  1. Thanks MC and the rest. While the girlfriend has already ordered it on the PS3, i would like to try it out on the PC. Bioware will get ca$h from multiple platforms from this household.
  2. Hey guys! I haven't bought it yet. Is it still awesome or has the novelty weared off already?
  3. What i find more interesting is the difference between the Czeck republic and Slovakia.
  4. I dunno about Denmark, but this happens when the government declares that they want a multi-cultural society and heavily tries to paint anyone who thinks otherwise as a racist. Instead of an open debate on what a social engineering multiculturalism is, and what the objective of this impacts societal changes, it is simply hushed away. The only outcome is that the avarage voter feels disconnected from the political arena and the populists reap the rewards from this by playing the role of the dissident. The BNP in britain and alike didn't go big without a base. Instead of the usual, "How will we stop these kinds of people?!" will only grow the dissent from the voters. Those parties should adress the dissatisfaction openly instead.
  5. I think in fact you know 'nothing' about Turkey, as Turkey is by far more and tragedically 'unnecessarily more' democratic than 'any' of the western countries. For middle east countries I can say that when western and non-western invaders leave them alone, they may have time to improve in means of political systems. It is not possible for them to deal with political improvements while they are under bloody invasions. -My quote limit is over, so I will post my 3 post after this one.- You are basically arguing that 4:3 standard definition is superior to 16:9 widescreen. Actually, i have been to Turkey and met with the locals and seen how they view life (Antalya and Alanya). What i noticed was: 1) The avarage Turk has a strong, nationalistic siege-mentality among him. Much more than what i have discovered while travelling in Europe. You simply do not have a strong block of self-hating leftists, socially and politically. I mean, while attending class in one of your schools, why does every classroom have a big picture of Atat
  6. *looks at poster's location* How aware are you of your surroundings really?
  7. No, purchasing assets do not show up in the red as it is considered as an investment. For example, a factory can have machinery worth tens of millions. However, the internal turnover of the factory could be in red. Volourn: you would be surprised by the amount of stupidity that happens at companies when hiring/firing people. Nepotism, personal grudges, unnecessary restructuring, and so on.
  8. Now we're getting somewhere. But does collaborative work art not produce art in itself? Where do you draw the line? How do you apply that into games?
  9. My mistake, sorry. Then it is pretty understable.
  10. You're making an assumption here though. None of us know what the motivations are, and as Electronic Arts has been running deficits for a while now, it's evident that they aren't in the business of laying people off simply to make short term goals attainable. Otherwise these layoffs would have come much sooner (and probably with the other layoffs they have done). They were at a severe loss? What happened to less profit in last quarter than expected? I am getting mixed messages here Back to the point. I was not talking about laws, i was talking about the employees organizing themselves to balance themselves as a power block against the decisions of upper management. Right now, they seem like gullible pushovers that can be treated as trash. On the ford/GM/chrysler thing. As i said, balance in terms of power. Evidently, the unions were running the show with the management not caring or playing golf. They have themselves to blame.
  11. i dont think america really has unions in the same capacity or power as europe does. How lame. Why aren't they organizing themselves? What a bunch of pushovers. Those guys should be more like the french. When the government tried to slash prices, they blocked the stairs to parliament with manure, so that the representives had to walk through s*** to get to work. Just an idea for alanchu whenever the time is right
  12. Games have a writers, designers, composers, artists involved to become a game. - Writing a story is an art. - Designing sculpture(characters) is an art. - Composing music is an art. - Art-design is an art. ... .. . Games aren't an art? (So far, IIRC, only Gromnir have delivered an answer interesting enough)
  13. For the sake of argument, lets say that HR at EA are doing a wonderful job. They are hiring the best of the best for each position. In conclusion, EA is being dumb, really dumb. When you spend years to get a competent workforce, you just do not lay them off for a potential short-term profit. Once they're gone, they're gone forever. This policy will be the downfall in the long run. I mean really, who the hell wants to work for a company that treats its workers as expendable bricks? //Edit: I do not know of the law, but isn't this a case where the union representing the workers should step in? Don't tell me that these guys do not have a collective agreement for contracts and working standards with the company, do they?
  14. The illuminator needs to travel a bit, too much ottomanic drivel to begin with. You simple have no higher moral high ground to stand upon. None. Come back when the rest of the world regard Turkey and the middle east as beacons of liberty, freedom of expression, and human rights.
  15. Good. I can't wait for the total conversion of Unreal 1 with the new engine.
  16. How's ME not a shooter? ME had "pause and issue commands"-schtick to begin with. And so what? You still aim and shoot in real time as usual. Since the whole gameplay is designed according to this designfeature, then the whole experience is degenerated into a shooter-wannabe. It is simply sluggish. Compare it to Halo and laugh.
  17. No worries, i was silly enough to buy it when it was released. The horror, i indirectly funded your happiness
  18. How's ME not a shooter? ME had "pause and issue commands"-schtick to begin with.
  19. Bleh, i hated the gameplay in Mass Effect. I can tolerate how it is in NWN2, KotOR and such though. With turn based combat it would've been "teh win!". Final Fantasy X had the best system, more games should do it that way where you can plan and execute with full control in your own time. Alpha Protocol seems to suffer from this as well, but hopefully it will be more like Deus Ex, where it actually felt like a shooter. Unlike Mass Effect, who didn't know what it supposed to be.
  20. Haha, i love the developers attitude in all of this. Sounds like that idiot fratboy that you would have to beat when he started to talk too much crap. Ah well, idiots will follow the idiot, i guess. (I never cared for the CoD-series to begin with. Maybe MW was exponentially better than the latest iteration) At a base case scenario, the developers are committing cognitive dissonance in this. It goes against every S.W.O.T.-analysis that there is for PC-user, namely: modding, sdks, dedicated servers and so on. The plebs that worship the one of the HD-consoles will not care until they do the next step: Remove HD-resolutions, thropies and voicechat in order to satisfy the Wii-market.
  21. ...because i just noticed CD1 is scratched to a such degree that windows refuses to recognize that there's a CD in the drive So, my options are the following: 1) Try to return it to Lucasarts, since i do not have the reciept anymore to the original store that i bought it from. - Problem: I live in Finland, across the globe from Lucasarts and i do not know if it is even possible to replace a damaged copy anymore. 2) Buy from ebay. - Problem: the sealed mint version usually cost as much as a new PC game. 3) Find an internet store that still has a copy lying somewhere. - Problem: Good luck finding one that has in stock. 4) Since i own a copy, "acquire" a copy of it. - Problem: Silly legalities aside (hey, i own the damn thing already), i do not know if the mod really appreciates a cracked version. It is unstable as it is since i will try to run it in Vista Suggestions?
  22. Haha, i can only laugh at naivety from growing up thinking that the sole reason of a patent is to ensure that a product is build according to the patent itself. For example: Product "A" is product "A" according to the specifications of the patent, not adhering to those specifications and you can no longer call it product "A", but product "B" instead.
  23. It is really sad that Alexander Brandon left (the main contributor to Alpha Protocol's soundtrack IIRC). His compositions for Unreal 1, Unreal Tourment and Deus Ex greatly elevated your gaming experience.
