  1. I played a little more last night and really enjoyed the experience however I ran into a problem in that I cannot find a lockpick for Tryvig's tower. I took the Ogre's word about the missing girl (still had to fight the idiot) and I went back to confront Tryvig which sparked a fight between my party and him and his assistant (which was actually tougher than you'd think). I killed them and now I spot a room with a basement beyond the room I confronted him in. I suspect the missing girl is in that cellar and has been all along (not asking for the truth here). But I also suspect, haha, that I just killed the one guy capable of selling me a lockpick especially as no one else in town is selling one! Any suggestions?
  2. There are so many of them I've been trying to work them all into fights but yeah I love some of their spells and Dire Blessing did work like a charm on that Ogre!
  3. I'd love to see that, but I'll understand if they don't do it. Same here. It would be great if they felt they could pop in and at least acknowledge that they've noted suggestions/concerns but having seen developers just get bombed by posts and comments when that happens on other gaming forums I can understand why they might prefer to just quietly read and digest our discussions and then internally debate them in their own meetings. I am certain they've noted everything or there wasn't a point in putting out a beta. I can say that when I posted in a bug thread last night I got a response from a developer within 5 mins of posting so they are around and right now they do need to be in the bug threads a bit more.
  4. Outside Dyrford there are a lot of combat encounters. No backpacks. I haven't spent enough time in Dyrford to note the full routines yet. During the day it was very active with a lot of conversations and activity. No stockade however there are a few troops/guards. It's an agrarian area by the looks of things. But as soon as you leave the town you load to another zone so it's not exactly "open world" where you can find a farm and run by some travelers or at least I have not seen that yet. I arrived in town, took a quest, and fast traveled to another zone to work on that and it's there I found a lot of fights with creatures.
  5. It's got a lot of promise I think and the quests, world, races, dialogues, music are already pretty well done and immersive but the combat is a major issue right now. It's too fast and it's hard to tell what exactly is happening without pausing often (very often). The models are very nice but there still needs to be some work to make them distinct against game backgrounds. It's as someone else already stated "beta-y."
  6. Ok when I go back in tomorrow I'll see if I somehow switched the character that the quests were given to and see if switching back works. But quests should load no matter which party member is selected so that is indeed a bug.
  7. I just had all my quests and the notes for them disappear from my journal. Kind of wonky this beta. Hope they get all of this sorted in a patch soon.
  8. I don't know whether this is exactly what you're talking about but I just opened the game up about thirty minutes ago to find it loading an old save instead of the recent one and then once I'd gotten that sorted and finished slaughtering the spiders in the cave I headed back to town to see if I could get some supplies and when there I pressed the J key for my journal to discover all my quests and notes from the previous night had vanished!! Now I have no idea where to go next as all the notes that were there yesterday are gone. Is this what you mean by objectives tab resetting cause if so then I am experiencing that as well!
  9. That was something I was initially surprised to see was in this game and I am keen to try them out. You usually don't think of firearms suiting this sort of thing but hey this sort of boldness is to be admired!
  10. Yes for older men and women types and portraits and for more body types. Playing an old and experienced character can be a great deal of fun. I've chosen a silver haired gent for Divinity: OS a few times.
  11. I really liked the character creation and the descriptions of everything. I ended up going with Moon Godlike but I know I will want to try everything like a kid in a candy store. I got the sense of a really big world with a lot of scope and I want more! I liked the dialogue options and it was very well presented. The music is outstanding. Just really outstanding!
  12. Played for about 90 mins yesterday after the download and I have some initial impressions I'll share. The caveat here is that these are first impressions and based on how I progress with the beta may change. The good: I can already tell that this game will give us hours of quests and choices which is a VERY GOOD THING. The dialogue with npc's in the game is outstanding and I really enjoyed it. The opening character creation menu is stellar. The explanations of things are clear and to the point and there are a lot of choices which I really like. The diversity of types is also very much appreciated and I chose to play as a Moon Godlike, Female Elf, (I am male but I don't play these games to play:me), Paladin. I loved the way my char looked and it's in this set up that the chars look best in the game. The not so good: In game the characters look rather blurred and indistinct against the lusher backdrop. I found the grasslands stood out better than my characters! This became a real problem in combat. It was hard to tell in the fights against stone beetles and spiders if I was actually making any hits with the tiny blurry swords and axes! I could see the beetle flip over and then die so clearly I was doing something right! The best fight was with the Ogre. In that cave background it was a little easier to see the hits being made but still not perfect. I made sure in these fights to pause often so that I could check every characters skills and try them out. There are some great traits or skills each class has (consider this part of the above's "The good"). Problem is the little boxes for them are just a little too small for my tastes. They could be enlarged a bit. I will play a little more throughout the week and my impressions may change as I grow more acclimated to the game however I have a feeling that my objections will probably remain in place. However I think this is going to be a very good game and it will certainly offer a lot of adventure and replay value especially with all of the choices that are offered and I cannot stress enough how important that is to me because in the end what I am really looking for in a game like this is a lot of adventure, choices, and replayability!
  13. Well this is very barebones I suspect and I wonder if they will include a tutorial that will explain party movement a little better? That said the pathfinding issue you mention is legit as I noticed that as well on my play-thru just now.
  14. Heart beating rapidly. However thanks for the news!
  15. Gee, I hope it's soon. I happen to be off work this morning and it's almost 9am on the east coast of the US so...soonish?
  16. I did the same thing. Haven't bought the expansion yet (kinda baffles me why that is offered before the main game is even out) but I did by the beta access and I rationalized it in that they will not give me any part of the game that includes the main campaign. In the meantime I can test for bugs and other issues (I did the same for D:OS) and learn a bit about how the combat works and just get a feel for the game without having the main plot spoiled. With D:OS even with just one area given to us in early access I still had an idea of where it was all heading. I don't think that will be the case here. But even with an idea of where D:OS was heading from early access I've still logged an additional 100 hours since release so I don't think people should be overly concerned here.
  17. I was going to suggest that he'd attended Obsidian's Night School course in English as a secondary language but "O-gremmars" sounds about right! I suppose if they'd given him a less than solid English grammar and spelling you'd have someone complain that the writing "is poor." Thanks for the welcomes! Glad to be aboard!
  18. The gamescon footage pushed me to back this game. I've been lurking for a few months just watching this game. Looks amazing so far so I had to jump in yesterday. Didn't see an introductions thread so I'll just wave and say hello here!
