  1. Yeah from the reviews I read on Amazon it added nothing to the story but a few sparse background details. Out of all six novelizations the only one that worked well was Revenge of the Sith. It really fleshed out the story. It used a 2nd person omnipotent viewpoint really well and that is such a clunky storytelling method the fact it was done well is saying something. The rest were little more than re-written screenplays which is what Force Awakens sounds like.
  2. Wrong choice then!
  3. Why, are you afraid of the world where US and Russia could share interests? Not at all. Except Putin views the US as an adversary rather than a partner so if we wants something perhaps it's because it's to our detriment rather than our good. Gorbachev wanted Mondale & Dukakis to win after all.
  4. So the consensus seems to be good but not great?
  5. I haven't seen it. Probably won't until the DVD comes out. I remember when Phantom Menace came out everyone loved it at first because it was Star Wars and the first Star Wars in 15 years. It was on the second watching the folks realized it sucked. Is that going to happen on this one? It seems like the initial watch is gushing praise but as people think about what they saw the warts become visible?
  6. Almost to the half way point, 33 games in and the Cats are 17-12-4, just 5 points out of first. But the best part is they are just a fun team to watch.
  7. If Putin likes him there is another reason not to vote for him
  8. And of course this wouldn't happen on a balmy summer night. It happens on a Colorado winter night.
  9. I woke up a little hung over, and saw my computer was on ebay. I was a little worried beacuse there is no impulse buying like drunken impulse buying. I didn't remember buying anything and fortunately... I didn't. Apparently was looking at 80's movies on blu-ray though.
  10. I've pointedly ignored all the debates up to now. But I watched the democrat debate tonight. Hillary Clinton did a great job sounding confident while saying absolutely nothing. Bernie Sanders displayed a shocking lack of knowledge on economics. His idea to pay for free healthcare and educations for all is to tax capital gains, stock trades and a value added tax (basically a consumption tax for businesses). That's great, so we'll have a lot of college educated folks with great health and no jobs because they were all taxed out of existence. He seems to think capital gains taxes won't hurt the middle class but does he not understand the sale of homes and real assets that most middle class folks have are capital gains? And he does not seem to understand who ultimately pays for any tax on business; the consumer. And the idea of a $15 minimum wage sounds great but how many workers will McDonalds need when no one wants to pay $20 for a f-----g hamburger? There was another guy on that stage, O'Malley something. He squeaked like a mouse and talked about some far away fantasy land called Maryland a lot but didn't add much to the conversation. The only thing that was said that I completely agree with was from Sanders when he said we needed to re-enact Glass-Stengal. 100% correct. The day that Bill Clinton signed the Gramm-Leach-Biley Act and repealed that law is the day we forgot the lessons of 1929 and set into motion the events of 2006-2008.
  11. GD I know you take politics seriously but lets be realistic ....Clinton will win Don't you think you should start to get use to respect her ...I mean if she is president. I assume you guys respect the office? I would be also frustrated by Trump...but he is more a symptom of the Republicans failure to install real confidence. Lets not blame the Democrats for having a logical structure and appeal. I have said this before but the Republicans have almost lost there identity And yes they need to stop offending minorities and coming across so conservative....it can't be that hard ? I've made my opinion of Hillary Clinton abundantly clear. And I fail to see how the republicans being "conservative" should offend minorities. Truth to tell I fail to see any conservative republicans at all. The "republican" house and "republican" senate just passed a big government disaster of a budget that gives the President everything he's ever dreamed of and more. They fully funded every bad idea he's had for two years. If both political parties are bound and determined to spend the United States into insolvency one just faster than the other, then the outcomes of elections are meaningless. If you want my $.02 it's past time we took a hard look at secession. All I can do is protect my financial assets, minimize my tax exposure and make the land I own as productive as possible so if needs be I can provide for myself. And ensure I al well armed and well prepared should the worse come to worst. Of course you must realize I sympathize with you and others and do always read what you say. I am a white, male and I do believe we need to concerned of real threats which come surreptitiously through various mediums....so yes there are agendas against us. I accept that but Clinton isn't one of the, And you know you can overreact or maybe its better to say you sometimes need to clear your mind..like the last time you bought all that gold and went to that game park with the dogs But if I can try to be constructive, the Republicans have got to start asking another series of question " what do we stand for? What intrinsically do we offer? What will we not accept in our name " You cannot let a guy like Trump run rampant...I know its easy for me to make suggestions from South Africa but I refuse to believe with all this intelligence and experience Trump is the only divisive candidate And also GD this whole " conservative" values needs to be re-looked at if the result is a candidate who just offends people. This is not an attack on your religion or our race, why do you feel you need to follow someone who is religious? I watched the whole Republican debate, as in the whole thing. There are good candidates like Rubio and Bush. But the thought of Tennessee seceding....you can't mean that. Imagine not being able to sing the US anthem Who are the Republicans? That really is the question. Every election they present themselves as the party of limited government and fiscal responsibility. Then once they get elected they act like anything but. I've said this a number of times but the only thing I hate more than the Republicans are the Democrats. But I will hand it to the Dems on one thing. They are honest about their intentions. They do not value freedom, or individual liberty, or private property, or Federalism and they do not pretend that their aim is anything other than to take all these things away in the name of a "fair" and "just" society where they control everything and everyone.
  12. Correct. The extreme lefties vote for Sanders, the rest of the party of big government and no freedom votes for Clinton and the republican nominee wins. It happened in 2000. If Al Gore had gotten just 535 of the 93000+ votes that went to Ralph Nader in Florida he would have become the 43rd President.
  13. I know what you're trying to do here No doubt. You are a smart dude. But it wouldn't take a Machiavelli to figure it out. Besides, you don't want to see her in office either right?

  15. I think Bernie should tell the DNC to go f--k themselves and mount a 3rd party run. The DNC is only going to permit Hillary to win so he's wasting his time anyway. Run as an independent Bernie, it's the best thing you can do for your country!
  16. Well it has passed. This big government monstrosity is a fact of life now.
  17. I guess it all depends on your point of view,
  18. This is awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hnBp7x2QAE
  19. After the slaughter of childern there was strict lightsaber control. Everone who had lightsabers was hunted down until only the government had lightsabers. You know what happened next? The senate was disabanded, an evil dictator seized control of the galaxy and tyranny ensued. Planets were destroyed, princesses captured. And it all came crashing down as soon as private citizens had lightsabers again!
  20. You are going to find that many of the truths we cling to depend greatly on your point of view
  21. Watching the Bucs/Rams game now. Those uniforms look.... ridiculous. It looks like the ketchup bottles vs. the mustard bottles out there.
  22. I'd assumed it to be a reference to Kirk having to use sulfer and other elements to make blackpowder and with diamonds and a bamboo like plant create a makeshift gun in order to shoot the Gorn in ARENA season one, episode 18 of the original series. Did I assume wrong? Correct Sir! My faith in you is restored!
  23. Christmas just stops being fun at a certain age. I don't have a singe decoration out at my place.
