Zoraptor Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 There is no question about Israel's 1948 ethnic cleansing If you truly believe that then boy, you've swallowed the Antizionist narrative deeply. David ben-Gurion admitted to it being a matter of policy in his book, and he certainly wasn't an antizionist. And Israel regularly voted in Lehi/ Stern Gang members- overt ethnic cleansers and overt terrorists- into positions as high as Prime Minister; Menachem Begen and Yitzhak Shamir, as well as Ariel Sharon who was found guilty of complicity in actual genocide against Palestinians.
Ineth Posted July 28, 2015 Posted July 28, 2015 David ben-Gurion admitted to it being a matter of policy in his book Lol, no. Misrepresenting or outright faking Ben-Gurion quotes sure seems to be a popular hobby among Anti-Zionist bloggers though, so I can't blame you for having picked up one of those canards... Wrath of Dagon Posted July 29, 2015 Posted July 29, 2015 Sanders on immigration : Ezra Klein You said being a democratic socialist means a more international view. I think if you take global poverty that seriously, it leads you to conclusions that in the US are considered out of political bounds. Things like sharply raising the level of immigration we permit, even up to a level of open borders. About sharply increasing ... Bernie Sanders Open borders? No, that's a Koch brothers proposal. Ezra Klein Really? Bernie Sanders Of course. That's a right-wing proposal, which says essentially there is no United States. ... Ezra Klein But it would make ... Bernie Sanders Excuse me ... Ezra Klein It would make a lot of global poor richer, wouldn't it? Bernie Sanders It would make everybody in America poorer —you're doing away with the concept of a nation state, and I don't think there's any country in the world that believes in that. If you believe in a nation state or in a country called the United States or UK or Denmark or any other country, you have an obligation in my view to do everything we can to help poor people. What right-wing people in this country would love is an open-border policy. Bring in all kinds of people, work for $2 or $3 an hour, that would be great for them. I don't believe in that. I think we have to raise wages in this country, I think we have to do everything we can to create millions of jobs. You know what youth unemployment is in the United States of America today? If you're a white high school graduate, it's 33 percent, Hispanic 36 percent, African American 51 percent. You think we should open the borders and bring in a lot of low-wage workers, or do you think maybe we should try to get jobs for those kids? I think from a moral responsibility we've got to work with the rest of the industrialized world to address the problems of international poverty, but you don't do that by making people in this country even poorer. http://www.vox.com/2015/7/28/9014491/bernie-sanders-vox-conversation Agree 100%, except he should've said "corporatist" instead of "right-wing", but I guess to him it's one and the same. 3 "Moral indignation is a standard strategy for endowing the idiot with dignity." Proper conservatives aren't whores for the Chamber of Commerce (CoC). Those doing the bidding of the CoC to the detriment of the nation are corporatists with a good number of RINOs, Republicans-In-Name-Only, thrown into the mix. RINOs are most often socially liberal while purporting to be far more conservative and traditional when it comes to economic issues. Namutree Posted August 8, 2015 Posted August 8, 2015 Watched the GOP primary debate. Rand Paul was horrible. WTF was wrong with him? He was acting obnoxious and kinda stupid. I hate to admit it, but Trump wasn't bad. He wasn't good, but not bad either. Dang it. First Rand's inability to have a definitive stance on TPP (which implies support for it) and now he makes a fool of himself on national television. At this rate I'll be voting for Sanders, and I don't wanna vote for Sanders. "Good thing I don't heal my characters or they'd be really hurt." Is not something I should ever be thinking. Ineth Posted August 9, 2015 Posted August 9, 2015 Why on earth did the organizers concede the mic to them, rather than having them escorted off the stage? Bartimaeus Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Better to have one speech go wrong (...and hopefully it remains just one speech...) than to allow the media ammunition in which to demonize him. He's a wealthy old cis gendered mentally sound white man; he's already on thin ice. Dunno, I think if handled professionally (just like the organizers of an open air concert would), the racism allegation would only be brought up by an extreme fringe (if at all) and would not stick. I mean, there's a reason why the activists don't target, say, Donald Trump's rallies (another wealthy old cis gendered white man): They wouldn't get away with it, not even as a way to make him look (more) racist. They'd be intercepted swiftly before even getting on the stage. And if they did manage to get on the stage, Trump would personally tell them to **** off 'till they'd walk away dumbfounded, and he'd do it in a way that would make the audience laugh and he could use to spin the whole thing to his favour. I hear this wasn't Sander's own rally though, he was just one of three invited speakers - so I don't blame him for going along with the organizer's decision to indulge the activists. It's the organizer's decision that I find puzzling. Edited August 10, 2015 by Ineth "Some ideas are so stupid that only an intellectual could believe them." -- attributed to George Orwell
Bartimaeus Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 (edited) ...and that's why people like Trump. He is doesn't let anyone walk over him; he is nobodys bitch, he is himself. Yeah, but he's a Republican who legitimately doesn't seem to really give a crap about whether he's winning or losing...but seems much more dead-set on exploding this whole entire farce of a presidential election system...particularly on the Republican side. Bernie, on the other hand, is just trying to stay in the Democrat race as best as he can, and doesn't need any media complications or accusations of being racist or whatever else other stupidity that people might conjure up against him. Rostere Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Haha, Donald Trump is a true bro the way he is masterfully trolling the outdated American implementation of democracy. Him announcing a independent run would bar the door to the White House for any right-wing candidate. I bet right-leaning Americans are tearing their hair out right now. Time to reform the system, I guess. "Well, overkill is my middle name. And my last name. And all of my other names as well!"
