So, more often than not, when someone starts talking (either during dialogues, or npc banters), the voice over starts some words after the text that appears on screen. Sometimes it's a matter of 2-3 words, sometimes a whole sentence and a half is missing.

And sometimes, albeit less frequently, the voice stops before its text counterpart.

 

I restarted the game with 4 different characters and the earlier I've noticed the issue is in Gilded Vale.

 

I don't have a save file at the moment, because I deleted all my saves (sorry, I'm still in the process of creating a

character that 'feels right') without thinking that they could be required when reporting issues.

 

I'll attach my dxdialog output though. Can't seem to be able to upload the file, so I'll just hide it in a spoiler tag.

On the saves -- The game makes a separate set of save files for each character -- No real reason to delete old ones unless you either feel like it, or wanna reclaim some HD space.

If you have a lot of save files, your save and load time becomes extra long.

I got this on a new character. Started happening with Calisca in the starting map. Reloaded the game and it resolved itself. Any idea what causes this? It's quite an annoying bug.

Bump.

 

I get this too.

 

Noticed at the start when Cassia says "....... gone hunting" which should be " What a surprise, Smurfles gone hunting."

I started a new game with 1.03.0524, and all the VO sounded fine through the first 3 maps.  (And it was consistently fine with 1.02.) 

 

Overnight, the game updated to .0526, I went to recruit Durance, and the first few seconds of each of his lines get skipped. 

 

VO plays normally in conversation with Eder, though.  Haven't tested further than that. 

 

 

Edit:  And now, upon closing the game and re-opening it, Durance's VO plays normally.  Will continue monitoring to see if there's a pattern.

Yes, it's random ... Calisia (spelling?) and the other early companion's voice were truncated at the beginning almost always at the beginning of my new game with 1.03 patch. Always missing 2-3 words or so.

I don't know if someone mentioned it already in that other long thread, but what I've noticed in my game is that during the tutorial if you have fast mode on, the npc voices cut out like that at their trigger points. eg, if you have fast mode on and are sneaking, it happens less often or not at all, for me.

 

It's like fast mode walking = triggering/hitting the dialogue/banter spot then moving beyond too fast which causes a skip in audio or some such weird thing. Not saying that's it for everyone, but sure seems to be it for me, at least in the tutorial area (I haven't noticed this issue anywhere else/the rest of the game, however).

I had this start happening once, after I'd been playing for a while.  Restarting the game client fixed it in my case.

Hi folks,

Can I get your save files (if you have a spot where the voice-over constantly gets cut off, right before that spot would be the great) and your output log right after the issue occurs? 

I've seen this bug in the past but it was rare and I can't get it to occur now. I appreciate the help!

  • PC: *output_log.txt* (In your PillarsOfEternity_Data folder)

one of the repeated instance was devs comentary in ondras gift (tried it 3 times, always cut off at the same point) but dont have the save anymore

it could be the same issue,or it could be that that specific audio file cuts of in midleof sentence
