Dragon Age II Has the Best Writing since PS:T
Meshugger replied to The Transcendent One's topic in Computer and Console
Hauer ad-libbed the last few sentences of that sequence. Thus, making him an even greater actor than he already was. But really, the movie had excellent writing, direction, cinematography, acting, pacing, soundtrack and theme. But the story was as basic as it is: A guy hunting cyborgs during the course of a couple of days and finds out more about himself. -
Dragon Age II Has the Best Writing since PS:T

I dunno about DA2, since i haven't played it yet. But i think that Alpha Protocol had pretty damn good writing and dialogue, the gameplay on the other hand....meh. Maybe you confused it with story? Since that was quite underwhelming. For example, Blade Runner didn't have an excellent story (A guy hunting cyborgs), but it had excellent writing ('Tears in rain'). -
My girlfriend has been playing some more DA2. She feels that it is more of an addon than a 'true' sequel due to the production values and the rehashing of the same levels over and over and over again. Since she's a fan of romances, she's really dissapointed in the male characters as well. One is moody, and the other is broody (as the dwarf puts it) and the third one, the exiled prince, is stoic. She likes the story itself though (not being the chosen one).

Get the f*** out of here. That guy can't be real. No, seriously, criticism is in fact a compliment in BioWorld because it means people have been 'challenged.' The internet has looked at DA2 and, by and large (certainly compared to Origins) gone.... meh. :Cocaine is one hell of a drug.jpg:

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim announced

That sounds strangely good. Oh well, there's always the infamous e3 2005 demo. -

Not exactly "the end of world"-dark, but bleak, gloomy, sense of hopelessness if you know what i mean. But anyhoo, the game fooled me at least.
-
He looks like and talks like he's been on Bondi beach while the world outside is burning. Inconsistency. That's my point. Maybe it changes later, but his presentation in the beginning felt way off.
-
Why would that matter? He still seems inconsistent with the world presented. Unless DA2 is wacky-darky.....or something.

The girlfriend started to play it today on the PS3. She played as a female mage, coming as far as . So far, she liked that she only had to run, press a button, and run some more (casual difficulty) and the fact that there's little thinking needed. But she's in it for the story, so that response was expected. But one thing did strike me though. What's with the dwarf in the intro? No beard, jewelry and a snazzy attitude. That doesn't really fit in a world that tries to represent itself as dark.

Unreal anf Half-life had great A.I. that got "smarter" by the difficulty back in 1998 and lets not forget Halo: Combat Evolved in 2001. Enemies outflank you, throw grenades at the right moment and use cover when needed at higher difficulties. Gameplay was really, really fun. Granted, those were fps's but come on.

Someone buy the game for Monte and make him play it at gunpoint. His character should preferably be called "Mysterio Romance-a-lot", going for the completionist achievement. That means romancing everyone and everything and doing all the sidequests. I eagerly await his review.

Heh, I'll give you a shiny dollar coin if you can show one single instance where I have lied. Everything I've stated as fact has had a link, and where I've used quotes I've provided the link to the context too. In contrast, with Volourn style quoting... DA:O sold [in] 2.7 [million] Agreed (note: link added by me). ME2 selling 3 million+ [citation needed] Citation from EA states 2 million sold in worldwide while EA quarterly report says 1.6 million sold through] for Q4 2010/ calendar Q1 2011; FY 2010 ends March 31st according to the same document therefore the ME2 sales figure is for- as best as can be ascertained- approximately its first 12 weeks of sales. Retail, DA:O sold 1.3 million [citation needed], with around 500K[citation needed] on PC and the rest on Console. ME2 sold 500-600K [citation needed] on PC with the rest on Xbox 360 at retail. At this point you can either post your sources, concede with dignity, go off the rails or choose not to reply. You're right, I underestimated....by 3 million for ME2. http://www.vg247.com/2010/04/14/muzyka-and...eynote-develop/ BioWare founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have been announced as main keynotes for this year

That's entirely possible. It also depends on what the CEO of EA has promised for its shareholders on what kind of ROI they should expect from their Bioware division. If the bar is set to high, then more cost-effective measures will be implemented. Back to DA2 though, seems like you can finish it pretty quickly: From the looks of it, it seems like the screenshot was taken from PS3-version.
-
Volourn is right there. DA sold more than any Bioware game before, so if it was not profitable, then they are in serious trouble in terms of developing games independently in the future. However, i do suspect that EA didn't like their profit ratio compared to expenses in development and introduced a more "cost-effective" process for DA2.

I think that Hollywood will be at their worst with "sequelitis" when they're announcing that Citizen Kane needs a "reboot", "prequel" or "sequel".

There are more factors in play there and you know it. Or maybe the allies didn't use enough force against germany in WWI?

"Calm" as no riotpolice doing their daily killing along 100 000 - 1 000 000 demonstrators on Bagdad main square. Indeed. I can see the calming element in the Iraqi police's genial service whereby they would spare the demonstrator the tiresome necessity of assembling before killing them. I'd like to ask, because I'm genuinely fascinated: how the hell have you absorbed the notion that what has been happening for the last couple of weeks is more violent than the Ba'ath party's every day behaviour of its last twenty years? Saddam Hussein followed a largely Stalinist model of control, predicated on ongoing random acts of violence intended to induce a psychologically numbed and supine country. If, and indeed when, the people gathered as they have tried in other regimes, they would simply have been slaughtered entirely. Not the odd handful here and there. ENTIRELY. So if there was a degree of calm it was the calm of the hostage. I feel entitled to a little rage on this point. By failing to grasp this you are disrespecting the memory of an entirely people being murdered in their many hundreds of thousands. And that, sir, is ****ing angry-making. You ought to be ashamed. Personal and emotional involvement to the lives of the citizens has nothing to do with discussing the stability of a state. The institutions worked, infrastructure and logistics were in place and the authorities upheld public order. Which is not happening in Libya. Civil war is more like it. Should the rest of world react and liberate the libyans? Not really, unless you want see another game of realpolitik unfold again. Humanitarian effort and acceptance of refugees, sure. Finally, I excuse you for your temporary influx of rage, since it makes people say things in very exaggerated manner.

Performance anxiety I suppose. Let me help you guys with getting into the right mood.

I can't really comment much on the trailer, except that Oblivion looked incredibly well during the 2005 E3 demo as well.

Saddam gassed a couple of thousand kurds and waged a civil war against the shiites during the times of desert storm. But before operation Iraqi freedom, things were pretty calm. Certainly no big and bloody demonstrations like the ones in Libya at the moment. If Saddam wasn't overthrown, I wonder if the current revolution would've expanded to Iraq as well.

Haha. WTF!? That's right, he's committed heresy. Burn the witch. Why not have a think, y'know, an original thought? One not prescribed by your almost certainly libtard peer group? Maybe challenge them and explore a perspective you don't normally share? I do it now and then. Sometimes I even realise my point of view on a subject was skewed. Why not check it out? Oh, stop being such a tease. I want to know what the point was
