Instead, they harass people who are not even journalists; target indie developers who have less influence on the industry than they do. Who at Gamergate has done so? Not one shred of evidence exists in implicating gamergate of any of this; not even a random **** even faintly associated with gamergate, much less a somewhat relevant portion of gamergate supporters. This is slander; plain and simple. Gamergate has, from the very beginning, only targeted gaming websites that have been participating in unethical practices. I care a great deal about media ethics I don't know how much you care about media ethics, but since you are comfortable with blatant slander I don't think you have much credibility on the matter. Having Jim Sterling oppose you about consumer advocacy in games is like having your medical licence revoked by a medical body, but continuing to practice medicine. Who made Jim Sterling God of media ethics? Gamergate has already exposed beyond a shadow of a doubt real journalistic corruption with the reveal of gamejournopros. Yes, it was Breitbart technically, but it was us who made the claim something like this existed; which is why he looked into it. If Jim Sterling cared about media ethics; he would at least be recognizing the good it's done to help reveal this overt corruption. I would love to have a discussion about ethics; I want people to care and now, thanks to Gamergate, that will become harder There are discussions about ethics right now. Go on and have them. Gamergate has done nothing but raised issues, and exposed overt corruption; such as the colluding of RIVAL journalists in order to push a common narrative. You don't need to be an ethicist to know that's unethical. Oh, Gamergate supporters are very good at taking on corporations to support the corporations, but the gods forbid they actually work at challenging focus testing, dodgy marketing and the ethics of paying for reviews One issue at a time. A big reveal involving corrupt journalists that isn't conjecture, but absolute provable fact is being dealt with. Once the easy battle is dealt with; we can move on to the tougher ones. In their very targeting, Gamergate has been unethical. They are akin to animal rights’ activists who spend their time on a single, Mom and Pop’s Pet Store, which might be actually be a shelter. On what basis? There is no chance that the journalists and the sites we have been targeting could even possibly be ethical. We already have the proof. There is no "what if" in regards to these websites. Nor are these sites small enough to be compared to, "mom and pop" stores. I could respond to this whole thing, but it's just too much. It is unabashedly progressive and big on social justice issues though, which drives the libertarian/reactionary wing of the atheist/skeptic/secularist movement bonkers. The drama is great fun.
