  1. That's correct. But as a DS character, I don't think it was necessary to purchase him :/.
  2. I haven't tried this, so correct me if I'm wrong, but if you tell Atton that Revan was a "dark side" female, the only circumstances where Carth can be killed, Carth won't appear and it'll be some other Republic admiral instead. There's no problem there. You do have a point about Bastila though. If you're "light side", it is possible to kill Bastila. However, since redeeming her is easy, the only way you'd kill her is if you wanted to, which is contrary to the whole "light side" philosophy. Obsidian wasn't unreasonable in assuming she survived. Other than these two, Canderous/Mandalore and the droids, I wouldn't count on any KOTOR characters returning. As for KOTOR 2 characters, Mira and Hanharr can be killed, and so can Visas, as well as Kreia, obviously. None of these things are specific to dark side or light side endings, so I doubt any of these characters can appear in a future installment. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah well it just happens the game I'm playing atm I've indicated that Revan was a DS female in KOTOR 1, so we'll see what happens . Couldn't you kill Bastila as DS male in the first KOTOR? Good points so far on the future of KOTOR's characters, keep 'em coming . This may be another reason actually why OE decided to leave the ending so open (which made it pretty disappointing in some regards, but helps with continuity, since if you don't know how the relationships stand between you and your party members, it's easier to slot in the Exile into KOTOR 3 if need be).
  3. If this problem wasn't happening to me, I think I would laugh. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah sorry about my attempt at humour . It has to be sound card related - I mean I'm pretty sure there's no option in the menu that says turn certain sounds off... or maybe it has something to do with the 3D sound settings? I know that in some games (like Planescape Torment) when I have 3D surround settings on I can hardly hear what the characters are saying while background noise is extremely loud. Have you tried getting the latest sound drivers for your card? Are you using motherboard sound?
  4. I find it fascinating how female gamers really dislike Disciple to the point of wanting to kill him . I guess "nice guys" don't have their place in our day and age . You're probably right though, maybe the developers thought that the male options *would* be attractive to females, but then again, we're males, so we're obviously not the best judge on "what women want" (unless you're Mel Gibson from that film with the same name). Hmmm maybe some input from the developers' wives could help in that regard for the future? :D
  5. No problems with sounds or graphics. I'm getting the little animation, but not the jingle. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hmmmm strange... what we need now, is a "Twilight Zone" jingle
  6. Exactly same here <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Whoa, freaky!
  7. Yeah, as mentioned, "it's just a game". I found it kind of fun at times being a psychopath, especially with Kreia scolding me and saying "Must you always be such a psychopath?" which you reply "If you don't quit nagging me, you're going to be next!" to which she replies "Oh forget it, I don't even know why I bother" or something along those lines :D. At least in KOTOR 2 you don't get to kill your own party members... at least I don't think so .
  8. My bet is for March 4th which would be a nice birthday present for me if indeed it fell on that day :D. Just be patient with this one though guys. You know what happens when debugging is rushed...
  9. Er it should be on by default? Shouldn't do... are you getting any other problems with sounds?
  10. Hey all, was just wondering what your thoughts are on the characters that returned in KOTOR 2 (and the ones that didn't) based on the events that occured in KOTOR 1. It's been awhile since I've played KOTOR 1 and I'm not quite sure how many of your NPCs you can kill but anyway here's the list I think: Canderous HK-47 T3-M3 Bastila (possible) Carth (possible) Juhani (possible) Jolee (possible) Mission (possible) Zalbar (possible) Can't remember about the rest (please correct me if I'm wrong). So since you can kill most of them, you wouldn't expect the likes of Bastila or Carth to appear in KOTOR 2 (which they do) but then again I guess they made a compromise with what Revan actually did in KOTOR 1 and after. With this in mind, do you think it'll be likely that in a KOTOR 3, considering in KOTOR 2 they assume that you didn't kill KOTOR 1 characters, that you could get a reprisal of any of the above roles?
  11. I don't care too much of the length of the game as long as it's decent and it's fun. Short but sweet. Some old Lucasarts adventures were the same. They seemed a bit short but they were a blast along the way. KOTOR 2 seemed of a decent length to me, only I wish it wasn't so damn buggy and the endings weren't cut out . Oh and speaking of Morrowind, KOTOR 2 *is* similar in one regard. Both games have non-satisfactory endings :D. Okay okay, just kidding...
  12. Possible spoilers When I finished the game as DS, it just wasn't as satisfying as the LS character - that's if I role-played as a psychotic killer! Firstly (don't know if this is a bug) but I never was able to complete HK-47 so I never got him as a party member, even though I got him mid-game as LS (probably a bug). Secondly, since I'm role-playing as a psychotic killer, I don't really listen to people and *since* talking to Kreia is the way of finding out how the game resolves, *not* talking to her results in you being rewarded with a cutscence of Kreia being tossed into Malachor V and then the camera panning to the universe. THE END (this is a major reason why they should've done the ending better. I'm not even sure if the cut endings would've helped KOTOR2 in this regard.)
  13. Yeah, so basically what you're saying is that these so-called Jedi Masters aren't "practising what they preach" . It's sort of like the justification for the death penalty - are you any better off than a murderer if you think like Hammurabi? "An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth"? The interesting thing about this story is that if we draw parallels to the real world, the Jedi and Sith could be seen as practitioners of religion, a sort of Christianity (Jedi) versus Satanism (the Sith). Both members of these factions have faith and believe in them being either good or evil. However, the Exile is probably one who has LOST faith ALTOGETHER, and is basically, like an atheist. Of course you can't have the powers granted of being with such a faith (divine intervention anyone ?) but you're also immune to its more negative effects. That's probably what the Jedi Council was worried about and thought dangerous, that more people would start becoming Force-atheists and that they would basically have no influence at all on how the Galaxy is run.
  14. Indeed, considering they are so concerned about the "quality" of the Star Wars franchise (obviously a huge percentage of LucasArts games is set in the Star Wars universe) you'd think they would have given Obsidian more time!
  15. What would be *really* smart is if through dialogue at the beginning, you can pick who your previous companions were (maybe just 2 out of the original bunch to tag along with you). Depending on your conversations, you'll meet up with them later on ! (However, this'll create HUGE possibilities in which direction the game can go and is probably impossible ).
  16. That's what I'm *hoping* was the case (since given enough time, KOTOR 3 could be one of the best RPGs ever) - although if it wasn't, then I think Obsidian made a very bad design decision in rushing the end-game.
  17. What we really need in KOTOR 3 is: (a) much less bugs, (b) an explanation of what happened at the end of KOTOR 2 and © a proper resolution to the series (unless there's going to be a KOTOR 4 )
  18. lol was just going to comment on that :D.
  19. Hmmmm well if they stuff up the next KOTOR I'll be severely pissed off. KOTOR 2 has made me extra cautious about buying another Obsidian game and I'm going to probably borrow the game off a friend first before actually buying the game. Either Obsidian patches up KOTOR 2 and fixes a majority of the bugs or an improved quality sequel to KOTOR 2 would restore my faith in Obsidian. They did Fallout and Planescape Torment so well - why can't it be like the good ol' days?
  20. You could just imagine the Sith soldiers hailing "Darth Finklebaumer"!
  21. make your time. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> WHAT YOU SAY? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You know what you doing <{POST_SNAPBACK}> For great justice.
  22. wow! Over 50,000 views! That's a lot of views...
  23. At one point on Nar Shaddaa as a DS male WITHOUT Kreia in my party, she started doing the telepathy thing and telling you about how Nar Shaddaa is a teeming with life etc. The talking gets cut off after about 3 seconds but during those talks it flashes back to the Ebon Hawk to show her talking. One time, in the background, she was getting attacked by Bao-Dur and the remote while she was conversing with you! WTF?
  24. Just curious, did you ever play KOTOR1?
