I don't remember Canderous ever referring to "you" using the male pronoun. He refers to Revan, before the Leviathan, as a "he" but not the player character. Remember that Revan wore that big cloak and face mask. The mask also probably had something that distorted his/her voice. If those were the only images the Mandalorians had of Revan, how would they have known Revans gender? Canderous just assumed that Revan was a guy and didn't know any better.

Yes, one of those is what matters most to me. Seriously tough, I think story and characters are the most important aspects. Romance is a part of character development, so I'll give it a mention as well.

Who should make the leap to KotOR II?
Taran'atar replied to Retnuh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I'd like to see Bastila, Jolee, and Mission return. However, the only non-droid likely to play a major role in KOTOR 2's storyline is Canderous. He's the only one that can't be killed off in the first game. -
No. I don't buy toys, much less Star Wars toys.

Strange how so many people are willing to spend so much time frequenting the forum for a game they clearly despise and want nothing to do with. Oh well. Anyway, as for the poll question: It's a little hard to compare them since I haven't played one. I voted for KOTOR since it has the virtue of being the original.

It's a fake. Far too fanboyish to be true.

In the movies era, that may be true. Revan and Malak lived 4,000 years earlier. That's a long time. Sith traditions may have changed. In the days of Palpatine, Sith Lords took on a new name for their Sith persona. Apparently Revan and Malak just tacked "Darth" onto their real names. Exar Kun, Ajunta Pall and the others mentioned in KOTOR didn't even do that. They just used their real names with no "Darth". This change makes some sense. In Revan and Malak's era, Sith Lords acted overtly and made no secret of their identities. In Palpatine's time, the Sith modus operandi was to be stealthy and secretive. Taking on a Sith alias would fit with this change in their culture.

Dark Side REALLY needs work for KOTOR II
Taran'atar replied to Ivan the Terrible's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I agree. The whole evil thing wasn't handled very well in KOTOR. You go around murdering people in cold blood in front of good people like Bastila, Carth, and Mission, and what do they do? At worse, they give you a few harsh words. If I was on a road trip with some people, and one of them suddenly started killing people, I'd get the hell away from the psychotic f*ck. -
Will KOTOR 2 have Revan in it?
Taran'atar replied to sideshowbob's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Carth is not alive no matter what. It's possible to kill him with a dark side female character. The developers said that they didn't want to "stomp" on anyones choices from the first game. If someone chose to play a nice guy/gal, yet still murder Bastila in cold blood, then they can't stomp on that choice either. There's also the choice of not buying HK-47 on Tatooine. So the only characters from the first game that are definetely around and definetely alive no matter what you do in the first game are T3 and Canderous. -
Because i like RPGs and i'm a fan of former BIS ?!? Just a thought... I seem to recall seeing a "Gaming and RPG Discussion" forum run by Obsidian on my way here. I would assume that that forum would have little or nothing to do with Star Wars or Star Wars games. Perhaps you'd have more fun posting there?

Will Helena,Bastila's mother, be in the game?
Taran'atar replied to SepticFlesh's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
It was my impression that Helena's sickness was terminal. She probably wouldn't have survived the five years between KOTOR and TSL. -
Correction, it's Star Wars that sucks. So. . . why are you here? This is a forum for a Star Wars game. Why would you hang around at a forum of something you dislike? Do you have nothing better to do? Aren't there things that interest you? If so, don't you think it would be more fun to hang around at forums devoted to those things? As for the poll: All of those options suck. How about another KOTOR sequel that ties in to the original (which it most certainly wouldn't if it was set 2,000 years later)? Barring that, how about a good FPS or RTS?

As of now, what are your thoughts on KOTOR II?
Taran'atar replied to Tyrell's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
From what I've seen/heard/read about it, KOTOR 2 sounds good. I'm a little dissapointed that you won't be put back in the role of Revan, and that characters from the first game aren't returning in any role bigger than cameos (except T3 and maybe HK-47), although I can understand why they made that choice. It was encouraging to hear that the developers are concentrating on story and characters, instead of eye candy and other technical aspects. It shows that they have their priorities straight. If only movie producers (*cough*George Lucas*cough) could get that message through their heads. Anyway, I like the darker new direction and tone that they're setting for the sequel. -
THE DARK SIDE IS THE ONLY WAY!!
Taran'atar replied to sithlord89's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Of course. When you meet the kid of Korriban, just don't try to help Carth reconcile with him. The kid and Carth will get into it, he'll attack his father, then you can kill him. -
THE DARK SIDE IS THE ONLY WAY!!
Taran'atar replied to sithlord89's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Sure there is. If you play a female character. Although it does require you to actually be nice to Carth for a while, and not murder his son. I prefer the light side in KOTOR, personally. I like Jolee and Mission, killing them kinda sucks. -
As I recall, in the original KOTOR, you didn't have to participate in the romances if you didn't want to. I say they should include an attempt at romance. Players that don't want it in the game can choose not to participate, players that like it have it. Personally, I didn't mind the romances in the first KOTOR. I have enough interest in them that when I'm replaying the game, I'll go through with it, but nowhere near enough interest to write or read fan fic about them. If there are none in KOTOR 2 I might be slightly dissapointed, but nowhere near enough to dissuade me from buying the game.

So far so good. No. All Sith are dark force users, but not all dark force users are Sith. Same with the light side of the Force and Jedi.
-
Maybe you (the player character in KOTOR 2) had an opportunity to kill Revan after he fell to the dark side and declared himself to be the Sith Lord. However, Revan was a fine leader and good friend, and you couldn't bring yourself to do it. Because you tried to kill Revan, he sent you away and told you never to show your face to him again. Revan hadn't completely fallen at that point. As punishment for failing to kill Revan, thereby allowing him to go on to kill billions of innocent people, the Jedi and the Republic sent you into exile. Personally, I think part of the fun of the original KOTOR was speculating on your characters backstory, how Revan fell to the dark side, stuff like that. I think (or hope) that in KOTOR 2 they'll leave stuff like that open for you (the players) to decide on your own.

Contradicting statements?
Taran'atar replied to random evil guy's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
"blacking out" to me, kinda implies falling unconscious. The failure to retain memory of events that happen when you're unconscious doesn't equate to amnesia. The player character in KOTOR 1 didn't have amnesia either. He/she had all of his/her memories. They were just fake. -
Compared to what we've seen in the movies, every weapon was gimped in KOTOR. A single blaster hit, or swipe across the face with a vibroblade should kill most enemies. Compared to other weapons in the game, the lightsaber chewed things up pretty well. If the lightsaber is going to be made more powerful to reflect it's behavior in the movies, every weapon should be as well.

The only people that have any information on those, or any characters in this game are the developers, and I somehow doubt they'll be forthcoming.

THIS WILL BE THE BEST GAME EVER !!!!!
Taran'atar replied to sithlord89's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I wouldn't go so far as to say "best game ever" but yeah, it does sound good. -
Agreed on most counts. The female character on the official KOTOR 2 site doesn't seem any older than 30. Look at her face. She exhibits none of the signs of advance, or even middle age. Although in the EGM article, there are a couple screenshots and a mention of a middle-aged female Jedi named "Kreia". Perhaps some people are getting the two confused.
