Mor Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 (edited) Just to add one more vote: when I did my army service, we got to test shoot the Swedish AK-4 and AK-5, the American M-16 and the Russian AK-47. They felt different, they handled differently and they absolutely sounded very different.I guess it depends on how you test it. If you familiar with loadouts in the field, you can certainly make an educated guess based on rate of fire and how loud it sounds. But in lab "blind" test I'll be betting that most of us can't(especially if its single shots only) Edited January 12, 2014 by Mor
Walsingham Posted January 12, 2014 Posted January 12, 2014 I think guns need to catch up with the '70s sci-fi look of body armour. "It wasn't lies. Woldan Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) Nice example of how you can have absolutely harmless crazy fun with huge guns. Edited January 13, 2014 by Woldan I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Walsingham Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 It's been my observation over a long time that some of the nicest people in the World 'manage' or are interested in violent shooty death. Whereas a great many bloody awful people are ostensibly 'carers'. 2 "It wasn't lies. It was just... bull****"." -Elwood Blues tarna's dead; processing... complete. Disappointed by Universe. Woldan Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 Modified German MG3. Nifty. I'll take 5. 1 I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.
Mor Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 (edited) America. Nuff said. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uCppmoZiXUY One of the few upsides of a conscript army, is that every now and then we get to have some "fun" in the courses and get this out of our system. Which is amazing, because just the thought of owning a gun makes my head spin from all the cost red tape and certifications Edited January 13, 2014 by Mor
Walsingham Posted January 13, 2014 Posted January 13, 2014 On balance if I needed to get guns into play the smartest solution I can think of would be a trip to visit Guard Dog, and a budget for steaks and ale. Agiel Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 A funny story about the MG-3 from someone I spoke to who served as a Leopard 2 commander and Kompanie executive officer in the last days of the Cold War to the mid-90s: As many of them were simply Second World War vintage MG-42s re-chambered for NATO 7.62mm, it wasn't totally unheard of that one would find a Nazi eagle emblem still engraved on the internal parts whilst cleaning one. Quote “Political philosophers have often pointed out that in wartime, the citizen, the male citizen at least, loses one of his most basic rights, his right to life; and this has been true ever since the French Revolution and the invention of conscription, now an almost universally accepted principle. But these same philosophers have rarely noted that the citizen in question simultaneously loses another right, one just as basic and perhaps even more vital for his conception of himself as a civilized human being: the right not to kill.” -Jonathan Littell <<Les Bienveillantes>> Quote "The chancellor, the late chancellor, was only partly correct. He was obsolete. But so is the State, the entity he worshipped. Any state, entity, or ideology becomes obsolete when it stockpiles the wrong weapons: when it captures territories, but not minds; when it enslaves millions, but convinces nobody. When it is naked, yet puts on armor and calls it faith, while in the Eyes of God it has no faith at all. Any state, any entity, any ideology that fails to recognize the worth, the dignity, the rights of Man...that state is obsolete." -Rod Serling

A few years ago there was this ''huge scandal'' about the German parade corps still using K98's with swastikas and eagles on them. Good thing they removed them, what seemed like mere little imprints from a time long gone turned out to be malevolent magical runes that could actually resurrect zombie-Hitler when used in a special ritual. Anyway, here is a pic of a L2A1 because its so cool I'd trade whats left of my soul to own one. Edited January 14, 2014 by Woldan 2 I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.

Woldan Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 http://pimpmygun.doctornoob.com/ Made my version of the perfect modernized AK. With a Trijicon TR21 and a docter on top of it, heavy, 14'' barrel, adjustable cheek piece, ris rail handguard, flashlight, AG44 Grip. If could only rely on one weapon for the rest of my life this AK configuration would be it. I gazed at the dead, and for one dark moment I saw a banquet.

Woldan Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) Why have you got rails on the end if you aren't going to do any further adaptations? Better have them and not need them than need them and not have them. Thats a one piece hand guard with rails on top and on bottom. Besides, I used it to mount a flashlight.
