You've got to be kidding me...
random evil guy replied to Orgophlax's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Why would this NOT be fixed?! How can a game be released with a known bug that does not allow the game to be played? (and yes the bug does exist. It happens like clockwork for me) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what do they mean by level? an area? like every time the computer has to "load" a new area...? -
The Influencing System...
random evil guy replied to Darth Jebus's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
i think it was just too much work. obsidian would have had to create several different conversation trees for each character, depending on their alignment. given a bit more time, maybe they could have fixed this... -
uh, thanks? i have no idea what you're talking/writing about, but i'll take your advice anyway...
-
edit:ah, fudge this. i'm not interested in wasting time on this... we'll never agree anyway.

lucky krauts! -
then deus ex 2 didnt have any bugs either, since i didnt come across any. in other words, flawed logic. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nice of you to admit, seeing as this is your own kind of logic... "so thats 50% of the copies of the games youve seen that have bugs, and that bug was a major one. yet you contend that its not one of the buggier games. id say a 50% failure rate is a pretty high percentage." besides, the claim was that BL was one of the buggiest games ever. i said no and provided one argument. the argument was far from flawless, but i it's not up to me to disprove the statement. if one claim BL is the buggiest game ever, it's up to them to prove it. not up to everyone else to disprove it. that's logic. that's how one debates. now run along...

so thats 50% of the copies of the games youve seen that have bugs, and that bug was a major one. yet you contend that its not one of the buggier games. id say a 50% failure rate is a pretty high percentage. *note: i know im using a small sample size, but since your original point about it not being buggy is because you didnt run in to them (ie. a small sample size), its just as valid* <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i'd say one glitch doesn't qualify the game as "one of the buggiest ever"... if it truly was, i'd expect everyone to experience a few major problems with it. like everyone i know did with deus ex 2 or cycling manager 3...
-
i'll put it like this: i didn't notice a single glitch or bug. a friend of mine didn't have that many problems as well. the only glitch he noticed(albeit a big one!) was the boat crash. he had to use the console to get back to LA(from the crazy christians mansion).

because youre the be all and end all authority on whether a game is buggy or not huh? <_< <{POST_SNAPBACK}> no, but if it is the "buggiest game ever" i'd expect at least one serious bug or glitch... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If you think KotOR 2 for the X-BOX was buggy, you've obviously never played the turn based RTS Superpower. First of all, the game wouldn't even run on Windows 2000 (A Patch had to address that issue...). Second, the game would crash after about 50 turns. Third, you wouldn't even need to download a trainer because there are soo many things that you can exploit (e.g. devoting 100% of your money to everything... that works.... right....). It was a game with a great layout and very sophisticated but obviously, there was no bug squashing. Even after 4 patches, it still has numerous bugs... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> huh? i thought we're discussing bloodlines here? which someone(don't remeber who) claimed to be the buggiest game ever. something i really can't fathm, seeing as i didn't encounter a single bug or glitch(at least that i noticed)... edit: got another tip for buggiest game ever. cycling manager 3. i think it needed something like 4-5 patches to work properly.

bollocks. i didn't have a single problem with BL. deus ex 2 is way buggier...

I'm not going to badmouth Obsidian (especially on their forums :D) but I am kind of disappointed. I thought that the PC version would have recieved a bit more attention and the bugs would have been addressed and fixed. I really thought that Obsidian which is composed of some of the best in the world would deliver a better product. In the end ofcourse, it was LucasArts that rushed them into speeding up the KotOR 2 development time so Obsidian can't be blamed 100%. I would have thought atleast that the developers would have looked at the bugs and fixed the problems in the PC version. I'm not going to go that far and say FABLE is better than KotOR 2 because thats the stupidest thing I've ever heard. I'll just say that I hope that Obsidian (if it develops K3) should spend more time debugging. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i thought bloodlines was damn good. a few minor bugs, but nothing serious. people are way too concerned with bug IMO. a few glitches here and there are basically irrelevant. it's all about story and "playabillity". throw in some decent graphics and you've got yourself a good game...

Look it from the bright side, KotOR 1 was virtually unplayable on my PC until patch 1.02 was released (It fixed the issue with memory-leaks) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> true, i had a lot of problems with the ai. my npc's were constantly blocking my path and a lot of times they didn't follow my revan. so sometimes i had to go look for them... nothing too bad from the review; i will definately pick it up the day it is released...

Your right that there was no real need for a whole new thread, but the thing is that with different countries come different delivery dates or possibly different release dates. So its understandable that someone might be confussed on the subject when they only see that the UK gets it on the 11th and not knowing for sure when their country will get it. Yeah so, when is it coming out here in Papua new Guinea? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> nobody cares...

bollocks; most gamers are inexperienced rpg players. kotor 1 was my first rpg ever and i struggled like crazy with my first build. the "governor" on taris was extremely difficult the first time i played the game. i would think a lot of other rookie gamers would feel the same way. bioware and obsidian has to take this into account; they make games for the masses. not the experienced rpg gamers... so what can be done? they could include a "extreme difficulty level", but that's basically it.

release date unrealistic?
random evil guy replied to iamthelorax's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
cool, but have you got any proof of that, i haven't seen anything. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've also pre-ordered mine from Amazon.co.uk and they are still estimating delivery for the 10th or 11th of this month. I also asked in Game and they said the 11th. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> all in all, us UK people should get it around 14th - 16th, due to the weekend. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> called my local game shop and they said they'll have it the 11th. ah, just one week and just in time for the weekend. -
i scored 7150; not bad, considering i was a bit tired and hungry at the time... not to mention my faulty mouse and the weather outside... bah.
-
ah, nice.

i take it you're the gamspy dude then...? when can we expect a full review?

nice read. i had similar problems with kotor 1, so this doesn't sound too bad.
