Stun Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 (edited) Are there any prominent let's players whom specialise in the IE games? That would seem to be a lot more of a pertinent personality to judge the game in comparison to its forebear. Mr Cox seemed more suited to capering in the vicinity of an Organ Grinder.Matt Barton, Razor Fist, Angry Joe and a few others who would have gleefully paid for airfare out of their pockets for the opportunity to go to Paradox or Obsidian studios to take part in this live stream. But the decision was made to use this Cox guy instead? Mind Boggling. Edited November 14, 2014 by Stun
Leferd Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 Get over yourselves. Is he a hardcore cRPG grognard? No. But he has a decent enough rep around the general gaming community and people sem to enjoy his persona. I found the stream to be entertaining enough and he has a sizable following on his Twitter, YouTube, and Twitch accounts. If it draws views, it draws views. 4 "Things are funny...are comedic, because they mix the real with the absurd." - Buzz Aldrin."P-O-T-A-T-O-E" - Dan Quayle
Starwars Posted November 14, 2014 Posted November 14, 2014 I think the trouble is that literally the only reason to have him there is to get some additional hits. It´s not like he's providing additional depth, insight or anything, or even giving a good view of how a newbie would play the game (way too unfocused for that). And why on earth would I want comedy in a video-game preview? And that's if he *was* funny. Reading the narration in silly voices? Yeah, very original. It's not like I would be against two guys cracking a joke here and there but the guy is falling over himself in order to *entertaining* and *energetic* and *hilarious*. It was alright when he actually focused on the game a bit, and Josh providing some pointers. And it just feel very at odds with the game they're trying to show off. A slower paced game with lots of reading. But, if it gets them the views then it's good. Hopefully it'll bring in some extra sales. RPG LPs are traditionally/best done in screenshot format, and screenshot LPs aren't really a big thing anymore (and never were as big as video LPs). Regardless, I'm sure "person is good at this sort of thing" was the last thing Obsidian/Paradox cared about for the stream. Edited November 14, 2014 by Tamerlane 1

Fine. However, he was a great choice for the stream considering he is a casual player who has a huge youtube fanbase. 1
Endrosz Posted November 15, 2014 Author Posted November 15, 2014 I found the intended entertainment by Mr. Jesse Cox rather boring, occasionally annoying. I found the unintended entertainment by Mr. Jesse Cox -- his blunders and failure to understand not just the combat, but other, much simpler gameplay systems -- completely hilarious. Would watch again, at least he doesn't try to appeal to 10 year olds with hissy fits and constant swearing like PewDiePie. The Seven Blunders/Roots of Violence: Wealth without work. Pleasure without conscience. Knowledge without character. Commerce without morality. Science without humanity. Worship without sacrifice. Politics without principle. Rumsteak Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 I for one enjoyed the stream from beginning to end. Would watch a stream with Jesse Cox again. He may not be a seasoned RPG player, but he did say at some point that if he was playing just for himself he would go much slower, as he likes exploring every bit of map before going to the next one. Sounds good to me. I liked the dudebro jokes and at least he's not doing some esoteric comments only known by the so-called "old-school RPG elite" or whatever some arrogant guys in this forum consider themselves as. 6
Red7 Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 the twitch stream reminded me that i really wanna play this game , and i hope they make more streams. 1
Sedrefilos Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 (edited) Game looked awesome to me. Jesse was a bit annoying at times but this wasn't reason for me to stop watching. Looks like I'm gonna have superb fun playing it. Combat seemed ok to me. Don't know why people comment so much on pausing during combat. Repeating pause/unpause was common to me when I was playing the IE games, heck even with DA:O I did the same, so I dunno. Of course I haven't played the beta so I don't know how "broken" it is mechanic/balance wise, even though I've watched many gameplay videos; you can't know for sure if you haven't played yourself (and I usually get over not-so-great combat systems easyly when this isn't the only feature of a game). Only thing I know after new trailer + twitch stream is I want to play this game yesterday! :D Edited November 15, 2014 by Sedrefilos
Leferd Posted November 15, 2014 Posted November 15, 2014 The gameplay stream and the new trailer actually did its job for me and makes me even more pumped up for the full game. And I'm in the beta, fully cognizant of how much improvement the gameplay needs.
