I may be completely wrong and maybe it has never been raised ?

You are. The codex is the codex, if you think it's bad don't go there. RPGWatch provides an alternative that caters to your sensibilities.

I'm just interested in the Codex's history if anyone who runs the website has tried to implement moderation?

The Codex is moderated, juuust not in the style that you're used to.

I like it how it is. If it was moderately or overmoderated I wouldn't visit there very often.

I do have a question for those who are  regulars on the Codex, has anyone ever seriously tried to implement proper moderation on the forums and explained why they are doing it ?

Why would they want to do that? One of the fundations of the Codex is that lax of moderation. If your sensibilities can't take it, then don't read it, simple as that.

100 %

I get that and thats why I don't frequent Codex,

But we always seem to talk about the lack of moderation so I'm just interested in the Codex's history if anyone who runs the website has tried to implement moderation? Because surely it must have come up where people say " okay its time we tried to enforce certain standards"

I may be completely wrong and maybe it has never been raised ?

Read the rules, they don't want those standards you talk about, because to avoid them was one of the many reasons the Codex exists. That doesn't mean it isn't moderated, but they are a lot more open than most forums.

Fair enough, if you don't mind me asking I'm interested in what type of moderation style is used on the Codex ?

Isn't that what you do every time someone mentions the codex?

that is poor deflection.  lets talk 'bout your sensitivity.  if codex is scaling to our level, and you is all so much more thick-skinned than us, then why would you care if we find codexian bigotry to be unpalatable?  is you that concerned with Gromnir's opinion that you will rise to the bait each an every time we hold it forth?  does you need respond to the offering like some trained porpoise?  you do make a mighty amusing splash, btw.

we could discuss codex, or we can continue along the line o' argument that you chose wherein we point out personal shortcomings o' the other... which is admitted gonna be easier for Gromnir as we gets to be the one responding to your less than artful attempts at deflection.  is up to you.  Gromnir and sensuki as the topic, or codex?  personal, we prefer to discuss codex (not that there is much left to discuss) but you seem to wanna keep talking 'bout Gromnir.  queer... and use that in the denotative rather than connotative manner.

oh, and no.

HA! Good Fun!

our contempt for codex is not personal, but it is genuine.

I dunno, sounds pretty personal to me. But then again, I'm stoopid.

Yeah, he's taking it personal, see below from earlier in the thread. Have pity though, Gromnir's experience with the codex appear to include being PMed by Nomask7 which would scar the most accomplished warrior let alone someone with such a delicate id.

coupled with private messaging of folks being defecated 'pon as a showing o' displeasure, also makes codex a bit difficult to take in anything but extreme small doses.

I just enjoy poking you about it, that's all. You're the only person here that continuously shivers and posts about it every time I mention it, in every thread. Hahah.

see, again, that works better if we hadn't already pointed out that we were baiting you. "Haha."

oh well.

in any event, you do seem to have answered the primary question we posed in our previous post: personal or codex? we don't find you all that interesting, but if you wanna keep soft-balling stuff, we will keep hitting it.  "q_q"?  heh.

oh, and to stay on-topic, we still haven't read the actual codex list.  random internet lists is, well, random.

oh and

am much more interested in how somebody rated world religions than we is curious to know what were the 1-25 (or 1-50? as we said, we didn't actual see the list) crpgs for 2014 as rated by codex.

HA! Good Fun!

ps am thinking amish is lumped in with christianity umbrella, otherwise, they got robbed.

who is nomask7?  friend of yours?

am not certain we indicated in that post that we had personally received pms such as that at codex.  doesn't appear that way from our post.

Like whores in a back alley somewhere, the 'Codex is here because of the human condition. You cannot remove it because it insults your sensibilities or if it doesn't suit your political or moral agenda.

Fascists, communists, nazis, racists, religious bigots, traditionalists, elitists, muslim rape apologists, homosexuals, blood sex fetishists, transexual pornstars, anime wiccans, scat proponents that wish for transexuals to defacate on their chests (yes, that request has actually been passed there) all gather there under the flag of open debate with conservatives, social democrats, libertanians, trotskyists, stalinists, germans, russians, americans, malaysians, vietnamese and brasilians. Their forum is as essential as humanity itself, and it is entertaining as ****.

Meshugger, question

Would you say you are offended by some of the derogatory comments on Codex? And if you aren't can you tell me why ?

But please think carefully about  my question and your answer because I'll be asking you another question after that :)

really? we thought we were mocking you. care for another fish?

*shrug*

regardless, there is no vulgarity or bigoted comments or the aforementioned pming, on our part, so it don't look all that much like codex.  nevertheless, you still choose to stay off-topic in the thread you created and nobody is discussing your list anymore.  heck, we can reveal this to you with complete confidence that we will get you to jump for us moments from now.

...

am wondering if we can get you to jump through a flaming hoop on command? we could take you on tour.

It's not my list. I didn't even vote. I do however find it humorous that just like every other time someone mentions the RPGCodex on these forums, your just can't help yourself, and post in the thread to highlight your view that the codex is antisemitic, homophobic and racist. Every time, you have said that. What's more, is that when that view is challenged or disagreed with, you start acting like a bigot yourself.

You can call 'lolbaited' all you like, but I don't think you're fooling anyone.

am running out of fish.

still no discussion o' the list you posted? *chuckle* as we said, at this point we can be complete transparent and you will still continue with the farce.

lord knows o' the dozens o' threads on these board with some mention o' codex (quick search says 85), we has participated in few, and in most such threads where we has participated, a rpgcodex reference by Gromnir is nowhere to be found. conversely, if we do happen to "slander" codex and you is anywhere in metaphorical earshot... well, is like flies to p00p.

complete transparent and still the performance continues.

No,

The whole concept of "offensive" for me, is if I should take person's opinion seriously or not. Sometimes the "foul" and "offensive" language is just plain ****posting that adds nothing of value, where i later find myself automatically scrolling past the the said persons posts. But at other times, a good point can be found beneath that edginess and vulgarity, which can bring new insight or will cause me to challenge my believes. I also truly believe that people are more honest in how they are expressing themselves if language is little to no controlled.

As of emotional response to being offensive, there's is little to none. I get more angry at stupid people.

Hitchens explains it better than me:
