly in the shield network's power grid. I'm not surprised the TSF didn't spot this - it's subtle, more like an error or random flux than something intentional. It looks like power is being drawn to generate a shield over a small area in the polar region, but nothing should be down there. Orbital cameras show... nothing. Just an empty mesa. We should recon the area. I think it's our best bet of finding the ship." -

You might need to have "Frame Buffer Effects" turned on in advanced graphics options. -

No need. When playing as Visas just hit the Free Look key to enter first person view and you've got force sight. And the big advantage to viewing through Visas is that you can use it for a second or two and then exit - no FP cost and no having to wait for the 30 second clock to tick down before recovering your normal sight. I used it to look through locked doors. For instance, the locked private rooms in Khoonda are all bedrooms, while the inaccessible area off the Nar Shadda docks are just empty passageways. Edit: I've just noticed that Neroyume already answered about using Visas. -
Thanks for the tips, Darth Frog. It worked. I managed to eliminate the HK without disturbing any of his mines. Actually it's not that difficult just to shepherd each party member away from them. Of course, they have to be in solo and stationary mode. Then it's just a matter of having Atton sneak up on the droid with an ion grenade. Not surprisingly, the entrance to the Harbinger remains shut until the HK has been dealt with. Bottom line: 2579 XP on entering the EH and 6079 after departing the system I tried playing through at character level 1, but the de-Sithification XP remains 100 each. I'm also convinced that the type of inventory available to a level 2 is significantly better than what a level 1 will find. On to Telos, and I'm now trying to determine which of the Czerka or Ithorian path will get me to the planet's surface with less XP.

KotOR had around 14 such interactions, depending on whether you include brief exchanges like the one between HK-47 and T3-M4 in the Korriban academy. How many does TSL have?
-
I must be doing something wrong (or right). I already had around 2950 XP on entering the Harbinger. By the time I boarded the EH it was up to ~4300. I had the incredible luck to find the Stealth Field Enhancer visor so I didn't have to slay anything. Even my colleagues were kind enough to stay put until I'd could reach the other end of each level, whereupon they thoughtfully materialised at my side on entering the next section. At first I thought my surplus XP may have to do with the difficulty being set at normal. You see, I was scoring 125 XP for each trooper slain on the Hawk and you've reported only 100. However, raising the difficulty didn't lower it. So maybe the game slipped me a big XP bonus when I raised the air temp in the mines, although there was no on-screen XP award that I recall. By the way, I've also gone with the same Attribute spread you've chosen above and for the same reasons. Oh, and my character's name is Ghetmi Attahir. :D

Still wearing the Mining Uniform?

This discussion got started over here, where it was straying from the Game Intros topic. I have considered doing a min-XP run or a quick run, and I will try both at least with Peragus to see where it leads. Interestingly, there is actually some overlap with the tactics for a max-XP run. Examples: In a min-XP or quick run you jog through the dormitories without bothering the droids. In a max-XP run you jog through the dormitories without bothering the droids, but you come back later with Kreia in tow to have her watch you bothering each droid individually and personally. Quick runs and min-XP runs are fun because the different 'objective' function requires approaches that are different from normal and munchkin playthroughs. Also, there tend to be more difficult situations because your character has fewer abilities and less equipment; in some cases you may have to balance the time/XP penalty for obtaining a certain item/power/ability vs. the difficulty of progressing the main quest without said item/power/ability. P.S.: there is enough difference between quick runs (a la QdQ - Quake done quick) and min-XP runs to make them interesting in their own right. For example, in a min-XP run you would have T3 clear away the droids in the fuel depot, because any XP he gets at that point is 'free' and does not transfer to the main character, but if you don't do this then Atton and T3 will likely drop some of the droids when you pass the area coming from the Harbinger later. In a quick run you would have T3 roll straight to the console, open the fuel depot door and race him past the droids, because it does not matter if Atton and T3 have their fun with some of the droids when you come from the Harbinger later. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Damn. I didn't realise that about T3 not gaining player XP. Ok... Back to square one. Where else in the game do party members not accumulate XP for the main PC? I'm quite sure Mira's escape from the Yuck Yuck Tar is one of those, no? By the way, so far it's damned challenging. I've chosen a female sentinel for the useful skills/feats. Besides, having Disciple instead of Handmaiden should cut at least one confrontation out of my future. So far, I'd managed to reach the airlock with just around 2000 XP. [Edit: post 100 (w00t) ]

Crazy idea: Has anyone tried to complete the game with the minimum amount of XP possible? Come to think of it there a lots of ways to avoid XP. - side-stepping a lot of hostiles in stealth, - paying 2000 Credit for a bad reputation with the Exchange on NS, - running past the Red Eclipse to their leader in the communications room, - don't repair T3, - no side quests, - etc. Your character would end up kind of gray with minimal cash, skills and inventory. Could be quite a challenge and over quickly, too.

The Barab Ore Ingot is probably the most damaging with 2-16 fire. I think Qixoni is the only DS crystal in the game and it provides only 5 damage and +1 FP regen. It's what the shady lady in the Onderon cantina will swap for a starport visa. Yeah, I think it might be a bug. Hard to believe, I know. -

Just in case someone doesn't already know... Remove your *personal crystal from your lightsabre after each level-up and visit Kreia to ask her about it. Every few levels (perhaps only after Attribute increases) she will re-tune your crystal, increasing its properties. Your last opportunity for a Kreia crystal consultation is before completing your fourth world. I think that means before entering Jek Jek Tarr on Nar; the Tomb on Korr; the Onderon throneroom; or before finalising the defence of Khoonda on Dant. * The personal crystal is the one found in the Dantooine cave. -
Still wearing the Mining Uniform?
phiont replied to TetsuJedi's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
The miner's uniform is actually quite useful if you upgrade it with the Armorply II overlay and Biorestorative V underlay: Defence: +1 Stealth: +4 Reflex Saves: +1 Constitution: +3 Regeneration: +3 And it doesn't block force powers. -
I totally agree that Peragus is an important level. I liked it very much, just not at the very start of the game. I'd have preferred starting the game on the Harbinger just as they are receiving the distress signal from Kreia on the Ebon Hawk. That sequence could have served as a prologue concluding with the player passing out from the medical treatment. As it is, the player starts the game investigating the Peragus massacre through logs and, just as things are becoming a bit clear, the setting for another massacre with all new logs to read parks itself at the facility. Overkill... (pun intended )
-
Doh!! If you ask me it's a bug that you are prevented from keeping the prologue goodies. As it is, you're forced to backtrack to the medbay once you find a computer spike in the mines just so you can read the treatment report.
-
Firstly, I regard the Endar Spire as the actual intro level of KotOR. It's much more than just a prologue. The pre-Peragus prologue in TSL is optional, doesn't feature the main character and doesn't allow you to keep any gathered XP or inventory. But, between Taris and Peragus I prefer Taris because it gave me an opportunity to get accustomed to the main player character. On Peragus, I turned 2 corners and suddenly I was forced to be a droid. Peragus just didn't introduce very much for an intro level. The HK-50 and T3-M4 characters were just copied from game 1. Sion only participates in a cutscene. Kreia and Atton had no time to actually reveal anything about themselves. On the other hand, I actually felt quite familiar with the 6 party members who escaped Taris with me. And what did Peragus have to offer compared with dueling in the ring, winning the swoopbike championship, defeating a giant rancor, surviving Calo Nord, freeing an outcast settlement, curing a plague, infiltrating a Sith military base, shooting down a fighter squadron, etc... ?? Simply no contest.
-
Yup.
-
I didn't level up Bao-Dur until he could be recruited as a Jedi Guardian. He spent the rest of the game wearing the Peragus miner's uniform with Biorestorative Underlay V and ArmorPly Overlay II (yeah, it's a bug). I'd bet the last thing half of my game's hostiles saw before dying was an airborne Iridonian in a miner's outfit flying at them with a blue double-bladed lightsabre in his bionic grasp. Scary!! Mira is fun, but her special talent with minefields just can't compete with Bao-Dur's use of Master Force Jump.
-
Cool theory, but then how did Kae's robes end up with Handmaiden?
-
Yup. In the cut dialog Vash says that she did not come to Korriban to hide, but to fight the Sith who were re-establishing a colony there. Vash: {smiles}I dislike passivity. Much like another Jedi I know. When I found her dead I felt kinda guilty for having left Korriban to the end. By the way, I think the same voice actor does the Handmaiden sisters.
-
I've pieced together a version of the cut dialong that was to have occurred between the Exile and Master Lonna Vash; found dead on Korriban. Kaah, the Padawan of Lonna Vash, has just died. Exile: Kaah is dead. Vash: I know. I felt it. Exile: Are the two of you mentally bonded? Vash: Yes, as many Masters and Padawans become with time. Exile: If Kaah were to die, would you also? Vash: It is painful to lose one to whom you are bonded. But it is not fatal. Exile: My bond to Kreia would result in my death were she to die. Vash: This bond you share with Kreia is not like any I've ever heard of. How did it come to be? Exile: I do not know. Vash: That is most unnatural. Look within for the answer. We are each solely accountable for everything in our lives. Nothing ever happens to us unless we allow it. I'm not sure if I assembled their conversation entirely correctly, but the important bit is that the Exile actually mentioned Kreia by name to someone who should have recognised it if Kreia had indeed been using that name while Revan's master. However, Lonna Vash doesn't seem to recognise it. Another day, another detail...
