As for the topic, while I do agree that sometimes political correctness can go to far, I find that often the people who complain about political correctness are the ones who start telling offensive jokes immediately afterwards. I don't know if any of you have any interest in darts, but a certain darts announcer by the name of Martin Fitzmaurice was fired this week for making some racist jokes during a lull in a livestream darts event. He started off complaining about how the British Darts Organisation had told him to keep politically correct, and he then made it perfectly clear he wasn't having any of that with such jokes as "What's black and eats bananas? Half of London!" Oh, yes, hilarious stuff. He must not have realized he was still live.

This is something I've been seeing more nad more in the world recently.

 

In the efforts to enforce "proper" behavior and morals, the politcal correctness crusader become worse than the monsters they are fighting for.

 

In todays news, Obama was branded as sexist becaue he complemented one female judge, and besides mentioning her being hard-working and all, also mentioned he was good-looking. And s*** hit the fan immediately.

 

Apparenlty we live in a word where you can't even compliment someone without a bunch of MORONS overreacting.

It's an issue of broad cultural sexism, not political correctness. Yeah, I get it, you've never taken a Women's Studies class in your life and you never will, because you completely understand the female experience both now and in the past as if you were a woman yourself, there's no rape culture, etc. Whatever, here's the study that found any comment made about a female political candidate's appearance negatively affects her standing:

It would, and this is the counter-argument, seem that, even if you accepted the argument that being transgendered is natural and acceptable -I am not saying it is not, I'm just putting those issues aside for the sake of the argument-, they would, by the very definition of the word, fall outside of 'normal' given that 'normal' is made of the 'standard' and, at least for the time being, cisgendered heterosexuality is just that - the norm. I know that this would not go over well among the 'social justice' apologists and fanatics of Tumblr and other such places, but, as far as I can see, I cannot come up with a scenario, barring a complete demographic shift, where transgendered would be anything but abnormal.

It would be interesting to see if there were any peer-reviewed articles on the matter, I suspect there are given that this has been a topic that, to one degree or another, has been in the public eye since women, and, to a lesser degree, men, have run for office in the age of mass media and the internet. The 2008 Presidential Election spurred this to even greater heights given that one of the front runners was Hillary Clinton and the VP for McCain was the infamous Sarah Palin.
