For making SMALL amends for the crimes he commited throughout most of his life. That's rather fair and generous of the force. And what irks me most with this theory is that Jedi now get taken over by the dark side and not because they choose willfully to take the easy, fast path (as Yoda said in ESB). To me, it sounds like Lucas has been watching to much Exorcist lately. The whole prequel are made to take every guilt off Anakin. He was enslaved, his mother killed, he is stupid enough to be fooled by Palpatine, evil Jedi don't allow him to shag his love...there is NOTHING left of the Anakin Obi-Wan once described as a good man who was too ambitious for his own good until he chose to start using the darkside and not because he grew up in a bad enviroment. And I never heard anybody complain about Sebastian Shaw at the end of the movie until Lucas decided to make a cut and paste job with Hayden. Now all the Lucas apologists jump out of their holes to defend every silly decision he makes. The man is a revisionist. Look at all the lies he spread throughout the whole years. How many episodes Star Wars is made of ? Nine ? Twelve ? Six ? Accoring to Lucas the saga was always made of six/nine/twelve episodes. Depends on the interview he gives. Vader was always meant to be Luke's father ? Too bad there are still dozens of drafts around od Star Wars and ESB which prove his lies, yet he insists that he is right despite all the evidence. Luke and Leia were siblings ? Ha ! Kernsher said in an interview that Lukes sister was meant to be on the far side of the galaxy and episodes 6 to 9 would have been partly about Lukes search for her. Unfortunatly Lucas lost interest in Star Wars and collapsed the story into the heresy that is known as RotJ. Bah, I once used to respect Lucas but he turned out to be an arrogant, lying hypocrite without any shred of dignity for movie history. People are right. It IS his saga and he can tinker with it until be becomes a joke for future generations of film makers but he could release the unaltered trilogy so people could choose which they like better. Like Peter Jackson released both versions of LotR. But Lucas is trying to force people to either like his new versions or none at all. Jerk.

To the contrary, it changes the whole Anakin character ark. Now Anakin isn't anymore the Jedi who once chose the dark path because he was impatient and lusted for power. The new prequelized Anakin was taken over by the a dark spirit and that means that he can't be possibly blamed for the things he did as Darth Vader. Plus, it looks stupid because Yoda and Obi-Wan are still old men as ghosts despite their lifelong service for the light side of the force while Anakin was two out of three parts an arrogant jerk who turned evil, helped to create and sustain an empire and is rewarded with eternal good looks. Aha. Minor point. Seriously, Star Wars becomes sillier with each release. George Lucas hasn't the faintest clue anymore what his saga was about because he didn't make it. Easy as that, he had so many good people in the crew who counterbalanced his weakness as a director, writer and his obsession with special effects. Now that they are all gone and Lucas is in charge alone it shows that the man is not the genius behind Star Wars. Worse, the man is lying constantly. About his so-called motives, about the script, practically about everything. He is the biggest hypocrite I have ever seen in movie history. He is in an association (forgot name) which works to preserve classic movies but he himself denies the very fans which made him rich and famous the classic unaltered versions of his movies we all once fell in love. I do not hate the man, but I despise him because he became an icon for all that is bad in Hollywood.

Because the force rewards jerks who help to kill millions of people and enslave a whole galaxy just because they throw down one man down a bottomless pit. It's all logicial...somewhere in Lucas' world where no other person has access to.

Lucas has completely gone bonkers. He has the incredibly lame idea that Anakin was possesed by Darth Vader like in the Exorcist and not because he chose the dark path all by himself. This is another step to take all fault from Anakin, but it cheapens his redemption incredibly. That's why Hayden is now pasterd on Sebastian Shaws body because the "evil spirit" is gone. Let's face it, Lucas made a masterpiece by mistake. Ten years ago I would have laughed at such assumption but the man himself proved me wrong. But I should have known because Return of the Jedi was nearly already like those liveless and silly Prequels. I won't buy this DVDs. Ever. My original widescreen tapes of the Original Trilogy may turn to dust one day but Lucas will never ever see one penny from me for this bastardized versions. Oh, and for those who can brave the news: Jar Jar Binks is in RotJ. EDIT: Hayden will NEVER be the man Obi-Wan described in Star Wars. Did anybody imagine Anakin Skywalker as being whiny, creepy and ultimately dumb ? If your answer is yes, you deserve the prequels and the destruction of the originals.

I have artistic qualms against the usage of orignal John William's original score in KotOR. The music was once written with character context, like the imperial march being, you guess it, music to identify the EMPIRE and Darth Vader especially. Starting to use it left and right just because it sounds good cheapens the effect it has in the original movies. Lucas already did it in his Prequel Trilogy and I disliked it very much. If music is used randomly and not for specific scenes, occurences and characters it becomes something like elevator background music. Another good example is the scene form the orignal Star Wars when Luke looks into the twin suns. Everytime I hear this part of the score the scene comes alife in my mind. Let the composer write something original, something we can pinpoint to KotOR when we listen to it and not to 5 different movies and 20 games.

Winter 2006 is way too late in my opinion because unlike other titles NWN 2 has been already announced and therefore a lot of people will follow its development. While there is few to show at the moment things are likely to change once core development starts and information might be released more freely.

The chick (how disrespectful <_< ) is Jennifer Hale and she already did the wizzardess in Baldur's Gate I (forgot her name, companion of Minsc) and Fall-from-Grace and I'm sure I recognized her voice in other games.

Staying private might cost them money they might earn through going public but it also makes them aswerable to the shareholders, and I think this is very bad for a creative CRPG producer. Shareholders want to earn money and not take risks so they will demand that Obsidian makes "safe" games instead of experimantal ones for small niche groups. Nah, keep your shares and don't sell Obsidian to another company.

Eldar, if the computer is intended for playing games I'd go for Athlon64 and a high-end card like the Radeon9800 Pro (which is very cheap by now, and extremly powerful). By buying a weak graphic card you could effectivly cripple your computer for games. More and more engine calculations are optimized for GPUs and not CPUs, so even with a 3.2 GHz processor games might run slow or at least no as fast as one would expect. Depending on the software you use I would consider buying an Intel processor. Sadly, most "proffessional" programs are still compiled for Intel architectures and benchmarks prove it, while the Athlon 64 is perfect for games with the memory controller being build into the CPU itsself. So, my advice would be to invest into the graphic card. I already mentioned the Radeon 9800 Pro which is a very powerful card which is very cheap now. You could also wait another year until all the new technologies like BTX and PCI-Express are established but so far Benchmarks didn't show any difference performancewise to their PCI 2.1 counterparts and they will be probably very expensive at the beginning. Nothing good came out of Kotor I premature release. We had to wait months for patches and the game is still buggy in some places because LucasArts practically abondoned support for it. Let Obsidian have their six to eight months for testing so when it is finally released we can maybe play it out of the box or after one or two patches and when LucasArts decides that it isn't worth of any further support. Huh ? I think you got it all wrong. Without knowing the context of this quote I believe they meant that they will focus on story and character interaction and less on technological advancement like adding new flashy effects.

What they did right with the tatooine map was the feeling of distance, esoecially in the desert. The background fitted perfectly with the 3D Map. Compare it to the crappy background image of the Lost Planet. How in the nine hells did this low resolution crap passed Bioware's quality assurance ??

Dito, script editor plus compiler. Look at some of the awesome scripts which were created for Baldur's Gate. Developers will rarely have the time to invest as much thought and time as some people on the internet did in their free time.
