JRPG is a different genre, IMO, but I think Squeenix and DXHR might qualify for what I had in mind.

EA is a prestigious and respected company for millions and them going under would be a huge blow globally to many aspects of gaming.

 

Oh and you guys that don't like EA and think that they could fold with no residual impact. You are horribly wrong. Remember that Bioware is owned by them, to think you can be so cavalier with the dismissal of Bioware worries me the most. A company that created some of the best RPG's in the world and has millions of committed fans deserves a second chance at least, even if you don't think there last few games were that good. Where is your loyalty?

 

Trust me if EA closed its doors it would a crisis of monumental portions

Well respected, don't know about that, doubt any of the mega publishers are respected all that much. Them suddenly imploding, while amusing in a way and would produce some funny posts online, would shake up things pretty well, I agree.

I don't think you realize the fallacious nature of your comment

 

In life we are loyal to many things. Brands, food, TV series and authors just to name a few. If you having a chat with someone and they say "TV series X is utter nonsense" won't you disagree with them if you like that TV series? Thats loyalty. Why can't we form a similar association with Development companies. You don't owe them anything but you do support them by buying there products?

Last EA game I bought was Bad Company 2, I think - that was a poor purchase as well in hindsight. So definitely not a loyal consumer to them. Not sure about your example, depends on the delivery I suppose - can be a disagreement based on opinion or some fanboy reaction. Still stand by my claim that you shouldn't be loyal (to me, I take that as regularly consuming stuff from that company regardless of things) to a company.

I don't owe EA nothing... They owe me Origin, Bullfrog, Westwood just to name a few... neither I do owe any other company...

 

Last game I played from EA is Wing Commander Prophecy Gold...

 

If Activision or Ubisoft would go down under, It would be for me same thing... Last game from Activision I played was Pitfall 2 on Atari 800XL, last game I played which has Ubisoft logo is Star Ocean 3 for PS2...

 

I would lose nothing if any these companies will go down tomorrow... There is enough quality developers, who will continue to entertain me as they are entertaining me now...

 

I would just gain a world with less shovelware

The new Lord of the Rings Expansion will allow players to go to Helm's Deep.  I'm pretty happy how quickly this is coming, Turbine is really hitting their stride on content releases.  It also ups the level cap to 95.  I just hit 75, so that is great news for me.  I hate sitting at the cap, that will give me a lot more levels to gain.

 

I'm guessing we wil be in Mordor in just two years.  Pretty epic journey so far.

But doesn't it concern you that you are in a minority of people who say they don't like or support companies like EA? Most say they don't like EA but they still play there games like DA or ME. Why would you deny yourself the entertainment factor of not playing games from EA? Isn't it a case of "cutting off your nose to spite your face" ?

Pity.

 

Not that we have much to gain either way. EA has been a big part of the process in which games were increasingly homogenized and turned into large industry, but that process is now both larger than EA and irreversible.

 

Drawing satisfaction from its collapse would just be enjoying a misplaced feeling of poetic justice.
