Personally, i think the whole piracy-issue is overblown. If one is reading the boards at warez-communities, every game-release has it's own poll if it's buyable or not. Those games who get high rating, tend to sell good aswell(HL2, Halo 2 and so on). Also, games like RPG's, already have their hardcore fanbase that buys the games no matter what. And as third argument, most games that are pirated are intentionally left with the multiplayer part untouched, as a carrot for those who liked the single player campaign. (=You have to buy the game if you want to play online) The best way to tackle piracy, IMO, is to give the consumer more options like they've done with movie-industry: Designing the cases to look like they're actually worth something, bonus material, extras, unlockable content and so on.

The end is the beginning is the end.
Meshugger replied to Darth Jebus's topic in Computer and Console
Yep, but it will be a while before i start investing in an HDTV. I would never buy one for a console though, i might reconsider when all broadcasts are in HDTV(a 27" costs a whopping 1099 -
Nah, that would certainly not work. But i would mind a another game set in the Planescape universe, with a small cameo of the nameless one, slaughtering Baatetzus in the lower planes

Atleast in Finland, the enthusiasm has been nil, none, nada. 2 finish gaming sites are having dates for the release, but that's it. No commercials on TV, no ads in the paper or anything. Several of my friends aren't even aware of it being released this year. Actually, one of them bought a PS2 yesterday. -
If Obsidian will make KotOR3, you will purchase it
Meshugger replied to Luke77's topic in Computer and Console
Except for Fallout. -
I recently finished the game as well, it's a true gem in the history of gaming. Too bad there's no more support for Planescape, so there will be no more games set in Planescape, let alone a sequel to Torment.

Chocobo Song.

There are no universal (i.e., everyone experiences them) gamestopping bugs with the official 1.2 patch. There are a couple that a significant minority seem to encounter, but it is entirely possible to play through the game using only the official patch without encountering any gamestopping bugs at all. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> If true, then i have to give it another try.

Even if Bioware would make it(highly unlikely), i would buy it. If Obsidian would do it with MCA as lead designer, then i would buy it in a heartbeat. -
He's after the women, i'm after the ladies
-
I'm here because of the ladies Not really, but someone had to say it. I came here because of KotOR II.

The trailer, if anything, looked a bit batman-ish. But i agree on the soundtrack, i'm glad they kept the song "Fortress of Solitude" in the new movie, i really gave me some nice nostalgic goosebumps of joy

What the.....? Hahahaha.

Bloodlines was a great RPG with great story, voiceacting and dialogue. Too bad there was atleast one gamestopping bug and the combat was horrid.

In case your thinking of buying PD0 on launch.
Meshugger replied to ShadowPaladin V1.0's topic in Computer and Console
On the other hand, is this the first time they've been under such time-constraint? -

Heh, hopefully there's no gamestopping bug in it. No matter, since i will not get the Xbox360 at launch. -
I agree with Paladin here. Those who bought a 51" HDTV in order to play PGR 3 at 720p will not be pleased.

Most difficult game you have ever played
Meshugger replied to kumquatq3's topic in Computer and Console
+1 That game required serious skill. -
Yup, i finished it yesterday. Awesome game, should be recommended to anyone, regardless they've played an RPG or not before. At the end, my character had the following stats: STR: 14 DEX 10 CON: 12 INT: 18 WIS: 24 CHA: 20 Lawful Good, apparantly i got the best ending Now, further on with the review. - Story Should be no suprise if i tell you it's the best ever in a computer/console game. The dialogue, the writing, the whole idea of mortality and its influence on the nature of man. Superb, excellent, magnificent. - Setting Very interesting and it suits the story well IMO, since i find the regular DnD world of dwarfes, elves and trolls to be boring. How can a world divided into different planes NOT be interesting? A tour around Sigil meeting one wacky character after the other really pushed the player forward. - Characters A wise-cracking skull, a succubi that's bored with sex, a floating mage which is constantly on fire and so on. They all had their different reasons on why they joined the Nameless One's quest for his identity, filled with different banters against you and against one another. - Combat Err, not so good. Very clunky indeed, but it wasn't so bad that it stopped me from playing though. Now i understand why no one praises this game for its combat though - Soundtrack Very moody, with Annah's and Deionarra's theme standing out as classics. Otherwise, the rest of the songs where ok, but forgettable. - Graphics Pretty good, considering it's an RPG from 1999. Again, it certainly didn't stop me from finishing it. - Artwork Very good. It really captured the whole grim feel planescape in terms of symbols, places(ravel maze, pillar of skulls, Sigil) and overall feel of how the planes should look like. (I missed the higher planes though). - Overall - Best RPG ever? YES! - Best story ever? YES! - Best combat/gameplay ever? Nope. - Best GAME ever? Haven't decided yet, definately in my top 3. P.S. I wish to thank Chris Avellone for writing and story. Excellent work.

Brian D. Lawson interview about NWN 2 and stuff
Meshugger replied to kirottu's topic in Computer and Console
I want NWN2 to give the player the option on either ending the game as the valiant savior/destroyer of worlds or ending as a local drunk in the gutter. Possible scenario: The end-boss is sitting in his floating castle, having the world at its grip. The main character can choose between: 1) Fight valiantly and save the world, and become crowned as the new king. The End. 2) Fight ferociously and slay everything, and become the new emperor of torment. The End. 3) Conspire some morons to do the dirty work, leaving you taking all the credit for their work. (Works both for good/evil). The End. 4) Ignore everything, get drunk and see some other guy get crowned as king/emperor. You puke on your own pants in the gutter and laugh at yourself and your party-members leave you. The End. -
Note to oneself: Don't ever mention JE in any thread at the Obsidian boards.

Good, the Jade Empire world has a great potential for long, epic stories. Seriously.

Since i've almost finished Planescape: Torment, i crave for another RPG with a great story. Has anyone tried Fire Emblem? Is it worth 59.90
-
Will do What other games would you fine folk recommend, I dont really care what genre it is I pretty much like most. But I am keen on good gameplay, and a good story <{POST_SNAPBACK}> - If you want a great story and dialogue, then it's definately Planescape: Torment (eventhough i haven't finished it yet). - If you want great atmosphere and suspense, try System Shock 2. - If you want to try one of the best FPS that's out there, try Unreal 1 or Halo 1.
