GD made me think about something related to comics

In the 1980'S and 1990's  I use to collect comics, mostly Justice League and Legion of Super Heroes and but also Flash, Spider Man and others

Anyway I still have several hundred in my cupboard and I only want the Conan comics. I see there are avid comic collectors on this forum and I'm happy to give them away for free as long as they looked after

So who collects comics and what type, these comic are mostly from the 80 and 90

I will divide them amongst people if there are many people who want them

I have 1 comic book in my house. Web of Spiderman #1 from the early 80's. Last I saw it was worth about $12. Not a bad return on a $0.35 investment I guess. I was into baseball cards as a kid and I still have a few around. The only one that might be of some value though is Kirby Puckett from his rookie season. I've never checked.

That  should  be worth more than that...I remember in the 1980's I was very fortunate to go overseas on holiday. Mostly Europe and London but also the USA

And because of sanctions we had no comic shops in South Africa so being able to visit comic shops that existed in places like London and New York was like a unimaginable dream

GD have you heard about the fantasy boardgame from Games Workshop called Talisman ..I remember buying this in London and being blown away about how awesome it was

I have a couple long boxes at my parent's house. Collected pretty heavily in my school years, but now with kids and such I can't afford $5 an issue.

I've got a good chunk of the old 80's Marvel run of Star Wars, alongside the UK version of Transformers from about issue 74 to the last one..which was, hm, something like 365 if I remember. Plus I've got a stack of 2000AD that's about 9 inches high. All safely stored in liners and boxes up in the attic.

The things you end up stashing away....

Grew up in a comic book shop more or less. Haven't kept up though. It's an expensive habit.

That sounds interesting, didn't you have parents?

But I suppose who needs rules when you can read comics all day  :dancing:

I used to be an avid comics collector. Never cared for the 'super hero' stuff though. Most of it was from the "French/Belgian" school of comics (Rosinski/Van Hamme, Herge, Mezieres, Uderzo/Goscinny, Giraud, Franquin, Peyo etc.) or Spanish language translations (Jodorowsky/Gimenez, Segrelles)

At the time I was limited to what was translated into my first language, as my French was never really that good.

Edit to add a few names that might be more recognisable for English speaking audiences: Smurfs, Asterix, Blueberry, Tintin, Incal, Linda and Valentin, Iznogood, Thorgal, Lucky Luke to name a few.

Edit2: Because I never realised Jodorowsky was Chilean and not Spanish.

LSH fans don't give up their Legion comics. LLL! :p

EDIT: In case it wasn't obvious, I read comics.  But I mean, really, it should be obvious.

I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

"The Great Darkness Saga" and the big return of the LSV to launch the 1984 Baxter series. :)  Yeah a real good period for the Legion.

You mean when they terraformed Daxam to be a giant stone Darkseid head?  Yeah.
