Where I live there is really very small amount of Islamic people, but even there was leak from one mosque where preacher preached to beat childrens who dont follow koran and to kill any infidel. If there ever is some 'restrained' muslim he should have step up and tell him to gtfo, but guess what? Never ever I heard abou single muslim saying that those teachings are bollocks. Can you imagine priest in church preaching to kill any human being? What do you think would happen if single one do that. I believe whole church would just leave and tell him to GTFO. That is the difference and that is hard for me to believe that there exist any 'restrained' muslims

No. But it was a slow and arduous process as well. Secondly our secularism  - specifically the freedom of religion in the Netherlands which was the forerunner at it's time - was inspired by the Ottoman Empire at the time (late 1500s IIRC).

 

 

Yes process was slow, but why it was slow? I believe its because we didnt have anything else then religion but today we are flying into space. All those scientific discoveries made through history brought us closer to secularisation because they start questioning christian teaching (if you were is space you kind of know that there is no bearded man on cloud here). Yes - why didn't it? It's a good question. They have actually in many cases reverted from secularism to conservatism. All we know is that religions can change, and that they will change beyond recognition when their followers do so. Just look at today's Christians - not at all similar to Christians of 100 years ago.

The rise of nationalism and austere measures wouldn't have been indication of anything other than a reaction to the tough situation they had been placed in. CONTROVERSIAL FRENCH COMEDIAN Dieudonné has been arrested over comments he made seeming to express solidarity with one of last week’s killer gunmen.

 

On Monday, Diudonné wrote on his Facebook page, “Tonight, as far as I’m concerned, I feel like Charlie Coulibaly”.

 

It is was a reference to Amedy Coulbaly who is believed to have shot a Paris policewoman the day after the Charlie Hebdo attacks and was killed by police after shooting dead four people at a Jewish supermarket the following day.

 

Dieudonne made his controversial Facebook post after attending Sunday’s unity march against extremism. He described the march, considered the biggest rally in modern French history, as “a magical moment comparable to the big-bang”.

 

A judicial source told AFP that Dieudonné was arrested this morning for being an “apologist for terrorism”.

 

Dieudonné’s notorious brand of comedy and provocation made world headlines in 2013 when French footballer Nicolas Anelka was banned for made a “quenelle” gesture.

 

The gesture which is used widely, including by Dieudonné, resembles a Fascist salute with the proponent’s arm facing downwards. Critics say it is anti-Semitic but Dieudonné and others argue it is used as an anti-establishment gesture.

 

Dieudonné’s arrest this morning was chronicled on his own Facebook page and included pictures of officers questioning him.

 

The post said that police arrived at his home at 7am and reiterated there were talking to him on the grounds that he had made an ‘apology for terrorism’.

Surprised they arrested him after questioning him, I'd have thought that alone would be the intimidating, but minor corrective move.

There's actually a lot of truth in that article. The major glaring flaw with it (it's not the only flaw) is the same major glaring mistake so many in this thread are making, and that's a whole people are being blamed for the actions of a relative few. The 'Jews or Judaism' were no more responsible for the acts of a relatively few number of Jewish people than the Muslims or Islam are responsible for the actions of a relatively few Muslims. Yet there's no shortage of people crying out against Islam. There's really no difference between them and the people who blame 'The Jews' for all that a few evil Jewish people did or are doing.

Ity's funny that people will go all out for their right to make fun of Catholic priests being pedophiles because a minority of them are but you can't write anything negative about Islam at all even if it's the truth without threat of death and people claiming it's deserved.
