  1. Watched “blood red sky” on Netflix last night. I’ll summit up for you, vampires on an airplane. It wasn’t bad though. I found the English voice dubbing a little annoying. I wish they would just put it in German with subtitles. It was a German movie.
  2. I guess now he can go back to being a sports broadcaster, which I thought he was pretty good at, and being a full-time philanthropist, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur. To say nothing of the fact he’s married to miss universe so whatever happens next I don’t think his life will suck. I’ve got nothing against the guy. I can’t say I was terribly invested in his success though. If he made it good for him if not well good try. I wonder, if his devout Christianity would’ve been received with such open hostility if he was a devout Muslim? I suspect everybody who was down on him for it would’ve been kissing his ass then. I guess some things it’s just cool to hate. It sounds stupid because it is stupid. But people are stupid.
  3. So Tim Tebow has been shown the door by the Jaguars. What he was trying to do was virtually impossible so the outcome shouldn’t have come as a surprise. A 34-year-old guy who has not played a down a football in five years trying to make it in a position he had never played before. The thing that puzzles me is why does his failure seem to make everybody so happy? I really have never understood the animus against that guy.
  4. LOL, it doesn’t matter. Either way the answer is the same: yes.
  5. Not surprised at all. Savages will be savage.
  6. Meet the new Taliban. Same as the old Taliban.
  7. CNN documentary on Preppers coming I heard about this a while back. Figured it would be a total hatchet job. Maybe not.
  8. Do you know what a good day is? When the Tampa Bay Rays win and the Boston Red Sox lose twice!
  9. So you like the Field of Dreams game and movie??? OK, let's make a new TV series based on it. Just like that they went too far. Maybe it won't suck. Not how I'm betting, but maybe.
  10. Biden’s comments were about what I expected. What else could he say? You can go back in time and there is no other way to unf—k this up. From now on if an enemy needs to be destroyed (and for Gods sake you had better be freaking sure that’s the way to go) then just do it and get out. Leave the Marshall plan where it belongs: history books.
  11. I love how the first thing that pops up as adults only. Makes it sound like some kind of a kinky swinger place. Looks nice though.
  12. In Dyersburg today. Just finished a closing on that property I sold upstate in Realfoot Slough. So anyway Janet, my lawyer, came with me. I asked her to because this is a somewhat complicated sale because of some zoning issues and there are three parties involved. The property I’m selling does not have utility or hard road access. Anyway, afterwards I offered to take her to lunch. It was kind of awkward because I think she thought I was hitting on her. I wasn’t. Don’t get me wrong she is definitely my type. Early 40s, professional, divorced, pretty but not beautiful. But I have no desire to start any kind of personal relationship with someone I do business with. I don’t know if she was just being defensive, or even worse she was disappointed when she found out I wasn’t, or I just have no ability to read people. I think it’s probably that last one. Definitely not one of my super powers.
  13. Nice! Where did you go?
  14. Oh that plane was on its way to Rammstein in Germany. Even if they had held on for the takeoff once it went over 10,000 feet the air would be too thin to breathe. And even if they could it would be too cold not to end up with frostbite. The secretary of state got into a snit the other day when a reporter compare this to the evacuation of Saigon in 1975. It’s a lot like that though.
  15. You are right especially about that last part. In retrospect the final outcome was never in doubt. They tried to create a functioning western style country out of a place that has never been a functioning country. Those people do not identify by nebulous concepts like nationality. They identify with family and “tribe”. It would’ve been far better to just blast the hell out of the Taliban government and give the country back to the individual tribes as regional governments. Hubris. Failure to learn the lessons of the British, the Soviets, and the Barakazi.
  16. Trump  Demands Biden Resign for Afghanistan withdrawal as RNC deletes page supporting Trumps planned Afghanistan Withdrawal There are naught but fools and villains here.
  17. LOL, it’s been what three days since I last took a rhetorical whipping? Four? Actually that is the exact kind of statement that would infuriate Gromnir because it’s fairly absolute even if it isn’t completely wrong. let me tell you a little secret about him. He probably figures I take a good point and go way too far with it. And he wouldn’t be wrong. But I also think he agrees with me in principle a lot more than he lets on.
  18. Joe Biden is a feckless idiot. And he has surrounded himself by more of the like. And since the collapse of Afghanistan was absolutely inevitable because we cannot and will not stay there forever this really is not his fault. But it happened on his watch and he will get blamed and I could not care less he’s unfairly judged. F—k him. The Executive governance of the United States has gone from a corrupted would be autocrat to a doddering and feckless idiot. But we get the government we deserve. I have to say cutting the cord and going completely off grid sounds more appealing with every day.
  19. Just heard on BBC World Radio the Taliban has entered Kabul. Also they are reporting stories of mass executions in the regional capitals. The Afghan President and most of the government have fled. All those lives lost, billions of tax dollars spent rebuilding. All for nothing. But if we left 15 years ago or 15 years from now the outcome is the same. Removing the Taliban in 2002 was necessary. They were complicit in 9-11 because they protected the perpetrators. Staying was stupid. And now stupid has led us to where it always does. Failure.
  20. Bithorn Stadium in PR definitely qualifies as a story. A lot of big names have played there in the international league and the Puerto Rican winter league. It was the Home Stadium for the Montreal expos for a few months well renovations were being done on Olympic stadium. Roberto Clemente hit a home run there that left the stadium all together. The MLB does put a regular season game there on a semi regular basis. Just going from memory I think the last one was two years ago. 2018f I think. They had a series in Monterey in Mexico in the early 2000s. Arizona versus San Diego if I remember correctly. I know they don’t want to play it in Mexico City. you think the balls fly out of Coors Field? Mexico City is another 2000 foot above that. Are used to play the opening series of the season in Japan. Although it’s been a pretty good while since they did that. I think the reason it stopped is the NPB changed the started their season to mid March. The KBO and CPB are both extremely popular in their respective countries. And I can’t recall off the top of my head of the MLB game has ever been played in either South Korea or Taiwan. It would be cool to see that.
  21. No, the Kurds wanted north part of Iraq as an autonomous Kurdish state. Turkey Would not tolerate that because of the number of ethnic Kurds in eastern turkey freedom they were afraid down the road and autonomous Curtis homeland with annex part of turkey. Maybe it would have. Maybe not. But the one thing the US could have done is not allowed the Kurds in Syria to be killed by the Turks after pulling out. And we didn’t. Involving ourselves in Syria was a mistake. Yes it was a humanitarian crisis. Yes people are being killed and brutalized by the thousands. There’s nothing we can do about it.
  22. Maybe Gromnir has a point. It was special because it was rare. But there are numerous historic ball parks throughout the land. I think it would go along way to growing the game if the MLB would schedule at least one game in a stadium like that every season. If not always the same one. For example the Pittsburgh Crawford’s Negro league team their home ballpark is still around and hosts the Pennsylvania Little League tournament. It would be cool to see a game played there wearing the Crawford‘s uniforms versus the Kansas City monarchs for example. last year MLB eviscerated minor-league baseball. Over 40 clubs we’re dissolved or became independent and three whole leagues were disbanded. A lot of small towns lost pro baseball probably forever. The game grows when people have access to it. And baseball hasn’t been growing much for a long time. Quite the opposite actually. Staging events like this in historic locations around the country every year might do a bit to help reverse that.
