  1. It a great game, not perfect, but then again, what is ?
  2. There's my new build, I'm training him to be versatile with weaponry, including blasters. This idea was reinforced by my last Kotor playthrough where my idea of ranged weapons as being weak changed, Canderous, leveled with dex as the main stat, wearing a heavy exoskeleton and wielding the badass baragwin heavy repeater(the one that looked like his Ordo's heavy repeater) could kick ass and chew bubble gum in the Starforge, he dished out more pain then the other jedi, and neither bolt deflection or shields could take it, all the while saying "There it is !!" or "That's what I live for !!". Good ol' Canderous. I say bring him back in Kotor3, there's one non-jedi who's not a liability.
  3. Good, very good, I'm glad there's some evolution, perhaps one day all the prejudice will go away for good.
  4. Icewind Dale was ok, I got to a certain point in the game but then dropped it and went no further, I never looked back either, not sure why, I had a good grasp on everything. I would'nt exactly call it hack and slash, it is more evolved then Diablo afterall, and the problem with alot of RPGs is that you don't get enough combat. I gotta say though, I crawled through some of IWD's dungeons and I came out of there a hardass, I think my party literally spent months, or so the in-game clock showed, away from town trying to get to the bottom of that insanely huge dungeon in some place far far away. You did get a real feeling of "we, band of brothers" with the rest of your team wwhen you got out of there though, kinda like the spirit you get in Call of Duty. I guess it was pretty good, I should run it again and see.
  5. Way back when, the rule was to start a new RPG I did'nt know as a warrior class, I felt that choosing that path would afford me good defense, survivability and an effective way to flatten any opposition. But then I played Kotor the first time and got bored as my guradian simply quashed anything in his path, and then I played divine divinity and found that a warrior dosen't have all the answers. Since then, I play every new RPG with mage types, they may be physically weaker then warriors, but they're way of fighting is more interesting, and they get skills and diplomacy for the most part. In team based RPGs, I always have a rogue and ranger, but in PC oriented games I don't see their appeal, the ranger because he's a jack of all trades and master of none, and the rogue because he dosen't make sense to me on his own.
  6. The market for Kotor and Kotor2 is mosltly male, in fact the video game and sci-fi market is mostly male, and that's the basis for most of the opinions here. Because of that, I have no doubt the protagonist in Kotor3 will be thought of as male as all the major characters in Star Wars are male, it makes sense in that way. If the market were to turn right around, then we'd agree the pc would be female, it's that simple. Just look around you, the only games who have a female protagonist are Tomb Raider, Drakan, and a few others, and those protagonists are notorious for excellent boobs and curves under scanty, tight clothing, therefore we know who they're made for. There will have to be a larger female consumer population for these products before they start doing anything about it. With that in mind, debate all you want, but perceptions don't change that easy.
  7. Yeah, I got Arcanum, but isn't that game half baked or something, it had the look of a bug-ridden fantasy world Fallout wannabe but with a turn based system that dosen't work right.
  8. yeah, it drove me insane how it just stopped at the Ebon flying into some galaxy and nothing else ****ing well happening <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You just say that because you haven't played DS, trust me, the DS movie snippet makes the LS's "ebon hawk flying into the sunset" thing look brilliant.
  9. The Baldur's Gate games were monuments in their own right, and Phantom, if you never played them, then I envy you, so were the Fallout series, despite their unstableness. Planescape, I tried and tried, but never could get anywhere, I'm sure it's brilliant but it just did'nt happen for me. I got the Elder Scrolls 3, that's for sure, but it's kinda daunting if you ask me, when you play Kotor, you know you're in for 35 hours and it's fast paced enough and linear enough that you're never stalled or stumped. Another game I bought last year but never played is Scared, I'd call it a Diablo clone but it's so much more, try it and you'll see, but it's daunting as well, one of my buddies said he spent 70 hours on it and never even reached the edge of the world. I've been playing it recently...until I reinstalled Kotor, and I had a good 25 hours in, yet my journal stated that I had explored a mere 7% of the world Divine Divinity deserves another chance, there's no doubt, but if I play again I'll have to start again from scratch because it's been too long, the game is so 2D that it might get annoying.
  10. Can anyone give me a recommandation on a good rpg, I need something to pick up where Kotor left off. I've been playing the Kotor games over and over lately, way too much for my taste, it's getting obsessive and rather frightening. Hell, it gets bad when you start a new game right after finishing it, without even a break, I gotta break the cycle.
  11. I was trying to make a point, I guess it's bad to overemphasize.
  12. Bah, if I remember correctly, he didn't have that much to say anyway.
  13. I guess that settles it then, we just don't know. ::end of thread::
  14. This idea might've cropped up before, but I just finished Kotor and defeated Malak, when you think about it, they never said what happened to him after that, did he just die ? I guess he did because the station might've exploded around him, and Revan did say there was no hope so Malak had to die. But no one knows for sure. It would take an LS outcome for this scenario of course, but Revan, knowing he was the one who turned Malak to the dark side might've convinced the counsel to reprogram his mind as well. Maybe he followed Revan to the sith empire as a jedi, they might've even been able to fix him up with a new mandible and take that metal thing off his face. Malak might prove to be a good party member for Kotor3, and what a story to tell.
  15. Just look for them, that's the great thing about Kotor2, every container you open and every merchant you meet provides a wealth of surprises. Or you can cheat, apparently, there's a cheat that lets you spawn any item you want. I never cheated in the Kotor games, but I'd like more info on it, if I play it again, I want to make sure I get alot of mandalorian desintegrators, one way, or the other. :D
  16. Let's talk business for a bit... There are many female participants on these boards, it tends to surprise me, but it's a happy surprise. However, I haven't checked the record and I don't know, but I heard the official story is that Revan's a LS male. That makes sense, as you all know, Lucas Arts can't be awarded any prizes for being original, for breaking the mold, or for trying to market new ideas. The fact of the matter is, Star Wars was made for little boys to enjoy in an age where society dictated that little girls didn't have an interest in such things, and it's characters were tailored to be idolised by little boys, and Kotor simply follows suit, it's a little boy's game and little boys need their heroes, and as such these heroes have to be little boys so little boys can identify themselves to them. And by little boys, I mean males of any age, it's rumored we never grow up :D All that being said, I'm glad times are changing, it's about bloody time, I don't give a damn how you play the game, I think it should be played however you want to play it, I only wanted explain why the Star Wars thing was so, and why this debate is irrelevant.
  17. That's what I did :D
  18. T3 had no personnality whatsoever in Kotor, he was completely blank, that sucked. The great thing about Kotor is all the characters pitched in and to the very end, I always alternate party members and it makes it that much more interesting. One of Kotor2's problems is that you only use a few of your allies, some of them never even leave the ship, and it gets even worse when they start becoming jedi. In Kotor, everyone gets called to bat, in Kotor2 I never use any of the droids and anyone who can't be a jedi becomes a liability to the group. If Kotor3 ever gets made, they're gonna have to go back to Kotor's idea of party members.
  19. Revan's gender is the player's own business, so is Revan's alignement. Some might think Revan is a guardian because he/she's a military genius. But I really think Revan is a consular. The exile's gender and alignement is also the player's business, but I think he/she really is a guardian, it just fits the description, and Bao-Dur's account. I did play the exile as a consular though, I never finished the game as anything else.
  20. Oh well, thanks
  21. This is about Kotor, so I'd understand if it gets moved. I'm on the rakata world right now and I'm about to enter the temple but before that I spoke to the One who gave me the mission to go and kill the elders. Upon arriving at the elder enclave, I spoke to scientists and historians there who said they'd like to have peace with the One. To gain entry to the temple, I must rescue the elder's captured scout from the savages. Going back to the savages enclave after that is enough to turn them all hostile, is there no way to avoid this ? I've been through this part of the game before, but like this time, I'm unable to reach an understanding between the tribes. I wonder, is there some twist in dialog or something that could allow me to not have to decimate one of the villages ? In my game, the savages usually end up getting slaughtered. Is there even a way to open negociations between the 2 ?
  22. I gave it to Zaalbar, but you make a good point, it is one badass blade, even better then Baka's blade. About what I mentionned before, forget Jurgan Kalta's assault rifle for HK, Suvam's Baragwin weapon X is better, and it looks cooler, the only thing you really need from Dantoine is Kassus Fett's heavy armor.
  23. To you I deliver a piece of advice, don't wait, start playing. Trust me, no bug in this game makes a patch mandatory. I'm playing Kotor1 atm, and don't let anyone here say that Kotor1 had less bugs then Kotor2. Kotor1 is actually capable of crashing your PC, something that, try as it might Kotor2 cannot achieve.
  24. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> On that note.... some of you may enjoy this not for the easily offended. then again if you read this far through the thread you can't be How to win any argument over the internet " <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's uncanny how the people who do argue right sound exactly like Gamorreans
  25. A short lightsaber gives you 1 extra attack ?
