Finished the game yesterday. I'll post a longer review later, but my god, that game is filled with wasted opportunities. Some things were interesting, but the execution was such a shoddy job that it isn't even funny.

I attended Roger Water's "The Wall"-concert yesterday. I have seen about 25-30 bands throughout my years including Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Metallica and Iron Maiden but none of them compared to that. Epochal in scope, and grand in execution. I do not think that any other mainstream or contemporary group or musician will be able to match that. Every other concert will be a borefest after this one.

True. The Japanese do not expect outsiders to follow the bowing etiquette. Even if Obama was japanese, the angle of his bow, if i recall corrently, would position him lower than a member of the japanese government or senate. It would put him in the vein of a clerk at a smaller shop.

Are there actually any games in the near future that will require more than 1GB of memory on the graphic card? I am a little out of the loop here.

Interesting, why should this Geoff guy be given more respect? On another note, my significant other gave me the signature edition(PC) as a birtday gift. I have no further comment othat than the engine a runs smoothly on my computer.

Henry Kissinger said it already some 40 years ago: "Power is the ultimate aphrodisiac." Of course the best way to dwell in power is to play some a game of Realpolitik. Let me make this clear: None of the leaders who support Gadaffi nor those who is against him cares about the wellbeing of the citizens in Libya. Humanitarian organizations do however, like doctors without borders or amnesty. But who cares about them? What divisions do they have? What strategic element do they bring to the geopolitic area? None! i tell you. None.

I just finished Nehrim. It took me 86 hours in total to do most of the sidequests and the main quest. The main quest was much more interesting and fulfilling compared to Oblivion. Also, i like how the main antagonist was far from a perfect pius that they usually are. He was instead you know, almost human. On the downside was that too many locations were connected to the main quest, which in turn caused too many "This door is locked. You need a key"-moments when you wandered off to the wilderness. Another thing would be that some quests were to heavily scripted to fit a game that tries have a sandbox-approach. Also, too many crashes. But all in all, it had the content and quality of a full game. Not bad for a free total conversion.

People tend not to vote for candidates who have "I am a huge sap, please take advantage of me" stamped across their forehead. I think that i painted you the wrong picture there. Since when is having a domesticly-oriented policy being equal to a weak character? Or are those people who put the interests on effective defense (as in defensive weaponry) and the benefits of their own citizens first inheritly weak people? What i am suggesting is a head of state that do not give two squats about a civil war in a country far away from theirs. Their damn problem. Oh, they got oil? They have a key strategic geographical position? Well good for them. Let them sort it out and we'll establish trade when the situation is more calm. I think that there are more than enough people who would vote for those kinds of people, but correct me if am wrong on people actually vote because of the other alternative.

Answering what? My point has been the last 3 pages that the player should decide himself on what should be pointless in DXHR, while your answer is that X,Y and Z are pointless or stupid in itself and no loss is to the player. That is a moot point since you cannot know what each and every potential player value each interactive object in the game.

When KoL and Dave told this guy to get lost he accused them of not caring about music or musical education or kids. And stuff. Like Glee was the primary reason why kids might like music. Kids like music because music is great in of itself. You don't have to be musical to dig it, that's one of the reasons it's so amazing. He just had this sense of self-entitlement about other people's songs, like everybody would of course bow down and let their stuff be performed on his show. No problem with people who do let their stuff get used, I respect that completely but I also respect the opposite view too. Especially when the divine wisdom of Dave is invoked, stamping a premium seal of complete Common Sense on the deal. ` Thank you. Yup i agree, he did the right thing.

Well, well, well. The big boys want to play some Realpolitik again. Is it completely impossible for us citizens to elect people into office that are not interested in playing the global game of geopolitics? Or have a missed some sort of prime directive here?

I don't really understand. Dave Grohl told F.O. to some show called "Glee"? And what's this with calling a Glee club a cultural renaissance? Can someone tell me, in their own, words what Glee is about and why it has been considered a cultural renaissance?

I find it a legitimate concern that the focus on DXHR is "about the same as DX1, but a little less of this and that". That's playing safe and not pushing boundries. What new features to the gameplay are there? What is the scope? Certainly nothing to raise your eyebrow about. That doesn't mean that it is not going to suck, far from it. But it will not be a stepping stone to the genre as the first one was either. Mediocrity or banality should never be accepted. 'Stupid stuff' was not up to the designer to choose, it was up to the player. I can give some examples: 1) You can build up a barricade in case of Manderlay attacking you, or any other NPC for that matter. 2) You can use them to hide from guards or bots. 3) You can build a bridge out of 'stupid stuff' in order to cross a passage that was too wide before. It might be stupid stuff for you, but that is not the point. The point is that each and every player should be allowed to judge by themselves on what is stupid or not. That was the way it was in DX1. Why not build upon that foundation instead and expand? Now, the only thing that i see is restriction.

No. I like the idea of being able to interact with everything, but in reality it's pretty pointless. In Deus Ex 1, you pretty much could. It was the point of the gameplay, a completely reactive envirment. You misunderstand. I'm talking about junk items that serve no real purpose. Things that once picked up you either drop them or throw them, liked potted plants and trophies, or things like phones which make a noise when used but have no purpose at all. In DX you walk into a room, there are 5 objects, and all of them can be interacted with in some manner though only 2 or 3 have any real use. In DXHR you walk into a room, there are 50 objects, but only 2 or 3 can be interacted with. Take this shot for instance, ignoring the man who is about to get stabbed by mean old Jensen, you can probably only interact with the gun and the computer, and the rest of the clutter is non-interactive scenery. If this was DX1, you could probably also interact with the potted plant, the recycling bin, and the phone, but together those 5 things would be the only items in the room. DX was never about being able to pick up anything that isn't nailed down. It's not a Bethesda RPG. No really, having more items in a level but at the same time having less to interact with compared to a standard level of the game's predecessor released 11 years is simply regression and devolution. There's no pushing the limit, no new ideas or complexity, no great ambition. They are simply playing with the cards that they are given, which is to play it safe. Btw, in DX1 it was completely up for the player to decide which object had any real use or not, not the designer. Now, the player is allowed to use items that the designer deemed as of any real use. A big step back in terms of design philosophy if you ask me.

I guess that billion dollar trailer that no game could ever duplicate visually has its downside. Eh? Obviously the real-time stuff isn't going to have the same polygons, high res textures, and other fancy effects that a pre-rendered trailer gets, but the visual style of the game is the same as the trailer. Personally I think it all looks great. They are doing it wrong, it shouldn't be one item that is interactable among a whole level of clutter. It should be the other way around, dammit. And fix the UI for the PC as well, yuck! Finally, why couldn't they have the same highlighting as in DX1? Completely seamless and nonintrusive. Meh, meh, meh....

I woke up this morning by a loud "FUUUUUUU". The girlfriend wasn't very happy, apparantly the ending is like KoTOR 2. Lets not hope for a Dragon Age 3: Wardens of the Old Thedas: The MMO.
