  1. I hope they stay in business long enough for Mysteries of Westgate to be released. Poor Ossian Studios, they don't get much luck, it seems.
  2. First Bioware looking for 'writers' for its MMO, and now this. Am I missing something? Have they spotted a way to have interesting stories in MMOs that no-one's ever managed before? I thought there were very good reasons why MMOs couldn't have strong NPC character development, stories and choices - due to the very nature of the beast...
  3. Sounds like a bunch of jerks, then, which is a shame, because the idea has potential if intelligently applied.
  4. Provided the calls were polite and didn't become abusive, I would see this sort of thing as performance art, and an important part of modern internet/electronic culture and art. I find flashmobs and that kind of thing very entertaining and positive as well - has anyone ever taken part in one?
  5. I suspect that the minority of UFOs that can't be explained by conventional means are probably vastly expensive and foolish military experiments too embarrassing for governments to reveal. Then again, who knows? I also suspect that if our government knew of alien life, they would have revealed it by now as a way of distracting attention away from their latest tax hike.
  6. Is it possible to educate our children that violence isn't the way to solve our problems at the same time that powerful states continue to use violence to (attempt to) solve their problems. Yes, I am talking about Iraq, and I know that doesn't apply directly to Finland, but Finnish youth have been witnesses to this approach as much as anyone. It's bad enough for those of us of age to sit through this discredited war, but what effect has it had on those whose formative years these have been?
  7. Not a movie, exactly, but a friend loaned me the DVD of Ghostwatch, a BBC TV special broadcast on Halloween in 1992 which terrified the nation, albeit briefly. I remembered being scared out of my wits, and fifteen years on it's still pretty frightening and extremely well-made.
  8. 'Success' in Iraq, when and if it comes, will bring a new set of problems. The surviving (i.e. most successful) extremist fighters will flee, many to their countries of origin. A large number are from Saudi Arabia, so we can look forward to attacks on foreigners and oil production in Saudi Arabia increasing, and general instability spreading throughout the Middle East. Good times.
  9. Suggestions about Kotor3 now go over in the Star Wars forum in this thread: http://forums.obsidianent.com/index.php?sh...5&start=435
  10. I don't think there's an evil-ending movie as a movie file. The endings (both good and evil) play out as a series of images handled as a cut-scene by the engine - the toolset can show you the dialogue and the images that are being called. It's in \Modules\3400_Merdelain and then the conversation file 3430_ending.
  11. Bean bags and floor cushions are affordable and socially-acceptable substitutes for chairs. A bamboo or grass mat laid on the floor is fine for putting your dinner on (this is how the Vietnamese eat). I find furniture spoils a room - I'd rather have the empty space and hear the echo.
  12. Welcome. Wanna play?
  13. Don't forget Mysteries of Westgate, due out soon. I hope any future expansions (from Obsidian or anyone else) don't add more levels and don't attempt to continue with the shard-bearer as PC. His/Her story is, I think, finished at the end of MotB. Let's start with someone new.
  14. Looks pretty good to me. Does everyone agree we're committed to a domination victory strategy now? If so, I guess Egypt is the next logical target, though the Koreans might help them (depending on their relationship with each other).
  15. I'm sure the entire forum community would like to congratulate you on this truly momentous day.
  16. It was Prince Philip on the grassy knoll with the revolver! A majority of my students firmly believe that Diana was executed by the British establishment because she was carrying Dodi's child which would have put a Muslim on the British throne. I have tried to point out the minor flaws in this theory, but to little avail.
  17. This one's not bad either.
  18. Wow! Bush is so unpopular now he has to hang out with the French president. More seriously, the best you can hope on such occasions is that amidst the flattery, the speaker gently remind the audience of the areas where they could improve. Sarkozy did this, so he gets a cautious thumbs-up from me.
  19. Yes. I notice they've left a gap between the releases of episodes one and two of the new season, presumably so they can get and use the feedback in time for the second episode. They clearly find it very useful.
  20. That was one of the better episodes from season one. They must be very confident that season two episode one will measure up. In any case, if you haven't played this, download it now!
  21. The Arcanum soundtrack (for strings) is a favourite of mine and fitted the atmosphere of the game perfectly. Quest for Glory IV and V both had excellent music. I particularly recommend the necrotaur battle music from QfGIV and the dryad dance from QfGV. Also very good is Civilization IV, for the soundtrack as a whole but especially for the modern era and for Baba Yetu.
  22. You and/or Tale, I think.
  23. Sam & Max Season 2 - only four days to go!
  24. I love it when they do that: "Fear the wrath of my axeman and two catapults!!!" Is razing Akkad really the way to go? Are we planning to put another city where Nippur used to be? I suppose another civ would, if we didn't. Have we placed our Forbidden City yet? What would be a good location for that, given that we seem to be expanding at an alarming rate?
  25. So who's next then? *drums fingers impatiently*
