DavidSaysHi Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Obsidian why you stop >.... Fallout New Vegas was amazing honestly, there is no reason to stop making new fallouts honestly... Their fun, and make money. Ughh Fallout new vegas was so good. 1
Labadal Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 The Fallout license belongs to Zenimax/Bethesda. Obsidian did Fallout: New Vegas because they managed to get a contract a to do one Fallout game. The next game in the series will be made by Bethesda.

soulburner Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 There is a chance Obsidian will make a "Fallout: Some City" after Bethesda releases Fallout 4, so not all is lost.
Humanoid Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 But unless they can wrangle a much more favourable contract out of Bethesda - and given the options available to a company of Bethesda's size, not bloody likely - I'd rather them not do so. Sure, it'd put bread on the table, but by the sounds of it, not much else. A great option when you're starving, but looking forward, I'd rather Obsidian invest their time in projects that can grow the company, both financially and in stature. Something that'll keep on giving. 3 L I E S T R O N GL I V E W R O N G
Tick Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 It actually seems surprisingly possible that Obsidian will do another Fallout. Haven't yet found the original source that I saw, but I found this, and this, via googling.
Aoyagi Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I demand new Obsidian Fallout, or else. (using Skyrim rhetoric there)
GhostofAnakin Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 Obsidian should do Fallout: New Detroit, where the city is in a state of chaos due to crime and bankruptcy and ... wait, that's already been done. 2 "Console exclusive is such a harsh word." - Darque"Console exclusive is two words Darque." - Nartwak (in response to Darque's observation)
Amentep Posted July 24, 2013 Posted July 24, 2013 I demand new Obsidian Fallout, or else. (using Skyrim rhetoric there) Obsidian used to be a Fallout game developer, until they took an arrow to the knee? 2 I cannot - yet I must. How do you calculate that? At what point on the graph do "must" and "cannot" meet? Yet I must - but I cannot! ~ Ro-Man
Oerwinde Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Obsidian should do Fallout: New Detroit, where the city is in a state of chaos due to crime and bankruptcy and ... wait, that's already been done. RoboCop? I'm thinking Obsidian will handle West Coast Fallout games and Bethesda will handle east coast. Then they should tap CDProjekt to do a Europe based one. The area between the balls and the butt is a hotbed of terrorist activity.
Lord Chaos Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 Someone should do a Fallout outside of the US. That would be really interesting. Its not beyond the realm of fantasy that Vault-tec would have vaults on other continents or even some countries went free of nuclear devastation.
Elvin Rath Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 In fact, there's info about vaults in other countries. At least one in Canada and another in Japan, I think... But I'll rather let them stay on the US.

NOK222 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 There is a chance Obsidian will make a "Fallout: Some City" after Bethesda releases Fallout 4, so not all is lost. Todd and Feargus seem to be hinting they would. And despite the whole metacritic debacle, both companies actually get along with each other. Ka-ka-ka-ka-Cocaine!
Lord Chaos Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 In fact, there's info about vaults in other countries. At least one in Canada and another in Japan, I think... But I'll rather let them stay on the US. We've had 6+ Fallouts in the US. I think the american pride could survive a Fallout that doesn't just take place in the US. (perhaps both the US and other countries) 1
Aoyagi Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Fallout is highly related to the culture of American 50s, I believe... Lots of artdeco, good music, drugs, guns, crooks and all the little things. 1

Lord Chaos Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Fallout is highly related to the culture of American 50s, I believe... Lots of artdeco, good music, drugs, guns, crooks and all the little things. This is not impossible to have similar or identical development in other countries though.
sorophx Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Josh Sawyer wanted to do a Fallout game that took place in Europe during the Resource Wars or something, IIRC. that would be rad 1 Walsingham said: I was struggling to understand ths until I noticed you are from Finland. And having been educated solely by mkreku in this respect I am convinced that Finland essentially IS the wh40k universe.
Elvin Rath Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Fallout is highly related to the culture of American 50s, I believe... Lots of artdeco, good music, drugs, guns, crooks and all the little things. This. And american 50s have their paranoia and the Cold War. Of course a fallout can be done in other countries, but It wouln't be the same....
Lord Chaos Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Josh Sawyer wanted to do a Fallout game that took place in Europe during the Resource Wars or something, IIRC. that would be rad It would be cool. But it wouldn't have to be all other countries. Perhaps simply a place you travel to or perhaps multiple PC's like GTA5.
exodiark Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 I demand new Obsidian Fallout, or else. (using Skyrim rhetoric there) Obsidian used to be a Fallout game developer, until they took an arrow to the knee? I can not best you!
anubite Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) I don't think a main-line Fallout game can be set anywhere else that isn't the United States. Even Alaska or Hawaii would feel off. Not knowing Fallout's lore outisde the US, I think the most interesting place to set it would be Germany. You'd have a lot of differnet culture elements - they recovered from WW2, split up, and then the cold war started and then whamo. I'd imagine we'd see a Nazi-aligned party, a Socialist/Communist party, and then some more german (or French/Spanish/Russian?) cultural groups fighting for dominance. Edited August 6, 2013 by anubite I made a 2 hour rant video about dragon age 2. It's not the greatest... but if you want to watch it, here ya go:
Legendofthestars Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Please do not encourage Bethesda to move Fallout to another country, just take Skyrim as an example, the closest bethesda got to a nordic accent was a guy that sounded like Arnold, not exactly satisfying is it, imagine if Obsidian had changed the language and accents to russian in Fallout, how would you feel about that as an American. Fantasy or not, that was the main reason that kept me from immersing into the game If bethesda or Obsidian is more comfortable with the American Futurism then by all means stick to it, i rather have a game with a language that makes sense. That does not mean it's not possible Stalker is a great example of that, nobody understood a word unless you read the subtitles, but the game takes place in Russia why on earth should they speak anything but russian?
