Guard Dog Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I have 1 comic book in my house. Web of Spiderman #1 from the early 80's. Last I saw it was worth about $12. Not a bad return on a $0.35 investment I guess. I was into baseball cards as a kid and I still have a few around. The only one that might be of some value though is Kirby Puckett from his rookie season. I've never checked. 1 "While it is true you learn with age, the down side is what you often learn is what a damn fool you were before" Thomas Sowell

That should be worth more than that...I remember in the 1980's I was very fortunate to go overseas on holiday. Mostly Europe and London but also the USA And because of sanctions we had no comic shops in South Africa so being able to visit comic shops that existed in places like London and New York was like a unimaginable dream GD have you heard about the fantasy boardgame from Games Workshop called Talisman ..I remember buying this in London and being blown away about how awesome it was https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talisman_%28board_game%29 "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. ManifestedISO Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 Bruce, I'd say donate the issues you don't want locally, maybe a grade school or somewhere where kids don't have access to fine literature. 1 All Stop. On Screen.

Raithe Posted April 2, 2016 Posted April 2, 2016 I've got a good chunk of the old 80's Marvel run of Star Wars, alongside the UK version of Transformers from about issue 74 to the last one..which was, hm, something like 365 if I remember. Plus I've got a stack of 2000AD that's about 9 inches high. All safely stored in liners and boxes up in the attic. The things you end up stashing away.... Gorgon Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 Grew up in a comic book shop more or less. Haven't kept up though. It's an expensive habit. 1 Na na na na na na ... greg358 from Darksouls 3 PVP is a CHEATER. That is all.
BruceVC Posted April 3, 2016 Author Posted April 3, 2016 Grew up in a comic book shop more or less. Haven't kept up though. It's an expensive habit. That sounds interesting, didn't you have parents? But I suppose who needs rules when you can read comics all day "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. Gorth Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I used to be an avid comics collector. Never cared for the 'super hero' stuff though. Most of it was from the "French/Belgian" school of comics (Rosinski/Van Hamme, Herge, Mezieres, Uderzo/Goscinny, Giraud, Franquin, Peyo etc.) or Spanish language translations (Jodorowsky/Gimenez, Segrelles) At the time I was limited to what was translated into my first language, as my French was never really that good. Edit to add a few names that might be more recognisable for English speaking audiences: Smurfs, Asterix, Blueberry, Tintin, Incal, Linda and Valentin, Iznogood, Thorgal, Lucky Luke to name a few. Edit2: Because I never realised Jodorowsky was Chilean and not Spanish. 2 “He who joyfully marches to music in rank and file has already earned my contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the spinal cord would surely suffice.” - Albert Einstein
ManifestedISO Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 My best girl Jennifer Walters may die in July. Civil War II is going to kill She-Hulk, probably, according to a source who compared solicitations. This'll be a first for me, I wasn't there when Supes and Cap died. All Stop. On Screen.
Amentep Posted April 21, 2016 Posted April 21, 2016 (edited) GD made me think about something related to comics In the 1980'S and 1990's I use to collect comics, mostly Justice League and Legion of Super Heroes and but also Flash, Spider Man and others Anyway I still have several hundred in my cupboard and I only want the Conan comics. I see there are avid comic collectors on this forum and I'm happy to give them away for free as long as they looked after So who collects comics and what type, these comic are mostly from the 80 and 90 I will divide them amongst people if there are many people who want them LSH fans don't give up their Legion comics. LLL! EDIT: In case it wasn't obvious, I read comics. But I mean, really, it should be obvious. Edited April 21, 2016 by Amentep 1 I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man

Yeah a real good period for the Legion. Remember how hectic it was when Darkseid brainwashes those people from Daxam ( mon-el world ) "Abashed the devil stood and felt how awful goodness is and saw Virtue in her shape how lovely: and pined his loss” John Milton "We don't stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” - George Bernard Shaw "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
