  1. Great news! Are you saying that I have to use the save before I enter the battery for the first time or are any of the saves after that point good, such as the one right before the white forge battle? It will not be the most horrible thing in the world if I have to do the battery over again but obviously it would be nice also to not have to do it over completely. If you are at liberty at all to say, I would be interested in hearing about what the problem was at least in layman's terms. Thanks for all your help! Also, please allow me to pitch you this suggestion, too: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84501-question-about-petsrequest/?do=findComment&comment=1777753
  2. Wow. Glad I've been so zealous about saving, even if it means I have a ton of files. If you mean the door to the battery itself, yes - I have a save right before I tried opening it. That's here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B11c0N5NsFfOMERBdm1VQ0Z5X00 Just in case it helps, I've also included a save that I am pretty sure is post-Claban Rilag but before I went to Hadret House to kick off the "get approval to go the hearing" portion of Act II. This would also be before I opened the door to the battery. https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B11c0N5NsFfOQzhWT0JvcGtRSzA Also, I am on a different computer from last time and used WinRAR to zip the files. That shouldn't be an issue, but just in case you have any problems trying to get the zips to open. Finally, one last thing. Even though it sounds like the bug is tied into the White March somehow, I did want to make sure that you saw this earlier post (http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84549-one-quest-too-many-ie-crucible-knightsdozens/?do=findComment&comment=1778254) about another potential issue. I don't know how or why it would connect, but just in case.
  3. Another question I meant to bring up was item storage. Are there only specific places you can store items? I ask because I spent some time in the Caed Nua library organizing all the books I picked up and then when I went back a while later, the room had reset and they were all gone. I wasn't sure if that's always the case or it is tied into the bugs my game is suffering from (detailed here: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/84708-the-great-reset/). Any insight is welcome.
  4. I wrote a similar response yesterday in another Stronghold-themed post, but I'll restate it here. Caed Nua is one of those places where the budget seams can be more obviously seen. Despite the successful Kickstarter, the figure was still startlingly low for making a game of that scale and complexity. Obsidian pulled it off, but not surprisingly some areas were not as fleshed out as they or we might have liked. There are myriad different ways any of us could look at Caed Nua and imagine improvements large and small. To the ideas above, you could also add stuff like shows at the amphitheater, some kind of book-themed quest for the library, more variety in types of encounters, more of the keep to explore, develop, and use, etc. When they announce Pillars of Eternity 2, I fully intend to create a "Stronghold 2.0" post where we can place all our suggestions! As for Caed Nua, I think Obsidian did an admirable job of doing the best they could for launch and then spending the last year developing extra content that works within the framework of what is already there. They probably couldn't do anything too revolutionary because of how everything was programmed, but they did do a bit. I played the game at launch and am replaying it now, and the keep is definitely a more engaging place than it was at launch. So don't be too quick to bury the stronghold or suggest a sequel would be better without it. Just as we have our list of ways they'd make the keep better, I'm sure Obsidian has their own, too. I'm looking forward to seeing how they iterate on the concept moving forward (and I have no doubt they will incorporate the best of our suggestions).
  5. Yes. It was a problem with the 3.0 patch, but should have been fixed (and was for mine) in the 3.1 patch. Make sure that your game is up to date.
  6. I never got too disappointed about the stronghold. It was one of those areas of the game, like the abundance of houses that you couldn't enter in Defiance Bay, where you could more obviously see the budget limitations. I am thrilled that the game's success allowed them to expand and experiment with the stronghold, and I expected bigger and better things for PoE 2. My lone regret: I always wanted the ability to go chill at the top of the Caed Nua towers and check out the canopied forests below.
  7. It sounds like I've hit upon at least a couple of bugs that other people have gotten, but I haven't seen others get the major reset like I have. I'm curious if you have been able to replicate the bug and, if so, identify the trouble spot(s). I don't envy you the task, so thanks again!
  8. I'm indifferent about the feature, but I voted "yes, with quest line" simply because if there is one, I would like to see it fully fleshed out and not just "there."
  9. Ok, here's a save file right before the final battle in the Foundry: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B11c0N5NsFfON3BQalJQbjVyQlU
  10. I am pretty sure I have a save right before I did the White Forge Battle. Let me take a look. And I *think* the Hadret House save is to let her know the third/final Leaden Key item, but it might be one where I tell her that I have an invite for the hearing. Either way, it's at the tail end of that quest, not the beginning. At least I'm pretty sure that's the case! I may have an earlier one. Let me know if that's what you need. Will edit once I've hopefully found the save file that you are looking for. EDIT: Carelessly made a new post in hurried effort to get the link out! :-D Also, to clarify my timeline: - Got the Hermit of Hadret House up to having an invite for the hearing. - Went off and finished The White March, first returning to Stalwart and then Caed Nua (as described in the OP). - Then went to First Fires and attended the hearing, which reminds me of another reset bug - as I approached Hadret House post-assassination, right outside there I got the flashback again about the person talking with Thaos about having self-doubt and wanting to leave the order. - After beginning Act III, returned to Caed Nua to switch out characters and then headed to the Gorge (as described above).
  11. Games are complex things, and this is especially true of reactive RPGs like Pillars of Eternity. There is a reason why the two Baldur's Gate games are considered all-time classics, yet modding communities and Beamdog are still fixing myriad issues fifteen+ years later. In this case, you may be generating the exact bug, but for entirely different reasons than another user. By looking at your save file, they can hopefully recreate and identify your problem, isolate the issue, and address it for you and others. Or you could just rant and scream.
  12. Hey (you bunch of ingenious gamers) This is awesome. Bringing this up. I got your backs -Sking Sking, kind of curious: any feedback from devs on the idea? )
  13. Some combination of finishing The White March 1 and Act II has done something of a GRAND RESET of my game. The set-up: the only Act II item left on my plate was the Duc's hearing. I took the opportunity to finish up White March Part 1. I immediately noticed a problem upon exiting Durgan's Battery post-completion: the map had basically reset itself as had elements of Stalwart Village. I was able to interact with people who behaved like I had won the day, but at the same time other events had reset like the dwarf and the thieves posing as priests and a group of ogres menacing the west edge of town. Returning to Caed Nua revealed the angry villagers (though they disappeared after a couple of visits) and the messenger beckoning me to meet the Marshal in the inn (he's still hanging around). This morning, I discovered that the rabbit hole was deeper than I thought. First, I discovered that Stormwall Gorge had partially reset, fog of war and all, though the temple was now accessible and the gorge drained. Figuring that I wasn't alone in the world on this, I decided to kill some time before another patch by banging out some levels of the Endless Paths. When I got down to level 8, I discovered once again that the entire level had reset, complete with vampire overlord. Ack! At that point, there wasn't anything for me to do but write you and share my save file (just inside the Great Hall, where you can see the messenger bug for yourself). I also added a "before" save if that would help for comparison. Please let me know if you need anything else. Good luck! Save file (zipped) post-White March & Act 2: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B11c0N5NsFfObWVManczOEs2elE Save file (zipped) pre-finishing White March & Act 2: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B11c0N5NsFfOSVpGalpDWFVod2c
  14. I suspect that might be a bridge too far at this point for PoE 1, but we should remember it when it comes time for PoE 2!
  15. By taking on that first expedition from the Dozens, I ended up not being able to finish the Crucible Knights storyline. Using the instructions in post #95 on this thread: https://forums.obsid...-bay/?p=1672678 I made it so that I could complete the knight plotline. I still haven't done Bronze Beneath the Lake because I have no idea if doing it will glitch the game irreversibly. I am at a point where it would be good to know. Is it possible to get both the Bronze Beneath the Lake quest and Built to Last quest if I had gotten the latter first? Or do I just need to leave Bronze unresolved from now until I finish the game?
  16. Hey (you bunch of ingenious gamers) This is awesome. Bringing this up. I got your backs -Sking Just happened to be on checking on another point and received this. Great, great news! Also, Sking, if you run into Greg Kinneman around the Obsidian offices, please tell him that I say hello from the forums! )
  17. I don't think it would be too difficult, especially if you used the first floor of Brighthollow. Just make it part of the addition when you renovate the fountain.
  18. I suggested Brighthollow just because that is where all your people hang out, plus I figured it would be easier to throw in compared to outside which has all those special events attached to it. Plus the first floor of brighthollow could use a little livening up. I would be happy with either of course!
  19. I am still building up Caed Nua in my replay, but I was wondering - if it isn't already there, would it be possible for there to be a feature in the first floor of the estate where you could place the pets that you aren't using and they'd just wander about there? It's a bit lame just having them all in my inventory and I'd love to see them out and about all at once.
  20. That is hopeful news, at least in terms of it being a general problem and not a "I SNAFUed things problem." Thanks. On the other part of it, is there a way that I can remove the bronze beneath the lake quest or am I able to do it without screwing up the game?
  21. Just to add on a different scene: there's a confrontation earlier in that questline between you and his lieutenant at the inn in Defiance Bay. I paid her to walk away, so there was no combat. When I visited that place a few hours later, she and her cronies were there again, just standing there and you couldn't interact with them.
  22. Hey there, having a problem that I suspect may be related to a forum-suggested hotfix that I used. In the quest "Supply & Demand", I killed some thugs and got a journal prompt that perhaps something in their possession would clue me in to a larger problem. The issue here: I can get the "pick up" icon to appear over the loot, but it doesn't actually do anything when I click the button on that loot. Works fine elsewhere. This is tied into the Dozens, so my worry is that this is an unexpected side effect of the aforementioned hotfix. I have the quest "Bronze Beneath the Lake" in my active quests. I didn't realize that just accepting it precluded me from finishing the knight plotline, so I followed the instructions in post #95 on this thread: https://forums.obsidian.net/topic/72460-choosing-a-faction-in-defiance-bay/?p=1672678 in order to finish the knight plotline. I still haven't done Bronze Beneath the Lake because I have no idea if doing it will glitch the game irreversibly. I'm wondering now, also, if following the instructions listed above have impacted this quest. If there is a way to deactivate that quest, please let me know. That may fix other or potential issues. Any and all insight is welcome. Save file is a bit big for what I can submit here, but if you want to take a look, please just give me an email to send it to! Many thanks!
  23. I used the hotfix on the previous page so that, even thoguh I have bronze beneath the lake as a quest, I was able to complete the Crucible Knights storyline. I still have the Dozens quest in my log. Can I do the quest or will that glitch the game? If the latter, is there a way to get it out of my quest log?
  24. Considering the overarching plot, it's hard not to say cipher. I'd go for that simply because it involves you in the narrative on a whole other level. For a game like Pillars of Eternity, you should definitely want to approach it from a story standpoint more than a mechanical one.
  25. I have an old save right at the very beginning of the game. Can I use that to play through the game now with the 3.0 content or do I need to start a new game from scratch to get the benefits?
