Baeus
The first time I saw the price for Planetary Annihilation early access I thought it was a mistake, didn't understand why half a game cost as much as two games. Later, it turned out to be an epidemic. I still don't understand who buys this. Planetary Annihilation they priced so high because they felt they had to charge the same that it had cost a kickstarter backer for alpha/beta access, which I understand. Their backers would feel cheated if everyone else could come in and get the alpha cheaper. I don't know what the excuse for GalCiv is though. Still $100 is what a lot new release games cost over here, so it's a little easier to swallow.
Drowsy Emperor
That doesn't explain why they charged as much for alpha/beta access in the first place. Apart from "because we can". Beta access is, you know, traditionally free because we're doing them a goddamn favor by playing their bug infested game in the first place. Hassat Hunter
Yeah. I love PoE... but I am not going to pay more than the base game just to test the beta for them. I'll happily do it for free though (as currently with Divinity: Original Sin) XD ^ I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. Why do they need a reason to charge for access other than "because we can"? I would be greatly surprised if more than 5% of people that play a game in open beta actually contribute in any meaningful fashion to the beta process. They are just getting free early access to the game.
Hassat Hunter
True, most people who buy early access don't assist. Actually, most complain about bugs, crashes, uncompleteness and require the developer to handcraft THEM a fix, they're more important than anybody else. I'm pretty sure that's not the idea of early access or kickstarter based games, but there you have it :/ ^ I agree that that is such a stupid idiotic pathetic garbage hateful retarded scumbag evil satanic nazi like term ever created. Valsuelm
So it's in beta phase now, with a release date set for April. Has anyone been playing this? Anyone have good feedback regarding it?
Mamoulian War
I don't know what you value in your lives but do you really know enough to laugh at other people who put their efforts/money based on different interests? 1) Be more condescending, please. 2) Nobody here is making fun of anyone. People are free to do with their money what they wish, and others are free to call that stupid. People giving their opinions =/= mockery. I really wish you had this attitude when discussing "Social Justice Issues" topics as well Edited February 19, 2015 by Mamoulian War Sent from my Stone Tablet, using Chisel-a-Talk 2000BC. Rosbjerg
As I understand these kind of early access titles also comes with the chance to give feedback to and influence the game development - many people probably feel this (for 20-40+ or so dollars above normal price) gives them a look 'behind the curtain'.. so the the additional price reflects the desire to become a para-developer, so to speak. 1 Fortune favors the bald. Bos_hybrid
I have it unfortunately my desktop decided to blow a motherboard and I can't play the latest versions. But the early versions I played were quite promising.
