bugarup Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 You can give secondary class to your characters now, meaning you can make everyone stealthy. Doesn't help with all FE/ET trash because there are too many that ignore stealth, but it does weed out some.

I'm sure that Bioware, now unburdened with backbreaking labour of updating SWTOR with 5 hours worth annual content, will instantly propel Dragon Age from concept art stage and Mass Effect from repackaging. 1 1

Hopefully this works out well for TOR. Plenty of MMO's have changed hands and continued on alright. LotrO going for Turbine to Standing Stone (a smaller group made up of former Turbine employees) and that worked out pretty well.
Raithe Posted June 7, 2023 Posted June 7, 2023 Well I think Broadsword is pretty much a "maintenance" only rather than a "continue development" going from their history. "Cuius testiculos habeas, habeas cardia et cerebellum."

It looks like they have Dark Ages of Camelot and Ultima Online right now, but I don't know what they've done to those games. TOR is also kind of stuck with the narrative experience of the game. Like, you can't rework the leveling system without messing up the storylines of the level 1-60 experience. They'd benefit from new classes or something fresh to attract people, but I don't think it would be simple to implement. WoW and LotRO have rebuilt the starting areas and introduced new classes numerous times to make it fresh. 2

melkathi Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Just got the email that if I do not log in, I'll lose my character names Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
Humanoid Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Losing my character names when the Aussie servers were shut down and merged into the US ones was one of the big reasons I never bothered even trying to play the game again. And all that only to bring the servers back later... 1 L I E S T R O N GL I V E W R O N G
melkathi Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Yeah, same for me with the EU server merger. I think half my characters lost their names. 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
ShadySands Posted November 20 Posted November 20 Same, I lost about half my names when they merged servers way back when. I would have rather had KOTOR3 1 Free games updated 3/4/21
bugarup Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Damn, will have to log in then, really don't want to lose my Darths Continentia, Halitosis and Bertie Wooster, my bounty hunter Payme, Jedi Knight Izno Goud, Cathar trooper Gary Kittenberg...
melkathi Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Logged in. Remembered that 3 out of 5 characters didn't have names since the first server merger. Logged out. Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
ShadySands Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Currently downloading like 40 gigs of patches for a game I'm probably not even going to put 5 minutes into Free games updated 3/4/21
majestic Posted November 21 Posted November 21 Honestly can't be assed. Since I quit before the second wave of server merges, I don't even know how many of my characters still have their names. Probably none. No mind to think. No will to break. No voice to cry suffering.
Hurlshort Posted November 21 Posted November 21 I renamed some characters when I got the urge to play over the summer. It was pretty simple, since plenty of names are available with the smaller player base. The fact they opened up all the classes for the storylines helped. I didn't like the playstyle of a few of the stories, but I found it much easier to enjoy the smuggler while using the skills of a dual pistol merc.
PK htiw klaw eriF Posted November 21 Posted November 21 I'm surprised it's still around tbh. bugarup Posted November 22 Posted November 22 I view it as a cenotaph to Bioware as it was at its peak. Here's hoping it stays for a long, long time so I could come and pay annual respects. 1

It doesn't cost much to maintain these MMO's once they are settled. Heck, people are still playing Everquest 2, DC Universe Online, and LotRO. SW:TOR probably has another decade of life left. Every time a new Star Wars show gets released, they get a boost in players. And a new SW show seems to come out every 6 months.
Humanoid Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Attempted to log in to my account, set a new password, etc. Somehow over the years they've *lowered* the maximum password length to 16. That, and it doesn't actually tell you that or any other password requirements, it just tells you it's not valid so you have to look up the requirements separately. L I E S T R O N GL I V E W R O N G
melkathi Posted November 23 Posted November 23 I just kept typing, but since I had hit the limit, it cut off at the same point in both the password and the confirmation so everything was fine. Humanoid Posted November 23 Posted November 23 Ah, I generated using a password manager then pasted it into the field, which provided no feedback other than saying it was invalid. I then reduced it to 16, but had to regenerate a couple of times to get one containing no illegal special characters, because again they don't tell you which ones are legal. Not as bad an experience as I had with Rabobank recently though, who accepted an invalid password (despite all the conditions coming up green) but then went to an error screen afterwards, giving no hint that it was even the password step that went wrong. melkathi Posted November 23 Posted November 23 The result is the same though: Neither of us could use 20m3D@y2Y0uG37Th3K@thh0und@nd20m3D@y2Th3K@thh0undG3t2Y0u as a password 1 Unobtrusively informing you about my new ebook (which you should feel free to read and shower with praise).
