Marceror Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 I'm not going to try to micromanage the details, as I'm in no position to do so. ashtonw Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Well the BG series at least used top tier actors so cameos from that are not going to happen. As did Torment? Sheena Easton was Anna, for crying out loud. Am I supposed to know who that is yo what up
Leferd Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Due to union rules, Obsidian has to go full SAG or no SAG at all with the voice acting. All or nothing. "Things are funny...are comedic, because they mix the real with the absurd." - Buzz Aldrin."P-O-T-A-T-O-E" - Dan Quayle

Bryy Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Due to union rules, Obsidian has to go full SAG or no SAG at all with the voice acting. All or nothing. Yeah, that's honestly always been a really retarded rule. 2
Marceror Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Those SAG dudes are pricey I hear. So I hope that means no cashola for them this time. "Now to find a home for my other staff."My Project Eternity Interview with Adam Brennecke
Lephys Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 And Jennifer Hale voiced Fall-from-Grace and Deionarra Jennifer Hale has voiced every female character in every game, ever, I'm pretty sure. I think she started her career as the voice of Mrs. Pacman, who didn't even have a voice. I think Seth Green needs to voice a character in every game, for what it's worth. Joker was, by far, the best Mass Effect character. Sure, the extent of the post-mission game-world progression was just "we'll all make slightly different comments about recent events if you talk to us after every mission." But talking to Joker as often as possible was SO worth it. 1 Should we not start with some Ipelagos, or at least some Greater Ipelagos, before tackling a named Arch Ipelago? 6_u
archangel979 Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 As far as VO goes, I expect at least as much as BG games had. Anything more will be a plus.
Bryy Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Well the BG series at least used top tier actors so cameos from that are not going to happen. The SAG didn't give a cr@p about video games back in the late 90s, either. Now, it's a whole different landscape.
Caerdon Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Obsidian should hire George Takei to voice a main character. His voice is just... oh myyy. 2

I think she started her career as the voice of Mrs. Pacman, who didn't even have a voice. Wow, I hadn't realized just how prolific she was. That's a reasonably impressive track record. Bryy Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Those SAG dudes are pricey I hear. So I hope that means no cashola for them this time. My friend would keep getting fined for doing VO roles outside of SAG.
Caerdon Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Jennifer Hale has voiced every female character in every game, ever, I'm pretty sure. Nah, just half of them. Grey DeLisle voiced the rest. 2

TheisEjsing Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 Grey Delisle only voiced 3 party members in the baldurs gate games. She can go for another round in PoE. Furthermore I am going to be outraged, if Dee Bradley Baker isn't voicing all the pets in awesome voices!
bonarbill Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) As far as VO goes, I expect at least as much as BG games had. Anything more will be a plus. Same. Main NPCs will probably have some nice minor voice acting, but I definitely want to see some voice acting from the minor NPCs like in BG2. Who doesn't remember lines like, "Heya" or "Just watch yourself, I have a quick eye." Edited August 16, 2014 by bonarbill
Karkarov Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 I find the D:OS ambient voices really annoying. The IE "walla" style was a lot better. What's that Sensuki? Your opinion has more holes in it than this slice of fine Gorgonbert!
Leferd Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 That's an even better one to link Leferd. Nicely done! OT: Well, along with From Russia with Love and Casino Royale, For Your Eyese Only is my favorite Bond film. Also with The Spy Who Loved Me and Live and Let Die, the best Bond song. ... If I recall correctly, NWN2 wasn't SAG, but the voice actor who played Sand was magnificent. Kjaamor Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 OT: Well, along with From Russia with Love and Casino Royale, For Your Eyese Only is my favorite Bond film. Also with The Spy Who Loved Me and Live and Let Die, the best Bond song. Now there's an opinion. Personal favourites are You Only Live Twice (despite Japanese Bond), Goldeneye and Casino Royale. You Know My Name and Skyfall are both fantastic themes, but given that they're contemporary it feels a bit unfair to compare them to the older themes. Of those, the best by miles is Goldeneye, despite being written by two useless ****wits. 1 Other kickstarter projects to which I have no affiliation but you may be interested: Serpent in the Staglands: A rtwp gothic isometric crpg in the style of Darklands The Mandate: Strategy rpg as a starship commander with focus on crew management
Sensuki Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 What's that Sensuki? Your opinion has more holes in it than this slice of fine Gorgonbert! The D:OS ambient voices are fkn obnoxious to me. I honestly prefer just floating text. The Witcher 2 also had some over the top ambient voices, but TW1 was fine.

The Witcher isn't exactly working with an egalitarian fantasy world.
